  1. Hi Christie wanted to see how you were doing. I have hit a stall here at 3 weeks and it's killin' me:-( How is your loss coming...from what everyone is telling me it's normal and happens to most as our bodies adjust but it's still so discouraging! Hope your doing well on yours...we're gonna DO THIS! :-)

    female question

I was the same way and it just now slowed down. I'll be 3 weeks out tomorrow and it slowed about 2-3 days ago and it's stopped now. I was wondering the same thing but it did stop so don't worry!

    Hungry hungry hungry

I wish I could help you more Christie but I have only had slight hunger pains and they were very far between each other, so it's not constant. I have had plenty of head hunger but no real bad hunger pains. Acid is killing me though it's waking me up at night for at least 2-3 hours..I just put in a call to my surgeon to try something else for it:-( I am eating solid (but soft) foods though. I have had tuna and chicken etc. I can only handle about 5 half spoons but it's something and it does help fill me up, maybe you should try some tuna it went down well for me:biggrin0: I hope you keep a positive attitude..everyone is different and I know it's all gonna get better, keep your spirits up:001_wub:
  5. I've been taking the chewable pepcid complete and had horrible acid last night, it kept me up for a good 2 hours! What would you guys recommend that I try..and I don't want to harm my new tummy with the carbonate:blink:
  6. I am now able to progress my diet and see what I can tolerate. I have tried some soft ground beef, chicken and a couple bites of mac & cheese which are doing good. I also has 3 TINY bites of hot dog (baseball game, with no other option) and it wasn't as pleasant. I know to stay away from it right now. I'm just wondering what all of you guys did for your diet progression, am I trying too much too fast? My stomach seems to tolerate it pretty good just a lil acid after some of it. I do have one major question..I love salads so when did you guys try lettuce? I'm afraid to try it too soon i'm not sure how it would feel going down:blink:! Any suggestions and tips are greatly appreciated...just want to know what I should be trying and what I should be staying away from. So far i'm averaging about 800-1000 calories a day, including my protein. Thanks for the tips:thumbup:

    Soft Food Questions...

Thank you for the link....I don't have to blend my food, is that normal? I've just been chewing really good! I'm hoping i'm not stretching out my stomach. All these worries about "real" food and how to know if i'm doing the right thing. I meet with my dietician sometime this week so hopefully I can get some answers from her too! Thanks guys:biggrin0:

Yes..so happy to read your post! Congrats. on doing do awesome:thumbup: I'm one week out and feel the exact same way. Way to go! Amen..preach it:biggrin0:
  9. I am finally myself again..ahhhh it feels so nice! I talked to my doctor and he said to start full liquid since i'm doing so good. I have ate: pudding, soft cheese, oatmeal, grits and can't wait to have everything else that's on my list. It's so nice to only eat a 1/4 of something and feel full I have never had that happen before. My swelling is almost gone and I drink and swallow just fine now. I am drinking my Protein down which the thicker shakes do still have a lil trouble getting down, it just takes it a while to make it down. I am walking and doing everything I was doing before, we even went to the grocery store yesterday! Life is going so good now and I am happy to report I am now at 260! Last month before pre-op diet I was 280:thumbup:! I wanted to kinda tell my day by day story of post-op so here's up to day 6. Day 1- In some pain but dealing with it okay. Still on chips and sips but can't hardly swallow them down. I did throw up about 4 times while in the hospital due to the swelling in my throat. sleeping mostly as the meds are still in my system. Taking it slow but trying to walk a couple mins at a time. I am going to the bathroom but it did take me about 5 mins of sitting there to finally be able to pee:mellow:! Just resting...later that evening I got to come home..Yipee! Day 2- Ugh, the worst of my days I think. I did take some pain med this day. Still walking as much as I can, circled the bed I don't know how many times. Trying to keep my Fluid in, swelling is still bad in my throat and my sternum hurts with every swallow. Jello and sf popsicles are the only things I can manage to get down. Resting, resting, resting the best thing to do! Not too much pain form my cuts, they are looking okay. Day 3- Getting slowly better at standing and walking longer. Done taking pain meds and taking liquid tylenol. Still living off jello and my popsicles, although I do notice that luke warm Water goes down okay but still have pain in my sturnum. Resting as much as I can and walking around as much as I can. Woke up in middle of night with acid:eek: oh boy did it hurt! I forgot to take my pepcid before bed, not making that mistake again. Waited abouy 30 mins and fell back alseep. Day 4- I have arrived, the first day I finally feel normal! Swelling has gone way down and I can drink and eat my liquids so much better! I slept for the first night all the way through and feel great! I can sleep on my stomach now (just have to be careful rolling over.) Taking no meds except my pepcid! Tried getting some protein in today with a shake. I was able to drink about a 1/4 of it. Walking as much as I want and resting when i'm not. My first full night's sleep..it felt sooo goood! Cuts are doing good and still not having any pain form them at all. Day 5- I'm me, I'm me...well just without my stomach:lol0:! Today has been the best day yet. I am feeling so good! I am able to eat and drink like normal (with a sleeve) and feel my sleeve has finally adjusted and relaxed! I still get gurggles and burp with I drink but I know that's gonna be there for a while. I really haven't had any major discomfort. Took my first trip out of the house to the store. Had to get things for my full liquids week that I start:thumbup: thanks to my doc okaying me to do so! Full nights sleep last night also! Day 6- FULL LIQUIDS! Today has been GREAT...I had some oatmeal for Breakfast. It was so nice to get to chew and swallow something thick! Pudding for a snack (about 3 spoons.) Grits for lunch and then some soft cheese for a snack. I have been doing water and gatorade in between. I did drink my Protein Shake but it was taking a long time to get down so I might have find another one to try. Today is my first day home by myself with my 19 month old and we're doing fine. I am getting full nights sleep and feeling good when I wake up! I have my 1 week post-op appt. on Thurs. I'm starting to love this sleeve:001_wub:!

    6 Days Out & Whew....

Had my 1 week post-op today with my dr. everything went great! 19 pounds down so far and he gave the green light for ALL activity which means I can start working out:001_tt2: watch these pounds fall off! He said I am healing very well and he'll see me back in a month. Starting life with the sleeve is wonderful:001_wub: @Bev-I use the laughing cow creamy swiss..it's in a round wheel with lilttle triangles inside. I also have the round semi-soft in swiss and cheddar.

Your doing great! Your are so awesome and congrats on the weight loss:thumbup:! Thank you for all the advice, your such a great person. Happy to hear your update.
  13. I am doing much better today on day 4 but I really just want some pudding or something with some substance. Did everyone wait the full 7 days to go onto full liquids? Maybe it's just my stomach talking which actually has a feeling today and i'm excited for:thumbup:! Pain is gone and I have been off my pain meds since day 2! I am finally starting to feel like me again and it's so nice..just wondering if I might could try some pudding tomorrow on day 5or even day 6 or should I wait for the full 7?
  14. @Samie- yes I do I live just north of Jacksonville! We have our season tickets and are always in g-ville come game day! Everyone keeps saying it does get easier and I know it will:biggrin0: I only have till tues so i'm hoping to stick it out until then but if not I might ask my Dr. the same thing. I'm actaully able to eat a whole thing of jell-o just takes me about 15 mins which I hope is normal:tongue_smilie: How are things at 2 months out?

    Day 3 Post-Op

I was happy not to have to get a drain..so I know you will be so happy to have it out! Pepcid complete chewables is what my Dr. told me to take and it works amazingly! I would def. recommend taking it it helps me through the day I take one in the morning and one at night. I only take it both times now because I woke up the other night when I dind't take it with terrible acid pain:scared0: I am happy too that we all seem to be having the same troubles so far. I was suprised to with how much the swelling hurt and how long it took to get past it even a little just today. I know it improves everyday so I know it's gonna get better. Hang in there guys we're on our way:biggrin0:!
  16. I'm having trouble getting my protein in...I just started yesterday (3 days out) I can only very, very, very slowly sip on my shakes because of my sternum feeling which I assume is the swelling. Is just getting some better than none or should I be trying something else? I have been concentrating on not getting dehydrated because I do not want to go back to the hospital, so I have been doing jello and sf popsicles as much as I can. I estimate i'm getting around 20 grams. I know it's gonna get easier but for now that's all I can do! Any advice is greatly appreciated..thank you guys!

Happy to hear your doing better! Today is day 4 for me and is the best by far!!! My swelling has finally gone down some and I can actually drink and swallow much better. I feel better too, walking around def. helps. My back is painful too but mostly form the way I have been laying in bed the past 4 days. Last night was my first full night of sleep and on my stomach..ahhh, it felt so good! It only gets better:biggrin0:!
  18. Thanks guys I ate some soup earlier and feel pretty good now, just getting tired of the same things! I only have to be clear until Tues. and then I can start on full liquids and then start my soft. I can make it I know I can it's all worth it in the end:lol0:!

    Run Away !!!!!

I just had my sleeve done Wed. by Dr. Webb at St. Lukes. Sorry to hear you had a rough surgery. Which surgeon did your surgery? I hope you are getting better. My only problem is some swelling in my throat/sternum area which makes it a lil uncomfotable to drink but other than that I'm progressing well. How are you doing today? I pray you will be on the road to a good recovery!:001_smile:
  21. Well I'm home..got sleeved wed. and came home thurs! I am doing okay with evrything only it's really hard to drink liquid like my water. I can do Jello and my sf popsicles which have been my saving grace but there's so much swelling that I can feel it going down and it hurts slightly. I didn't know if anyone else had this problem. My inscisons are doing great and really don't hurt it's mostly thr air, gas and swelling. Any info would be greatly appreciated!
  22. Less than 24 hours and I will be walking through the hospital doors:001_wub:! I will try and update as soon as I can after surgery if not then I will try and teach my husband how to:lol0: The day is finally here..WOW! Hope to update as soon as I can wish me luck...and thanks for the prayers!

    Is VSG right for me?

I didn't want to go as drastic as GB and also didn't want to have the band in me all the time. I also have 2 small kids and going for fills or withdraws all the time would be a pain. I also read so many stories about problems with the band and I didn't want to risk going back and forth with problems if they should arise. I decided the sleeve was right for me...and I know about that reaction, my parents and husband were all for it but my sister was not happy. She gave me the "easy way out" and all the other speeches. In the end it's what makes you and your family happy it's YOUR body and YOUR health! Good luck with everything and welcome:biggrin0:! Oh and I am self-pay, I am getting sleeved on Wed. and I know it's going to be worth it! You might wanna look at getting a loan I know there are a couple different options.
