i was banded on friday and i'm doing ok. the worse part for me has been the port pain. I have a hard time getting inout of bed cuz i feel like i'm ripping my insides apart. I'm drinking a protein shake right now and i never thought i would miss the taste. but it's good to have something other than jello and crystal light. i havent been out of the house yet..might venture out today once my friend comes by just to walk around the neighborhood. well my sister finally came and brought me some flowers, a card and some balloons, but she still hasnt asked my about the surgery. i'm over that now. i have to concentrate on healing and figuring out better ways to get out of bed without feeling like my insides are ripping apart! FYI...dont sleep on the couch! yeah it's toooooo low and i bout cried when i tried to get up! Cant wait for you to join me on the other side! lol how's the diet going?

surgery went well. i had a small hernia repair, still cant believe that one. still in a lot of pain mostly at the port site when i get up/down from bed. quickly firgured out the couch is not my friend! yeah i'm gonna have figure out a name for my band now. Good idea. hope everyone is recuperating well!

ok i'm only 2 days post op and still have excrutiating pain when i get in/out of bed, I found out the hard way not to lay on the couch cuz it's toooo low alothough comfy. finally able to sleep on my side. I found that i'm moving around like an old lady scared i'm gonna bust a stitch at my port. Any suggestion how to get out of bed with less pain?>??? please help!

i was just banded yesterday and my surgoen has you sign a form stating if he finds one it's ok to fix it. I never had heart burn or acid reflux, but when I got out of surgery he said he had to repair a small one. No way of me really knowing about it cuz i was sleep. LOL! from what i can tell from the boards it's not that uncommon.

Well i got banded yesterday!!!!!! i will post my full story in the surgery story thread. Doing well right now. No appetite, but I have been sipping on water, crystal light, jello and popsicles. Anyone have any suggestions about how to get in/out of bed without havingSOOOOO much pain at the port sight. That is the one thing that I am having the most diffculty with.

hey little tea pot. i also have liquid pain meds which i didnt want to take, but i have in fear of having pain. congrats on getting banded. most of my pain is at the port sight. my understanding that the gas pain usually only goes away with you moving and walking. hope you are able to do that and call your doctor just to be safe. best wishes to all of us!

OK i know some of you are waiting to see how I'm doing. The surgery was yesterday and I was a little nervous, but i prayed a lot and that helped calm my nerves. I'm gonna write my full story in the surgery day stories so I wont write it twice. I've gotten a lot of support from my friends and absoltuly none from my sister. I was in tears cuz she has not once called to check on my or shown any interest in if i'm alive or dead! I asked my mom why she's treating me like this and the only thing we can come up with is jealousy! Anyhow. I'm in some discomfort more than pain. I have 3 incisions, one so small i thought it was a scratch till i touched it and felt the dermabond. Getting out of bed and back in is the worse!!!!!Can anyone offer any suggestions that will make it easier. I've been sleeping on/off since I got home. Still taking pain meds, just cuz i'm afraid if i stop i'll be in a lot of pain. I'm so glad I did it. I gainded 4 pounds back after the surgery! Did this happen to anyone else? I'm guessing it's the gas. All in all I would do this again and I'm so excited to start my new life. My friend who took me to the surgery gave me a visa gift card to buy my first "skinny" shirt and I cant wait to so that!!!! Does anyone know if we can video blog on here? I started that yesteday before I went to the surgery, not sure what i'm gonna do with it though. Hope all is well with everyone. Feel free to PM me if you have further questions. Well the day is FINALLY here!!!!! I cant believe this day is finally here. I'm not nervous at this point, not sure how i'll feel once i get there. So in the 11 days I've been on the pre-op liquid diet and lost 13 pounds!!! I cant believe that I made it the whole time and didnt cheat. I pray everyone has a successful surgery today. I'll try to check in later to let you guys know how it went! Thank you guys for allllll your love and support during this time, it has helped me sooooo much! love you guys like my family!!! MUAH!

i'm so happy things are working out for you! i say do a pre-op diet as well especially since you know you have a fatty liver. ask your surgeon though! best wishes hun!!

i get banded today. .wow in a few hours actually! my pre op diet was liquids only and i was on it for 11 days and i lost 13 pounds. was hoping for 15, but i'm grateful for the 13! best wishes

congrats on your NSV's. girl i feel you on the scrub tops! i cant wait for mine to start falling off, although my pants are already getting baggy. LOL! but i refuse to buy another stitch of clothing unless its the next size down! LOL! Well i get banded today. i lost 13 pounds on the 11 days i was on my pre-op liquid diet. congrats on your success thus far!!

Hey my chicago bandsters thanks for checking in! Well today is the day!!! not nervous yet, just wishing it was already over!

Ok I know i posted this yesterday, not sure what happened to it, but hear goes again. I've been checking my cell phone like crazy waiting for my company to call me and tell me if I have a job in 2 weeks since my current contract ends in two weeks. I see that I have missed a call from the surgery center. I check the VM and they said they have to reschedule my surgery from Fri(20th) til Monday(23rd)! WTH!!!!OMG!! I went into my supervisor's office and balled my eyes out. Couldnt do that to long as my patient was waiting on me. I went and found a friend of mine and she said a quick prayer for me. Well minutes later I went back to my desk only to find another VM from the surgery center! MY SURGERY IS BACK ON FOR FRIDAY!!!! THANK YOU JESUS! God answers prayers and I needed this one answered quickly. Secondly, I still hadnt heard from my company, finally they call and tell me the hospital has extended my contract till June 24th and possibly longer than that! THANK YOU JESUS!! Now I can go into my surgery with no worries about if i'll be employed in a week. Plus my supervisor know about my surgery and has agreed to manuever my patint caseload to accomodate my 10 pound weight lifiting restriction!!!!! I thank God for his favor, cuz technically she could say you cant do your job and we're ending you contract! I'm still doin well on the pre-op diet! no cheats! but also no gym ...Tonight is my last night band free!!!! I will find out today the exact time of my proceudure today! Hope all is well with everyone!!! MUAH!!!

Thanks all for your well wishes! Had another glitch today with the financing piece, but all is well now!!!! surgery time 1pm tomorrow!!!! gotta check in at 11:30am!! i will check in with you guys before i leave! thanks again for all your support!
