Single Incision Lap Band Procedure
newlady1 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Has anyone had the single insicion lapband procedure? I'm scheduled to get my surgery date in a couple of days and I'm wondering if this procedure would eliminate alot of the gas problems, and so forth. If anyone's had this procedure, please share. -
Gas Pain In Right Side After Lap Band Surgery
newlady1 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have what I think is a gas pocket/pain on my right side. It's been there for a couple of weeks. Has anyone experienced that? It's not a sharp pain, but an annoying pain. And anytime I eat, I get really gassy. I have a doctors appointment tomorrow to get my 3rd fill. I will consult him too. I was just wondering if there is anyone that might have some advice. -
Is This Normal? Stuck After 5 Months With Lap Band
newlady1 replied to jennypenny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow thanks for sharing. It's been 5 months for me too on Nov. 22nd and I had a second fill on Oct. 18th but didn't loose anything in the 6 weeks. I've been discouraged but I keep pushing and plugging along. I go for my 3rd fill tomorrow. I don't know what my happy medium is but I know I want to keep loosing weight and hope my body will respond. But I'm so glad you shared your story because I don't feel alone in this. Thank you -
Anyone Else Get Sick On Thanksgiving?
newlady1 replied to helen098's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow I thought I was the only one that got sick Thanksgiving. I was doubled over the day after. Pain out of this world. And the only thing I can think of is that I ate some greens and they did not agree with me. But it was not a pleasant experience. I was going to tell my doctor about it when I go see him tomorrow. -
I received my second fill on Oct. 18 everything went fine. I got 2cc and now at 5cc. Every since my fill I'm so gassy. my stomach is constantly bubbling. I did tne liquid diet one day and mushy food one day. But I'm still so gassy. Is this normal?

I was banded on June 22, 2011 and haven't had any problems until this month. This month I've had 2 major episodes of convulsions and all the symptoms of throwing up. The weird thing is that nothing came up. I wished it had I would have been relieved. I go on Tuesday for my second fill and I'm concerned that it will get worse with more restriction. Has anyone else experience this?
-
YES YES that's exactly what i mean. I didn't know how to describe it. Yes I'm seeing my doctor tomorrow and have a call into to him today. thanks.
-
Yes I have an appointment on Tuesday and I will let everyone know what he says.
-
Maybe convulsions is too strong a word. But what I meant is that i have all the symtoms of throwing up, my body is going through all the motions but nothing is coming up. My ribs are still sore today from it. But I have an appt. with my doctor on Tuesday, I will let him know what is going on with me and hopefully he will address the issue.
-
Well you know how your body reacts when you have to throw up? thats what I mean except there is nothing coming up, but yet my body is going through the motions. It's painful, my ribs are still sore today. But I'm going to my doctor on Tuesday and I'm hoping he can give me some insight.
-
Sharon, I go to the doctor on Tuesday. I'll let you know what he says. I'm suppose to get my second fill and i'm wondering if he's going to do it with the symtoms i'm having. But I'll keep you posted.

Yes I'm calling my doctor tomorrow and plus I have an appt. on Tuesday. I don't have these systems often, but they've occurred at least 3 times this month. I was thinking it was something I ate.

First Fill and Feeling Nothing
newlady1 replied to newlady1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you Dave, I appreciate your response and thanks for the website/article it was very helpful. -
Yesterday I had my first fill. I was a little apprehensive but excited at the same time. It's been 8 weeks since my surgery and at that time no solution was added to my band. my doctor had planned to give me 4cc but as he was putting in the solution, while drinking the water I started belching but I didn't fill full. At that point he withdrew some solution and said I'm only going to put in 3 cc, I don't want you to get sick. He said if I dont see any weight loss after 3 weeks to contact him and he will put another cc in. I drank 2 6oz cups of water and was fine. I'm thinking that I would be filling extremely full after drinking the water but I was hungry. Then the nurse hands me a sheet that says I need to be on a liquid diet for 2 days. I'm like for real. I don't feel any different from when I went in. Is that normal? Does it take a couple of days to feel anything? I'm confused, what should I be expecting after a fill? NEED SOME ADVICE.

I was wondering has anyone experience a tingling sensation when they wake up from sleeping. Whenever I go to sleep and wake up it's like everything in my system is waking up. I start tingling all over. It only last maybe 1 minute or so. Once i'm up and moving around, it goes away. This has only started happening since I've been banded and I find this very strange and wondered if anyone else has experienced this.
-
Ok thanks for that info . My doctor told me that he did not put any solution in my band at all. Although I cannot eat as much as I used to, I do not feel any restriction. Just that feeling that causes me to burb which lets me know I've had enough.
-
CONGRATULATIONS!!! I was curious, have you had your first fill yet? I was banded on June 22nd and have lost 21lbs but I feel stuck and was wondering if I won't see any more decrease in weight until I get my first fill.

ANY HOPE OF RESTRICTION AFTER FIRST Lap Band FILL????
newlady1 replied to Allison0927's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm glad you posted this I too am concerned about my first fill. I like responses you got and now I'm hopeful. I keep reading about tne "sweet spot" and wondered what that was. Now I know from reading the responses. quote name='Allison0927' timestamp='1312418070' post='1648144'] My first fill is this Tuesday Aug. 9. That will be exactly 5 weeks post-op. Like many before me, I'm on 800 calories per day (per the surgeon) since going to solids and, of course, with a healed stomach i've been really, really hungry - but struggling through it. From many posts i've read - people do not hit a nice restriction level until 2-5 fills or more. My question is has anyone gotten relief/restriction off of the first fill (I know the amount of the first fill varies by surgeon but still...). I guess I'm just looking for hope - as I have been so, so hungry the last few weeks. -

OH OH I haven't had my first fill yet but you're right the bread will eventually disolve and push through. If you can continue to drink warm or hot liquids without getting sick, I think you will find relief soon.

Need a swift kick in the arsssss
newlady1 replied to slm2007's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for your comments. I too have been frustrated because it's exciting to see the weight come off in the beginning but when it stops you question yourself, did i do the right thing? what am i doing wrong? where do I go from here? Although I've only been banded a little over a month, I expected to loose the weight on a consistant basis. Whether it be 1lb or 5lbs, just something. I've lost 20lbs since my surgery. I've been exercising on a regular for 2 weeks since my doctor released me to do so. I don't know, it is frustrating and I'm glad this sight is up because it really helps me when I get down on myself. Thank you all for being so honest and sharing your true GUT wrenching feelings. -
How do you know if there is slippage? Is it painful?
-
Are there side effects if you mess up on the eating stages? I was banded on June 22nd and have done pretty well with following the diet plan. Right now i'm on full liquids which includes creamy soups. I forgot mine at home today, so i went downstairs to the little store and bought a cup of noodle soup. Although couldn't eat it all, right now i fell like something needs to go through my system but feels stuck. Is that normal? I haven't had a fill yet so my band is empty.

5 days Postop and STARVING
newlady1 replied to ashleighnc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear you. I was banded on Wednesday too and today I broke down and had 2-4 ounces of cottage cheese because of the Protein and sustance. This liquid diet has been so hard. I'm suppose to be on "FULL" liquids for two weeks, until July 8th. My post-op visit to see my doctor is July 5th and I plan to ask him about it. I thought I wasn't suppose to be hungry. I'm dring my Water, Isopure drinks and crystal light, but I still crave more substance. PK -
