The June Bug Challenge
Sistersue replied to size10again's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Checking in at 221.2, down 1.2 lbs this week and down 3.8 for the month. A lot slower this month than last and I am a bit disappointed. -
I would like to be able to say I fell off the wagon, but I didn't I jumped off with arms in the air crying Wheeeeeeee..........! I have been so good for 3 mos. Today is 35 th anniversary of the company I work for and they passed around ice cream. When they came to my desk I said no, initially. Then that little addict inside my head me popped out and whispered it's okay you can have ice cream your not on a diet this is new way of living, it isn't cheating. Come on, you deserve ice cream,Come on,come on,come on, it's okay. So I went and got some. It was GOOD! And when I was done the little addict in my head who had whispered before now said, I WANTMORE!,!!!!! MORE! MORE! MORE! I was jonesing so bad! I now know for sure I am addicted to some foods. Of course I went and got another one. The funny thing is the band worked, I got full and I'm good. No late night stops at the DQ. I know I need to watch it for a few days but I think I'll be okay. Thanks for listening.

Jumped off the wagon today
Sistersue replied to Sistersue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today I carefully checked my calories and then had a small piece of cake because I had too few calories. I would do this everyday or even every week but every now and then. -
Fustrated with lack of weight loss
Sistersue replied to jen_ngah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Make sure you are getting a good amount of exercise, whatever your doc says you can do. Walking is usually allowed at this point. As they let you build intensity. That a really good way to get things going. -
I can't eat any kind of bread. It all gets stuck no matter what I do. I've given up on it.

Hello, protein can come from different sources and people tolerate them differently. Whey protein comes from cows milk, soy protein, from soy, hemp protein from hemp, it can also come from eggs and spiralna(sp?). Get singlE serving packets and give them a try. Everyone is different and what I like you might hate. GNC will allow you to return protein powders that you don't like.

MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!
Sistersue replied to MarcyLoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh MarcyLoo I am so sorry about your kitties. I agree with tntmom it wouldn't have mattered how much you weigh they are just so small. I've now lost 57 lbs all but about 12 of that after banding. I feel great and off all my meds. My dad bought me a bike when I lost 50lbs and I am up to 7 miles at a time. I also have a dog and walk her. Last night we walked 4 miles. I want to get up to 10 miles on my bike. People sometimes don't recognize me now especially people I haven't seen since the surgery. I wish I had done this years ago. I've only had one fill, 5ccs in a 10cc band. I don't get hungry any more very often. Overall I am very happy. -

Jumped off the wagon today
Sistersue replied to Sistersue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, this morning when I got on the scale I had stillmanged to lose .2 lbs ice cream and all. I was worried about freezer full of left over ice cream but I didn't even want any. I actually had a really good day. I really had no physical hunger or head hunger allday and had to remember to eat. Weird, but good. -

Discouraged with the band.
Sistersue replied to TanksMama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tanks mama, FYI it was 103 today where I live, in Texas, and it's not a dry heat either. I exercise after about 8 pm because it works with my schedule. I started out walking about 4 blocks, or 1/4 mile. Now I walk up to 3 miles and can bile 7 miles all in the same day and I weight about 223 right now. As for the gym. I have a membership and what found is the the really fit people love to see me at the gym and are helpful and encouraging. A lot of them have had weight issues too. My gym publishes those stories in our bulletin, you would be suprized. As for the rest, and I am part of a religious order so I don't daytime lightly, f@k 'em! It's your body and your life you are trying to improve both of them. If they can't deal with that it say more about them and their insecurities. Be proud of the weight you've lost already! Celebrate each step on your way. I'll bet most of them haven't lost that much. Who cares what they think. They don't know you. -
Post op complications - not losing weight
Sistersue replied to smartdiva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you tried soy or hemp protein? I have to use those, not whey. Most people don't have any fill in there band until weeks after surgery, it's called bandster hell. Sometimes it takes several fills to get reaction. But be patient it will come. -
Discouraged with the band.

The Wii is great we have one at work. The first time I used it I just tried the bowling and tennis and got my heart rate up. The best part was I didn't mind, it was fun. Don't forget to get a fill too. See if your doc has a support group. -
I feel sorry for my coworkers when I get stuck at work. Sometimes I can make it to the bathroom, sometimes I have find a trash can. Jack I know from experience what happens when you talk on the phone and eat and it ain't pretty.

Hi Travis, for me full feels very different than it did prior to surgery. So you may just have to listen to your body. For me I now feel overfull as a sharp pain in my back. It's different for everyone. As for the stomach growling. That's normal, I think it's gas. It goes away in a few weeks.

What's the deal with Greek Yogurt anyay?
Sistersue replied to NJGirl32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I sometimes make my own Greek yogurt to save money and FYI you can make even thicker and creamier. First you line a strainer with coffee filters then add plain yogurt and place over a bowl. I put a bit of plastic wrap over the yogurt and then put it in the fridge overnight. The next mornignyou have really thick creamy Greek yogurt. Sometimes I leave it longer and it gets to be almost the consistancy of cream cheese. -
Hi Cindy, I was told no ibuprofen at all or aspirin, only Tylenol. Also I think ibuprofen causes kidney damage. In fact I know it can, because it did for me a few years ago. I had a doctor who prescribed 8 a day because she was an alcoholic and drinking on the job. I got a new dr who found the problem and took me off 8 a day. Tylenol can cause liver damage though.

I will sell them in a yard sale and what doesn't sell will be added to the clothes closet I run to support local charities.
