I am a diabetic but 2 mos out and 38 lbs down since my preop diet and 30 lbs down since surgery and I am off all my meds. Blood sugars are perfect, under 100 at all times. No prilosec anymore either. They had to take me off a low dose of BP medication because I wad fainting due to low BP. I wanted this even more than the weight loss. I feel great. Time to walk the dog.

Guess I will be on plateau for a few days
Sistersue replied to hopetolose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every month I plateau, I don't bleed any more but I still have cycle because I had an oblation a few years ago. I assume it's because of hormones. But it always happens just as I hit the next level. Last month it was just as was going to hit 40 lbs down, this month I was less than a pound from 50 lbs gone, Urghhhh!!!!!! Now I will fluctuate up and down pound until it's over. It sucks! -
Banded yesterday and worried
Sistersue replied to Little Teapot's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you doctor says youre okay make sure you are walking like you are supposed to. The gas pains can be terrible but get better if you waLk even if you don't feel like walking. Make sure younger drinking too. -
I don't even know what just happend
Sistersue replied to FadnoMore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
FYI, when I said I'm sorry, I meant it as I'm sorry that you felt so bad. It's pretty crappy how devalued we start to feel. As big people. I've often felt my opinions were discounted because of my weight. Or I wasn't wanted. -

I'm sorry. Keep in mind that you will be losing soon and it will be staying off too! Juliat is right you are healing. You have take care of the physical hunger and learn to bear the mental stuff. Frankly diet pudding and sugar free Popsicles helped me. Restriction is coming, just work on not gaining. -
How long will I feel this way?
Sistersue replied to rowekins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, it's normal. Keep in mind some of your hunger may be head hunger and not stomach hunger it takes time to figure that out. Think of it as an addict jonesing for a fix. It uncomfortable but overtime if you don't give into it, it will go away. Make sure you are walking enough. I walked 1 to 2 miles a day broken up throughout the day. It help with gas and healing in general. I started out shuffling like a little old man and I live in a small town so everybody saw and wanted to know what was the matter. I didn't care. -
Calories....Calories...Calories
Sistersue replied to FadnoMore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Find a food tracking site like Daily Plate on the Livestrong site. I like this site because it also tracks fat, protein, carbs, sodium, and cholesterol too. -
completely devestated today. HELP!
Sistersue replied to akri's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same thing happen and it still happens from time to time. Its water, not fat! To gain 4 lbs of fat you would have to consume more than 12,000 extra calories. You didn't do that. Maybe it's hormones, may be you didnt drink enough. Don't fret it, just make sure you drink enough and maybe up the amount some. It will come off and then you will be off and running again. Today I am .8 lbs more than yesterday. I had salted nuts yesterday, and I never eat anything salted so to day I put on water. The worst part is that my family asked meal the time how much have you lost now every time they see me. I just say oh about the same when I'm having these water weight struggles. I would say look at your overall calorie consumption and make sure you are getting around 1000 calories and maybe up to 1200. My Doc wants it closer to 1000 though. Don't eat too little. -
What do you use protein shakes for?
Sistersue replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't physically eat in the morning, everything gets stuck, even yogurt, and that was when I didn't have a fill. I have a shake in the morning, I combine unflavored protein powder with fruit like an apple, crystal light and yogurt. Sort of like a normal breakfast but blended together. -
Starting weight 239.6 Weight this morning 234.2 More than 1/2 way there and until yesterday I have exercised each day. Yesterday I cleaned house all day so maybe that still counts.

That isn't normal. I would call you dr. It could be a reaction to a medication.

How much did you eat post op?
Sistersue replied to Beachy_Babs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Babs, you might want to start using a tracker like Daily Plate. At day 11 I was still on clear liquids ( and about ready to eat my left arm). When I did get to eat mushies someone suggested chicken salad, canned chicken, low fat mayo, and dill relish, it tasted like heaven. I also made my own apple sauce by pureeing apples in my blender with the skin on but cored of course and then cooking them well. Don't add sugar and over ripe apples work great I like mine with cinnamon. -
Help!!! I ate too much, 3 weeks banded and was doing great!
Sistersue replied to kellyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had another thought, what about the pizza do like best? The cheese? The pepperoni? Whatever it is why not incorporate that in your diet more? Then you will feel less deprived and you can skip the calories of the rest of the slice. I really like BBQ sandwiches, so I get the meat by itself and skip all the sides. On pizza I like the crisp pepperoni, so I could get some on the way home and put that I. A pan for myself. I am craving antipasti today. -
i need to learn how to chew and eat as a banded person
Sistersue replied to options123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds to me like you might be eating too fast. In my experience, something in the throat isn't being stuck, that really hurts and you slime and all. My advice, chew chew, chew and when you think you are done chew some more for good measure. We don't get that much so making it last is a good thing. Cut your food up into small pieces before you start eating and put the fork down after each bite. If I am having a hard time I watch the clock and go 3 to 5 mins between bites. I like it, eating is more relaxed. -
Help!!! I ate too much, 3 weeks banded and was doing great!
Sistersue replied to kellyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first day I could eat mushies I ate 6 little cups of apple sauce and thing of yogurt. Before would you have stopped at at two pieces? Don't beat yourself up too much. You said you hadn't eaten dinner andj I think that's maybe where you could change something in the future. Before the pizza arrives make sure you eat you 3 to 4oz of lean protein, then when the pizza gets there you wont be so tempted. Keep in mind that the band won't make the right decisions for you. You have to do that. At the beginning it can be hard to tell head hunger (or the little food addict in you head) from physical hunger. Head hunger is what we need to resist. All that said, we all slip. If you beat yourself up about it you can get discouraged and give up. Like Scarlet Ohara said, Tomorrow is a new day. -
Today I graduated to mushies

MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!
Sistersue replied to MarcyLoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all, I was banded on March 25 and got my first fill, 4ccs on May 11. It hurt, OMG, it hurt! Not during but about 20 mins later, like he stretched some scar tissue. I feel some restriction, and am fuller longer. I've lost 44 lbs since this journey began. I feel great, and am off most meds. At 40lbs I cut my hair. At 50lbs I think I'll get a Mani-pedi. I like to treat myself when I hit a goal. At some point I want to do a whole makeover. I am going to Rome next summer and can't wait to be comfortable on a plane. -

Cheat foods not bothering me?!
Sistersue replied to teekii77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tryingtolose24 guilt is the enemy of any addict. You might want to attend a couple of OA meetings and see how you like them. I prefer AA, OA meeting I tried was run by a woman who was too pushy. What you really want is a One Day At ATime chip. Put it in your pocket and give it a squeeze any time you want to cheat. That said, sugar free Popsicles and pudding can keep you from feeling deprived or if you crave something salty find a low calorie snack that will satisfy you. I also tell myself that in 20 mins if I still want whatever it is then I can have 1/2 a taco or whatever. Usually I totally forget about it by then. If it gets to the 20 min mark and you are still craving it cut it in half and throw the other half in the trash before you start eating and eat really slow and savor it. I also rely on pray a lot, it works. -
surgery date may 9th
Sistersue replied to BWOODSCGIRL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is the best thing you can do for yourself and you deserve it. Keep coming back here and we will help you with all you questions and frustrations! Good Luck! -
I've seenthe exact same thing. I lost a bunch right after surgery but didn't do liquid diet before surgery. The I stalled when I was eating 700 to 800 cal. Now that I'm eating 1000 to 1100 each day I'm back to loosing. Water is very important to losing too. Keep in mind too that if you are female you may not lose during that TOM.
