Freaking out a little (clothing purge)
Ollie replied to Fairysaddle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am happy to hear that I am not alone. I hate giving up my too big jeans and shirts. I think Wheetsin said it right....that it took us a long time to find clothes that fit our chubby bodies....we couldn't just walk into any store and buy something. Is it me too, that the more form fitting the clothes are, the less secure I feel? I have been longing for a thinner frame and now that I am getting there, it is posing a crisis. Shoot me now!!! -
good for you! a whole new beginning is starting for you! Good luck
-
I am a slow loser too.....had my surgery Nov.06 and as of today I am down 57 lbs. I get frustrated sometimes but I feel great and even tho I am not losing pounds I am losing inches because my clothes keep getting bigger. I am going for a fill next week and hopefully I will begin losing again. Everyone is different.....

Cpap Machine Came Yesterday
Ollie replied to FELICIA17's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think sex is way better than CPAPs but I do feel better in the morning when I use my machine. I feel better after having sex too! -
I absolutely love my Kia Sedona....it is a great value and it rides like a dream. It is light years better than my Ford Aerostar and Windstar. Best vehicle I have ever owned. We will be purchasing a Kia Sportage within the next month. You can't beat the warranty.!

welcome to lapbandland! let us know how you are doing.

Nope....I started being hungry about four days after surgery as well. Call your doctor's office tomorrow and let them know. You may be able to start the protein shakes ...Good luck.

I can't answer if you are at risk with undiagnosed sleep apnea but to answer your question about using the cpap machine, I didn't use it during surgery. I did bring it with me for my overnight stay and it was left up to me as to whether or not I wanted to use it at night. I chose to because I get a better quality sleep and I wanted to start off my recovery on the right foot. As part of my approval process, I needed to see a pulmonary specialist. Are you required to see one? I would think that he could answer your question much better than anyone else. Good luck to you!

Need to pick my surgeon in MA...
Ollie replied to gingin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can recommend the Center for Weight Management associated with Lowell General Hospital In Lowell Mass. Dr. Roy Shen did my band and I haven't had any problems at all. The center closely monitors you thru out the entire process. The staff is professional and compassionate. Good Luck in your decision..... -
How much you can pack into a pair of pants....
Ollie replied to Susan3343's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
its so funny that you started this thread. I am wondering the same thing. I have lost 50 lbs and altho my clothes are a bit on the loose side, I can still wear my same jeans and tops. I will say my shoes are alot looser so I guess I lost most of my weight in my big toe -
Is is just me or does anyone else find the log in at the bottom of the web page to be misplaced? It was much better having it where it was in the top corner. Can we go back to the way it was?

good luck on becoming one of "us".....I also chose not to tell anyone other than my husband and my two sons. For me it was the best decision. As far as eating goes, we go out to dinner with friends and no one really notices what I eat or don't eat. It isn't the problem that you think it is going to be. By the time you are ready to dine with other people, you will be past the liquid and mushie stages. You will be surprised at what people don't notice. On the rare occasion that someone says something, I just tell them that I am finally trying to control my eating habits because I want to live to see my grandchildren and I change the subject. Truthfully, for me, it is not a problem. have a good journey to lapbandland!

Protein shakes are definitely the best way to go to curb the intense hunger. I know how you feel, been there myself. A week post op and I was fainting from hunger. The doctor's office told me to start having protein shakes mixed with fat free milk. It saved me from being a starvin' marvin'....good luck

hi friends... You are all such a wealth of information...Any ideas for me? I was sick last week with a bad flu and from staying in bed for a few days, I really pulled my back out. I usually do a regiment of Aleve for a few days and I am back to normal. But we are not supposed to take ibuprofen or naproxsyn sodium with the band. Now I know you are all going to say that I need to call the doctor, but is there any over the counter stuff that you can recommend in the meantime? the Tylenol just isn't cutting it and I can barely move. It stinks!
-
amazing isn't it? Its like a whole new world... I don't think I have ever not finished anything before my band ......
-
Isn't life good when you finally get to this stage? I am smiling with you!
-
I have no problem eating bread pasta and rice. I try not to eat them but a spoonfill here and there go down just fine. Believe it or not, I have a hard time with cold cuts....sliced turkey breast or deli ham is a surefire slimefest.
-
thank you for sharing that.....and congratulations on your hard work.....you have given me hope.....
-
congrats on your weight loss....after your fill, you will be instructed to have only soups the first day and the next couple of days its back to the mushies. It really isn't bad.....just think of the end result. good luck!

Liquid bandster..how r u dealing with easter dinner??!?!?
Ollie replied to JA4602's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I feel your pain...I was banded two days before thanksgiving! But I told myself that I had already 'tasted' those foods for years and missing this one wouldn't be the end of the world. Think of the healthier you that awaits...... -
I was fortunate enough to have my insurance cover the entire procedure. I went to the first info seminar in late June 2006 and had surgery Nov. 21, 2006. The wait was for each appointment that the insurance required. Best decision I ever made. Good luck with your journey

slap those people silly for me please! Tell them to get over themselves....

Surgery 4/13/07 any advice?
Ollie replied to gettin skinny's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think at some point we have all had the "what have I done" thought but it is by far the best decision I have ever made for myself. The weight loss is slow for me, but I can tell you that I don't think about food like I used to and I feel ten thousand times better than I did pre-surgery. I am 48 lbs lighter and for the first time in years, I am actually looking forward to getting out my summer clothes from last year and not worrying about not being able to fit in them! Good luck .....the first week will be hard but you will get thru it. -
I don't want to tell people
Ollie replied to gettin skinny's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I also kept my lapband private...too many people like to tell you horror stories they've heard and have since embellished. My husband and two adult sons are the only ones that know. For me, it was the right decision. If you want my two cents, you can always tell later on but you can't "untell"......good luck with your surgery and welcome to the future....
