    Muscle Milk light

I love the muscle mik light boxed drinks ! I tried the other powders you can purchase at Costo in vanilla and chocolate flavors that you mix with ice, water, or diet sodas, got real tired of the flavors and after taste in my mouth! I dirnk two of the muscle milks a day in place of meals and am very satisfied !
  2. I was banded at the end of March 2011 at the end of June I will be having my 3rd fill. All seems to be working well, just don't have a real good restriction yet. Losing pounds slowly, not hungry from at least 4 hours between protein drink and or meal. Just not real comfortable with the lack of restriction I have. No problem eating meals, no issues of stuck or feeling food pass. My doctor just does small fills.
  3. I'm six weeks post surgery, I have had red wine on occasion, and more recently found 100 calorie margaritas ( Cuervo and Margaritaville) There is definately a trade off because of calories, and do watch the quantity that you drink. Your body has changed or in the process of changing, you are eating much less so you will (you will) be effected by the alcohol ! I learned by experience... really ice down your drink or pour a half glass of wine instead of a full one.
  4. Seven weeks post-op averaging since surgery 2 pounds a week, and inches ! To me that is not as fast as I want, considering I lost 26 pounds in the months of January to March .
  5. I buy the Vitafusion Brand Gummy Vitamins for adults at Costo ! 200 per bottle at a pretty good deal. They appear to have all the essentials as the other name brands.
  6. Good Morning all ! I had my lapband on March 29th, my second fill was May 3rd and this past weekend, I got sick ! I think I hit the overload button, First thing in the morning I got up had a little water, then proceeded to have my morning protein drink "Muscle Milk" premade chocolate drink. Within minutes I was semi-puking, at least at first, then after several minutes it was full blown! Please forgive the description but no chunks, nothing other than fluids and choc drink, of course this being my first experience at being sick to my stomach since surgery, I didn't know any better (didn't think) and had some water, wrong thing to do, sick again..... Spend the rest of the day recouping, with just very little water sips as necessary, later in the evening I was able to have some warm tea. Next day I was much better, just didn't want to take any chances, so I had a little oatmeal in the morning and just a protein drink later, then a little and I mean little dinner later. Today is the first day since Saturday that I can hear and feel my stomach grumble for food ! What an experience, I think I have some slight restriction finally, just have to be careful from here on out for a while until I get used to the results of the latest fill. It didn't kick in for two weeks, so be careful to the rest of you going through this !

    6th Week

I think I really did overdo, had a little bit of rich food the night before, like small meatballs and cheese. Didn't feel stuck in the evening and didn't feel sick until the morning after Water and Protein drink. Today is a real good day, normal stuff, able to drink most of protein drink and will have lunch in a few minutes. I didn't feel like I had a bug type of thing, because it was only until I got rid of what was in my stomach that I was better. "You will heave and saliva will come out, but when the other stuff need to come out it will, really different than before banding" It was scary but got through it and not looking forward to it ever happening again. Just saying be careful you never know when your fill will kick in !! ( I think )
  8. My surgery was on March 29th, first .5 cc fill on April 12th, no big deal, told the doctor what I had planned for the next couple of weeks and he said fine, just watch what I did and be careful .Went RVing for 4 days, watched what I ate basically soft foods, then took off for another trip with a group of friends for wine tasting in Paso Robles, tasted a few different wines, had some regular food at meal time, ( one cup, took my measuring bowl) and was very careful with the chewing, examples: meat sauce without the Pasta, cheeses, soft part of the enchiladas one evening with a small amount of Beans, very small med rare burger in a lettuce wrap instead of bun. Scrambled eggs for bkfst and of course plenty of Water and Protein drinks when hungry! I haven't gained any weight, have most definately lost inches (clothing becoming baggy !) Go tomorrow for my first real fill, time to start the cycle again...proteins and soft foods. I'm really excited, people have already noticed a big difference in my weight and inches lost. Bought a couple of new tops to get me through the next month or so ! I am hoping the good times keep coming !! I do have times of mood swings but it is a life changing process
  9. Hello All ! I was banded on March 29th, had my first post-op visit today and was very happy with the outcome ! I started subsituting protein for one meal since January and I had one week of strictly protein shakes prior to surgery. I have been on protein shakes and crystal light drinks, popsicles and water since surgery. Since January 1st I have lost a total of 33 lbs and of those 33 lbs 16 were from pre-op prep until today 2 weeks after banding ! Dr. says he is very pleased with overall health and mental status. I also had my first fill today, started very small because we are going out of town for a few weeks ! I am so happy everything is going so well ... ( I have had a couple of moody days, but they passed !) Dr. said could go on to normal food, after two more days of liquid because of he fill, but after that be very careful of what I eat. The nurses recommended because we are going to be away to have more mushies that regular food, until we get back. I think I am going to follow their advice just to be safe. A few more weeks can't hurt and why mess up the progress ??? Good luck to everyone else !! Next visit is at the end of the month !!
  10. Hello everyone! Today is my one week mark since surgery, feel quite good actually! Been out all day running errands the past two days, a little extra tired at the end of the day, but all helps with a good night's sleep . My incision spots except for one have healed really well and the one is still a little swollen. So far I am really happy that I took the step to have LB surgery. At this point in time I am so tired of protein shakes only !!! I started to prepare for my surgery in my head and physically back in January, meaning I started with one or two meal replacements with the protein shake. I was strictly on the shakes, crystal lite, and water the week prior to surgery and will be on the same until April 12th. Hopefully, Dr. will say I can progress on to something else, planning on a vacation trip with several people in the very near future (3 weeks away!). Thanks to reading the posts I have come to know that a nice cup of hot tea really helps in the morning to help me get started with the shakes for the day. I've been doubling up on the protein per shake because I can just barely get down 2 full 8 oz. shakes in a day plus all the liquids ! Walking does help and look forward to that everyday. I do have a couple of questions for anyone out there that will answer...how soon did anyone have a glass of wine ??? and do you think I can every eat sushi again ?? or at least some type of roll?
  11. I was banded on the 29th of March. Only supposed to have protein drinks until I see Dr. Owens in a couple of weeks. Very difficult to drink the full shake much less drink three of them a day. Plenty of fluids, like water and crystal light are just fine. I just fill up drinking the protein shakes. I don't know if my doctor puts in any fluid at surgery time, but definately can't drink as much as before the band. So many doctors use so many types of after surgery diets ! I was surprised that I couldn't have anythink other than protein shakes and other fluids !

    New

Hi,just had my lap band done on Tuesday! Feeling pretty good for day two. Like you I am anxious to get this journey rolling ! Today I am still having a hard time getting down my protein shakes, supposed to have three a day, water and juices are going down okay, just getting real full feeling after about two thirds of a glass of shake. FIrst post op visit is on April 12th. We shall see that the Dr. says !
  13. This is all new to me! Did alot of research before decision to lap band. Tuesday surgery was done in late morning, went home in afternoon and went to bed ! Spend yesterday in and out of bed walking around the house trying to drink protein drinks and resting. Feeling much better today! still sore but very manageable. Found out that I will be on protein drinks until my three week follow up appointment ! So far so good, just feeling a little bloated.
