Liquids help a lot after a major sticking episode. Drink lots of hot tea too. It helps the stomach settle down. I only had to do it for one day but you just have to see.

Yup Lizzy is right. I am 4weeks out. I didn't feel anything like normal until day4 or 5. I walked a lot 1 to 2 miles a day. Just shuffling along. Drink lots of water. Do what your dr says. Get as much protein as you can, think of what you eat as medicine and not entertainment. Day 5 I wanted to knaw domaines arm off I was so hungry. Popsicles and jello got me through. I tried yogurt early and it got stuck. Pretty soon you will be eating pureed meat and loving it, ha ha! Hold on it gets better!

Nothing tastes the same
Sistersue replied to sandy1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really think it's the detox thing and ketosis (sp?). 4 weeks out, I'm not as attracted to sweets as I was. Chocolate still doesn't taste great. It doesn't taste different, I just dont see I'm it what I once did. I have no desire for bread at all. Fruit tastes great as do most normal foods. I'm happy. -

MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!
Sistersue replied to MarcyLoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all, as of right now I've lost 40 lbs from my first visit with my doc. So yesterday I treated myself to a hair cut. The people at my church are the best! They have all been so nice. Some of them told me they didn't even recognize me! even my best friend. It's weird, I don't normally get compliments on how I look. I love reading all your posts. Cyber hugs for everyone! -
I found drinking water helps with the hunger. Also sometime I am really head hungry and not body hungry, if you know what I mean. My water weight stayed for 4 or 5 days. Popsicles help a lot sort give you the sense of eat, sugar free of course, sugar free jello helps too.

In need of help! newly banded
Sistersue replied to Lady Lexie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Remember liquid in, liquid out. About 1/2 the people are constipated, the other 1/2 have diarrhea. It will go away with mushies. Imodium works good. I can't use the whey protein stuff it has to be soy or hemp or something. It gets better. -
I haven't had any pain so I don't know what you are going through but I have heard of others having this issue and I think they trie moving the port. Without the band I could keep for eating the stuff I shouldn't.

Eating too much- stitch in Side
Sistersue replied to CincyUdy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get that too! -
I use unflavored soy protein powder from gnc. It has 25gms of protein. I started out adding this to frozen and liquid crystal light and blending it.you have to give the powder time to dissolve so blend it, wait 10min and blend it again. I wasn't getting enough calories so now I blend it with some frozen fruit and yogurt. That way I get some fiber and calcium. I love it. I can't stand the other stuff. It all tastes like chemicals to me.

Finally told my family today
Sistersue replied to hopetolose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Hope, I'm glad it went so well. I needed my family's support financially to help pay a few bills early on so I told them pretty early. I was amazed at how well they took it too. But I know they love me and just want me tone happy. The only person who hasn't been supportive is one of my coworkers. She is big too and seems to think this is the easy way out, like I'm cheating by doing it this way. The good thing is she is really working at trying to lose weight too and I am really happy she's doing well at it. -
avg. weight loss after the band
Sistersue replied to Bucky Allen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on March 25 and I lost 12 lbs preop and 26 post op so far. My bmi was over 40 when I started and now under 40. Yeah! I only obese now! I know it will slow down but I'm glad I'm getting a running start. -
Is it all worth it to you??
Sistersue replied to juzmejnee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got the band when I realized I was planning for a retirement that I knew I would never get to enjoy. I've only lost 36 lbs so far but I feel so much better. Today I fit into size 16 pants down for 24 at my biggest, I don't even remember the last time I wore this size. -
You are a great example for the newly banded like me who get told we have to lose at least 1/2 our weight in the first 6 mos or they are a failure. I have a co-worker who it took a year for her get in the green zone but now she's there and it's really working for her. We need to know that we don't all lose at the same rate and if it takes time to reach you sweet spot, don't give up. Maybe those people were really just afraid.

Hi all, I was banded on 3/25/2011 so 3.5 weeks out I have been eating more or less regular for the last 3 days. Today I had a bit of hamburger for lunch and again for supper. I finished the meat for supper and started on some beans. OMG! It hurt so bad. I threw up some. But it took a while. I feel better now but still like I need to burp, even though I did burp a bunch. Is this what people mean when they say they got stuck? What can I do to keep from it happening again. Should I have allowed myself to thow up? I'm a bit scared now. Any advise would be great. When do you have to go to the ER? Also my back hurts now,is that normal? Not too bad I'm just being a weenie about it.

Low Carb, High Protein Diet
Sistersue replied to kdyke111909's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's what I'm eating now. I get at least 70 grams of protein a day, 25gms from unflavored protein powder in my morning shake and the rest from lean meats. No bread, pasta or rice, but I do eat veggies and some fruit with every meal. I snack on yogurt or cottage cheese. My blood sugar is way down even though the doc cut my meds in half. I hope to get off them soon. -
Are you satisfied with "Average" weight loss???
Sistersue replied to bambam31's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm already almost there (50-60% ) with no fill. I want more. My doc wants me to lose more than I would need to for a normal bmi I would be happy with normal. -
Headache when eating
Sistersue replied to LynNBlueSprings's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What are you eating? I've not had the issue. Usually I have a headache and eating helps. You should talk to your doc, you might have an allergy to what you're eating. -
Shoud I or should I not
Sistersue replied to martinbjl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My only regret is that I didn't do it 10 years ago. -
Make sure you are getting enough water, vitamins, and minerals. Water is critical. There is an article on live strong.com that explains why you need so much water to loose weight. As for the v&ms and protein for that matter, without these your body thinks you are trying to do it in and will hold on to fat at the expense of the rest of your body. You are really in a battle with your body at this point in some ways. If you are sticking to your diet and excercise plan you will eventually win. Don't give up! We are here for you!

Am I the only one truly struggling with this?
Sistersue replied to cheleand3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know where I would be without y'all. Next time I got to the store I will look for the v8 soups. Hmmm..... Autocorrect changed I don't to icing, little Freudian slip I think. -
Have you checked to see if you are losing inches? Muscle weighs more than fat. And for women especially you might be retaining water.

Lap Band Surgery Day Stories
Sistersue replied to pennyt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Pandagirl, if you don't mind I will add you to my prayers. I will pray that you are able to get whatever you need to get your surgery. I would have been a mess if I went through all I did and didn't get my surgery. Ialmost didn't because my insurance company messed up but in the I got the surgery.
