4 days after Surgery, I need more than Shakes ???
Sistersue replied to Ask4me1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do what your doc says and don't start soft foods too early. Your stomach needs to heal. Keep to your diet. Think of this as boot camp for training to be in control. Make sure you get your fluids in, that helps with hunger too. -

Sistersue replied to size10again's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You may too tight but try a course of prilosec, much better than tums or pepcid. -

Susan checking in 211.8, down.8 this week. Hope for better next week. I really want to get below 210. -
Keep in mind that there will be times when the scale doesn't move much. It's good to take some measurements now keep track of the inches you lose. At times I've lost an inch on my waist when I wasn't losing any lbs. Usually within a few days the scale drops. Other times you stop losing as much because you need to kick up your activity level. I think all of you are doing great. This is the point where you learn to eat and move like a skinny person. The lessons you learn now will help you in the long run.

What a difference a day can make :)
Sistersue replied to Jsrodgers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah! Good luck on your journey! -
I'm at 6.5cc I am in the green zone. 4mos out 66lbs gone. Don't go to the red and lose your band.
-
I tried my skinny jeans today and I got them buttoned an zipped, no problem!

I'm 4 mos out and this is my advice, Ive lost 66 lbs so far. 1. Track your food, how much protein, calories, carbs, etc. Make sure you are getting 70 gms of protein each day and go light on the carbs. Remember protein first and don't drink with your meals. 30mins before or after. 2. track your water, at least 64 oz a day, I lose best closer to 100oz a day 3. Exercise daily, start slow and build up. The more you move the more you lose. Track this as well, preferably on something like livestrong.com so you can compare this to your calorie intake. 4. Get enough fiber to keep your digestion moving. 5. Don't go too tight. If you are too tight you are more likely to slip or just be miserable. Instead Learn to eat slowly and enjoy the food. I like chewing a lot. Why I used to gulpband swallow I don't know. 6. Limit liquid calories and slider foods. That said I do allow myself one WW mini ice-cream sandwich a day so I don't binge. Eventually you don't need to track everyday. But when I slow down a bit I go back to tracking.

I guess I cant talk about it anymore!

When I had cancer i had people tell me they would rather die than go through chemo. How stupid is that? People say stupid things all the time. -
One of my goal pants I will only get to wear for a couple more weeks, I forgot about them and now they are too big! I have another pair that I try one once a week and slowly they are getting closer and closer to fitting. Soon, very soon.

Sobriety and The Lap Band
Sistersue replied to jennypenny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Texas. I was a smoker too! The shame is a real kicker. That's one more reason I tell everyone I have a band. I will never let myself be ashamed again. There is nothing to ashamed of having the band so I won't act like there is. I see so many people out in the world trying to eat, drink, or dope up there feeling of shame. Usually the initial shame wasnt their fault, family issues or the like, but they add to that trying to be numb. We do silly things like closet eating that just adds up. At some point you have to start clearing it all out and dealing with it. I wonder if there is an addiction area in this place? -
Is this the way it will be???
Sistersue replied to hopetolose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the same issue. I don't understand why I can consistently do everything the same, foes, water, and exercise and not loose at the same rate every day. I hope you get there soon! -
Sobriety and The Lap Band
Sistersue replied to jennypenny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Jenny, I have 15 years clean, I was addicted to Valium. I substituted food for Valium. Ive been ready to give up food for a long time but I needed the band to do it. I think the first post op week was sort of like getting clean for me. It felt like detox at times, without the DTs. It has taken all the coping skills I learned in AA to get through the first month or so. It is hard, you can't quit food, but you can quit all the things that trigger you. I don't eat bread and couldn't if I tried, because I did try and it hurt. That was a big trigger for me. I'm 3mos out and it's good now, not perfect but manageable. I didn't like OA but it works for some people. -

Me too, I wish I did it years ago. That's why I tell people I have a lap band so they know. Maybe it will help someone. -

best friend upset because I didn't tell her I was banded
Sistersue replied to dramastarr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
She might also have beating herself up all this time wondering she couldn't do what you had done. Maybe I'm weird but when someone especially someone with weight problem notices I've lost weight I tell them I have a band. I'm not embarrassed by it. I am not doing anything wrong by getting it. So far only one person said anything negative and that was just that she would never do it. Everyone else has been wonderful. Most people just want more information about doing it. I would love it if someone came to and said they got the band because of me. I would feel saved a life. -
I did it! I reached my first HUGE Goal!

Let's Talk Exercise!
Sistersue replied to livingmydream's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought I was exercising pretty good before the band but I've gone to a whole new level. I was walking daily about 30 to 40 mins. Now I ride my bike as many day a week I can and rumor walk about 1 hour a day. Asmy weight drops it gets easier anymore enjoyable. -

Hmmmmm........216.8, up .2lbs. Not sure what's going on. I was at 215.8 but gained a bit of water I think, I hope. I've started running and my clothes fit looser so I'm not going to worry. I hope next week is better.
