  1. Thank goodness. Instead of full liquids, I get two weeks of mushies. Well I should say my diet says 2 meal replacement shakes per day, 2 protein drink snacks per day, and 1/2 cup pureed food twice a day.

    Two Days post op

For me, I was told no Protein shakes for the first 3 days. Just Clear liquids like broth etc. I guess doctor instructions vary. I did experience the same thing, but it got better each day. I was also instructed not to force finishing a shake. Put it in the refrigerator and finish it later.

    Diarrhea?!

I asked my doctor during my one week post op appointment because I was experiencing the same. He suggested I get some imodium if it didn't clear up in a couple days.
  4. Walk Walk Walk. I thought I was going to put a hole in the living room carpet from the path I was making, but it help a lot.
  5. Banded 6 days ago. I'm on two weeks of full liquids and have diarrhea. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to take something for it yet. I see the doctor for my one week follow up in a couple days and will talk to him about it if it continues. I hope that is normal. It makes me wonder if I'm now lactose intolerant as I have been mixing my Protein shake with skim milk. My stomach growls often heh. I hope the passing of gas will stop eventually. Have others experienced this?
  6. I'm on the full liquids too and dream of the musy stage which is still 10 days away. I do think getting out of the house is key. I went to a movie and drank a vitamin water.
  7. I'm 7 days post op, and I didn't feel like eating the first couple days, but by day 3 I was ready for the full liquid diet

    Day 9 of pre-op liquid

Just try to get back on track for the pre op diet. The idea is to shrink the liver. I was able to have a meal replacement for breakfast and small portions of meat and vegetable for lunch and supper (2-4 oz meat with 1/2 cup vegtable and 1/2 meal replacement) for day 1-7. Snacks were a protein bar or liquid. At 3 days prior is when I had to have only clear liquids with no caffeine or carbonated drinks. As much as I felt hungry, the idea of giving my surgeon the best conditions possible for sucessful surgery kept me focused. My nurse who prepped me for surgery said they see the pre op weight loss average of about 20lbs.

    Tomorrow, Tomorrow...

It was one week today. I had to stay in overnight as I think my insurance required it. It was not so bad, but yes the gas will be a pain so walk at will. The only issue was calling a nurse to unhook the heart monitor and the leg things they put on to prevent clotting. My doctor's rule was if in bed, the leg things were always on. They actually like it when you are up walking. The wing in the hospital I was in was only for bariatric patients so that was great. Good luck!!
  10. I'm in the exact same boat in that I was banded April 26th with plication. Yes I get cravings for food but I'm not sure what is mental or physical. I'm on two weeks of full liquids and cannot have puree food until week 3. As hungry as I think I am, I'm sticking to the plan because my fear of the stomach not healing properly outweighs the attempt to eat something. I have a sugar free popsicle when the craving gets too strong. I so look forwarded to weeks 5,6, 7 when I can at least add some soft food. Good luck
  11. I lost 18 lbs during the 2 week pre opt diet. The nurse who was prepping me for surgery said they normally see folks lose about 20lbs.

    I'm 51 -- too old?

I just got banded at 53. Good luck
  13. Banded two days ago with plication. Gas pains are settling down. Walking as soon as I have them helps a lot. I slept in a recliner last night which was good for me. I'm on 3 more days of clear liquid diet, then I start two weeks of full liquids(protein shakes etc). I gave myself my first injection of lovenox, which was not bad. My daughter is making some chicken tacos which smells so good, so I'm sure I'm not hungry anywhere but in my mind. I'm curious to see if I will need a fill or with the plication will I be good. Anyway good luck to all the upcoming banders

    Gas????

I just got banded and had bad gas pains. The best thing to do is walk. The first night and day after surgery as soon as gas pains started I walked. The nurses all stressed getting up and walking to help with the gas. By the 2nd day the gas pains were not as frequent.
  15. Needless to say I'm nervous and I pray that all goes well. I more nervous about the plication part, but my doctor said the people who have had this fairly new procedure are faring well with some not even needing a fill at the 6 week point. He did say that he don't recommend having just the plication. The pre op diet was ok for the most part. I did have my moments, but sugar free popsicles to the rescue. Well I will post as soon as I can on how it went.
  16. I'm having the same surgery April 25th. Im sure nervous about it. My doctor studied the procedure at Duke. He thinks I will be happy with it. Based on your experience on recovery I have my doubts.
  17. I'm having this done April 25th. My doctor thinks this will be the preferred weight loss surgery going forward. I'm interested in hearing from others who have had this done.
