    Cheap Protein Shakes

Hmmm....I looked up the Slim Fast 3 2 1 chocolate Royale powder. It says that with 8 oz fat free milk it gives you 200 calories, 30g carbs, and only 10g protein (with the milk). Those are not very good numbers. You should look for under 200 calories a serving, 20g protein, and under 15g carbs. That is the recommendation from my surgeon anyways. Now according to the slimfast webpage.....they do offer a Slim Fast 3 2 1 "High Protein" version. That is 200 calories, 25g carbs, and 15g protein (with the milk). Not sure how much of an improvement that is....but its something. Really there are much better options out there. Also.....just FYI. The first ingredient listed in the "regular" Slimfast is sugar. It is the second ingredient listed in the "high protein" version.

    Cheap Protein Shakes

You will likely be dependent on shakes for your protein for a period of weeks to months after the sleeve also. Keep that in mind. Also.....your tastes might change so something that tastes good now might taste like vomit to you after the sleeve.....not even kidding.
  3. 5 hour energy has caffeine which is a diuretic and will contribute to further dehydration. Just a heads up.
  4. Day after coming home. :blush5:
  5. Try warm liquids.....they usually go down easier. Broth or herbal teas. You can also suck on SF popsicles.
  6. Yep....being tired is often the first sign of a vitamin deficiency. Get some labs done. The usual culprit is lack of B-12 or iron (anemic).
  7. ALL liquids count towards your daily Fluid intake.....so long as they do not have caffeine (which dehydrates you). If you are having a hard time with fluids try sticking to warmer fluids (tea, broth, etc). They tend to go down much easier and don't cause the spasms that cold fluids will. It is really hard at at first...you need to literally (not kidding) be sipping ALL day. There should be a bottle of something with you always. 1oz every 15mins...gets you 4 oz an hour....16 hours will get you 64 oz. If you can't get down 1oz in 15 mins then there might be something else wrong. These things I could have on my clear diet: chicken broth, beef broth, vegetable broth, SF popsicles, Isopure (only "clear" Protein drink) - although I think Isopure Plus is better, herbal tea (remember no caffiene so no iced tea or regular black tea yet), strained miso or chicken noodle Soup (no chunks - tastes better than the broth), sugar free gatorade/powerade zero (really good for replenishing electrolytes), Vitamin Water zero, etc. Keep at it....it will get easier.
  8. I just re-read part of your post and didn't realize you were eating 11oz of pureed soup this soon out. That stuff will not go right through you (especially with Protein Powder mixed in)....you need to measure that type of stuff out. No more than 1/2 cup per meal at this time. Other clear fluids will go right through you - but still want to probably drink no more than 4oz per 15 mins.
  9. It's just water.....why worry....its going to come out in a matter of days. You know its not fat.
  10. It's fluids/gas. You truly have no idea how much your body sucks up while you are in the hospital.
  11. You are doing great....just keep at it. What you are feeling right now should go away in a few days.....your stomach is EXTREMELY swollen still. Once that goes away fluids should go down much easier.

    Alcohol After 6 Weeks Out?

Good for you. Not a good idea however to encourage new sleevers to induldge in foolish behavior because you were able to get away with it.
  13. You won't feel restriction on liquids......they go right through you. You will feel it when you start eating solid food.....particularly dense Protein. Your nerve endings have also been cut and your stomach is still swollen for several weeks. Your stomach isn't feeling much of anything right now. This is also why calorie containing beverages are a no-no pretty much forever (Protein shakes excluded)....because they will go right through you and give you no sense of fullness....but you will have the calories.

    Alcohol After 6 Weeks Out?

Yes it is silly to even consider it. Do not drink any alcohol six weeks out.

    Stalled This Early?

    That is not a stall.
  16. The smallest one near the top........middle of your abdomen...between the breasts right? Is it the smallest one? If so....that is most likely where they put the retractor in. It's only job is to hold the liver back so they don't need a huge hole there.
  17. Sorry I have to disagree. Sugar is a very addictive substance. Sugar releases dopamine in your brain (same as cocaine amphetamines, sex, nicotine, etc). Are you saying those substances aren't addictive? They all do the same thing.....cause you to have feelings of pleasure. So I would partially agree with you that no one gets addicted to food by eating steak and asparagus.....but sugar...hell yes. Here is some research if you don't believe. http://www.princeton.edu/main/news/archive/S22/88/56G31/index.xml?section=topstories

    Carbs Debate

It really depends on how insulin resistant you are. If you have a fairly normal metabolism.....you can get away with eating more carbohydrate and still lose weight. If you are insulin resistant....then you will need to lower it to continue to lose weight. Low carb is generally considered anything under 100g per day.....although many have to restrict it much further to see results. No matter what stance you take.....low carb or not....things like wheat, sugar, corn, etc.....really have no place in a healthy diet.
  21. That is not true. Everyone is different. There is certain amount that your body can use for muscle building/repair in a certain time frame.....however the remainder is not "wasted". It is turned into glucose and used for energy. This amount is different for everyone and is based on your body make up, gender, other medical conditions, muscle mass, etc. So have as much Protein as you need/want. Your body will use what it can....and give you energy with the rest. Much better than not getting enough.

    Cream Soups

I don't think so. Cream soups are like.....Cream of Chicken, Cream of Mushroom, Cream of Celery....etc. They have no chunks in them.
  23. Yes.....I would tell an alcoholic to stop drinking before rehab. Sorry...I don't see the problem.

    Drinking While Eating

And where is your published study? You aren't doing anything but parroting your surgeon also. Talk about high and mighty.

    Drinking While Eating

Yeah....and just because your surgeon said it doesn't make him absolutely correct either. If you polled 100 VSG surgeons I would make a bet that 99 of them would say no drinking after eating. It's a mixture of common sense, physics, and anatomy.
