I reached day 7 of post op today and Dr. said I could up grade my foods to semi-solid. Meaning I could have cream of wheat/rice cereal/ cream soups, chicken noodle soup, scrammbled eggs and mashed potato and cottage cheese(blended). Now anything with chuncks has to be put in the blender. Oh yes and sugar free pudding!!!! I put protein powder in everything to make sure I get protein. I have this diet until October 15th. 1/2 cup servings 3 times a day. I am able to get the 1/2 cup but it takes about an hour.

I was told to take Prilosec ( OTC) every day for the next 6 months by my doctor. I started on them my first day home.

Surgery was on Wednessday and they took the JP drain out on Friday. I did not have any staples just derma bond. 2 incisions one on left and belly button. -
Went for check up today and Dr. said I was clear to do whatever I felt like no restrictions even go back to work. I am an RN so I have a 50lb weight requirement and he said go back whenever I thought I was ready he would sign the paper. Nice. I think I will stay off for the next 4 weeks just to use up some of my sick bank time!!!!! I started out at 265lbs on surgery day (I'm only 5'4") down to 254 today!!!

Today was a good day. Was difficult to sleep last night. Did half/half. Half in bed and half on couch. Much less pain with drinking. 1 jello and one isopure and one high protein eas shake, one bottle of water and 1/2 cup of warm broth for the love of salt!!!! Protein 65 g fluid 60 oz calories 400 The isopure was lemon tea it was pretty good. I could not drink it cold in the morning room temp was not bad. Shake at night was cold and didn't feel to bad. My throat is still sore. That is the worst complaint for today. Down 7 pounds. Nice. Still feel like stomache is swollen. Incissions look good, worst one is the JP drain.

I am an RN and he said dont go to fast but whenever you want to go back he said he would sign the paper work. Since I have the sick bank time I am goint to stay off for another 4 weeks. Might as well use the sick time!!!!

4 days post op and my face and skin are so oily. Does anyone else have this problem?

Get to go home today. JP drain out. 3 hour ride home. I was able to eat a serving of jello. Took 3 hours. Drank half a bottle of Isopure as well that took all day so at least 20 g of protein. Not enough liquid. Feels like swallowing golf balls. Ride home was tolerable no pain meds today. Loved taking a shower. Cold liquids more painful to drink!!

This was a tough day. Had no catheter so I had to get up all night to void. Pain was not to bad with pump. I did without pain meds from 6am -2pm and then gave in. Taken several laps around hospital floor with IV pole as a cane. I think I have 2 incisions with dermabond and one JP drain. Could not stand the dirty hair. Washed it in the sink at about 4. Made my JP site bleed but not so bad. Very tired and not looking forward to the 3 hour drive home. Passed my leak tests so I was given clear liquids. Could not take much of that. Jello was ok. Isopure was ok but only little sips of it. Jello is now 6 hours old and not even half is gone.

Thats odd. I got my sleeve here in the mid west. St. Louis. No Mexico trip for me. Do they think thats the only place to get it done just because its newer? -
Great Job!!!! I can't wait to be under 200. Thanks for the inspiration!!

Did anyone else gain the first days post-op?
Lose140 replied to sweetlover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They are correct. They pump you so full of fluids and then you have swelling from the trauma. You will lose weight!! I also take prilosec for acid. -
This is my third day post suregery. Feeling pretty good. Throat still sore and not getting enough fluids yet but trying to drink isopure to get some protein. I have not had pain meds for 2 days. Sleep was difficult at home last night. Ended up on the couch at 0400. It wasn't to bad!!!

I had surgery yesterday and am still in hospital. I tried togo without pain meds today and only made it until 2 this afternoon and then I gave in. I got to eat some Jello this afternoon and so far I don't think it is very pleasant. about one little cube every 15 minutes. I started getting up last night walking around the hospital. They did not use a catheter on me so I had to start getting up about 4 hours after surgery. I hope I feel better tomorrow. Best of luck to you on finding a good position to sleep. Do you have staples or derma bond. I have derma bond and I JP drain.

I am getting my sleeve done this week. Incredibly nervous!! I have tried everything under the sun to lose weight. My last try was HCG shots. I lost fifty pounds in two months but gained back 60 over 6 months. My husband and I are both doing this. His surgery is 2.5 weeks after mine. I pray this works well for both of us.

I have not even had surgery yet. Scheduled for 09/22 I was supposed to start on the 18th. Must just be the stress.

Getting Sleeve on Sept 22, 2010
Lose140 replied to Lose140's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sleeveorbust when are you scheduled for surgery? I get more nervous everyday. I am a RN so just thinking of the things that go on in surgery is making it hard for me to sleep!!! Susan thanks for the welcome. I think doing this together will make it easier on the other!!! -
I could not sleep last night at all. I had bad dreams about anesthesia and that I was not completely out. They were trying to get to my stomach through my eye. I hope I sleep better tonight and the nightmares stay away. Just 2 more days.
