How Many Grams Of Protein Are Your Doctors Suggesting?

80-90g Men need a bit more.

Smoking Again After The Gastric Sleeve?

Whenever you want.....enjoy the lung cancer and ulcers in your stomach you get from doing it. Seriously.....why would you put yourself through surgery just to do something stupid like that.
  4. I just had this same issue. I am seven weeks out and had not gone for at least SEVEN days. It was really starting to bother me. I tried Milk of Magnesia and six hours later......success! It caused no pain or cramping. It was a 4 oz dose and I was able to easily drink it. I'm still trying to figure out what to do for long term so this doesn't happen again. Anyways....also about Miralax. It does NOT work immediately....not sure how long you tried it. It takes a good 2-3 days at least to start working....but it is very effective. You just need to be "regular" about taking it. Not a one dose thing like MoM.

    Buffet Discounts?

Brazilian steakhouse is the last place I would be going. The one near me absolutely will not give you a discount.....AND they bring the food to your table....so you will constantly be sitting there while everyone else gets to sample food. Why put yourself in that situation?

    Soup

My surgeon said to drink the broth of the soup.....wait a few minutes and then eat the solid part. Pretty much eating them together is not ok.
  10. Your body hangs on to the Fluid because it has a lack of it coming in. I know it sounds funny....but the more fluids you take in....the quicker that fluid will leave your body. Get up and move! Exercise will help flush it out too.
  11. I'll preface this by saying I am not a doctor or work in the medical field. However, I have been told that VSG patients do not need to worry about having an naso gastric tube puncturing their sleeve. That is "old" thinking based on the fact that it is a SERIOUS issue for those with an RNY gastric bypass and could easily puncture their pouch. The sleeve is a completely different animal but it seems the advice still sticks. Kinda like how NSAIDS are fine with a sleeve.....but some surgeons still tell their patients they can't have it. Just my two cents.

    First Day With Eggs

Having issues with egg is not uncommon at all. I personally am a bit hesistant to try them because of how many people I have seen throw them up. I have seen people that can even handle chicken breast before they could get an egg down....so don't worry. Crab and cooked veggies should go down fine!
  13. There really is no foolproof way to know for SURE that you don't have a leak....even with the leak tests. The only way to know is if you make it a few months with no problems. Follow your surgeons after care program and you will be fine.

    Favorite Blender?

My ninja will kick any other blender's behind. It rocks!
  15. Not even close to being healed at five weeks. Stick to what your surgeon says. Hope you feel better!
  16. Yup.....you nailed it on the head. EVERYTHING you ate there.....minus the ham....YUM....can get mooshed down and slide through pretty easy. Still not a bad meal though....you got in some awesome Protein, low carb. The fact that you had dense protein later and was stuffed just proves it.

    Soda & Protein Bars

With all the crap in them......why would you want to drink a soda? Plenty of healthy choices on things to drink. Use your surgery as a chance to get a clean break from that stuff.

At 8 Months Out I Ate...

You should not be drinking with meals for one thing. Drop the milk from breakfast. No drinking for 30-45 mins MINIMUM after eating.
  19. Carbs in the applesauce and oatmeal/cream of wheat. I'm VERY surprised they have you eating that stuff four days out of surgery.
  20. All I can tell you is that the first weeks are the toughest....depression and regret are normal at this point. It gets better! You really just need to push through it.
  21. I am 3 1/2 weeks out and my incisions are pretty much all sealed up. I could take showers from Day 1. However, I am supposed to wait 6 weeks for total immersion (baths, swimming). What did your doc tell you?
  22. I am very impressed you are able to eat those things six weeks out. You must have a sleeve of steel!!!

    Best Scales?

I've got a balance scale (like they use in doctor office). It takes up a bit of room, but they are 100% accurate. I don't trust the digital scales.
