Still the fat one at the table-really?
brenda62 replied to NJGirl32's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Not anymore. I look around to try and gauge who I look like size wise! I fit into 12's this week and six months ago I was a 26 so I have a hard time (even looking in a mirror ) judging my size. -
I go through it every month! You just get used to it and it is a good warning you are about to start!

Great Job! I also look at the food I am going to eat and ask myself if it will taste as good as losing weight feels and it makes me think twice! I also like seeing the middle number change. Now that I am getting closer to goal the scale moves slower so I set mini goals of changing the middle number!

Lap Band Friendly Restaurants/Meals
brenda62 replied to megananne7's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I went out for Mexican last week on order of the side menu. My chicken enchilada came with no beans or rice and was perfect for me. And did I mention only 3.99! -
Given the amount of weight you have to loose it will come off fast at first. I would just keep pushing as much protein as you can. I started out at 304 and had surgery 4/4/11 and I am down 113 pounds in six months with only 31 left till goal. It did come off fast at first, but has slowed down to about 10 a month now. You will feel a lot better when you start eating, believe it or not you would have more energy if you got out and walked often it does make a difference. (a least with me it did)

HOW LONG SHOULD I WAIT BEFORE-BACK TO WORK?
brenda62 replied to banded_princess's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a grocery checker in a busy store, I went back to work on day 4. I did fine, I was just very tired and slept well when I got hom. -
just walk a little more each day or week. As your body gets stronger you will be able to go further. Walk to the mail box when that gets good walk down the street a few houses. It works, I started with 1/2 a mile and am up to 5 a day now. You can do it!

1. Look at how much weight you have lost and how good it feels .2. When you go to eat that wrong thing, stop and ask yourself is it really worth it, do I want to eat this more then loosing weight? 3. Go for a walk instead of eating 4. up your protein and water intake 5. go see your Dr. 6. go back to basic 7. remember why you got the lap band and the work you had to do to get it.

Sweets such a bad habit...
brenda62 replied to LookatmeNow34's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I allow myself one sweet a day and it seems to work for me. 100 cal nabisco cookies, laughing cow ice cream, fiber one brownie to name a few. I just leave room in my cals for the day. It keeps me on track and then I am not craving. I do eat a lot of protein and drinks lots of water a day also so it is a win win for me. Good luck -
Protion Problems
brenda62 replied to KristyHernandez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat up to a cup of food at a time and am losing well, you just have to find what works for you. -
I eat 5 to 6 times a day and eat between 800-1000 cals a day. I also go to curves 5xs a week and have also increased my walking from 2 miles to 5 6 days a week.
-
I would pick a different protein drink for starts. Slim fast does not have a lot of protein and that is what you want to keep the hunger away. I eat 6 times a day and it keeps my body happy and also keeps me from making bad food choices. You need to start looking at what you are eating and ask yourself if that bad choice is really worth it. Sometimes I pick something up think about if I really want to give up that many cals and end up making another choice. Good luck, you have the tool, you can do it!

Good post! I work with the public and they are always asking how I am losing weight and I tell them, I go to the gym 5x week, walk 3-5 miles a day, eat healthy and yes it is hard and a lot of work. So you are on the right track with that. Good luck

I eat 5 to 6 times a day, but that is what works for my body. It keeps my energy level up and I do not get the out of control hunger.
-
I would not lower your cals, what about water and exercise! Also how much protein are you getting in?

One of the last accepted forms of prejudice

The one good thing about us is we know how it feels to be on both sides. I had a man go through my line at work a few weeks ago. We got to talking about good shoes and he told me his sister worked at a place in town that I buy mine at. He said you would not believe the fat people that go in there looking for comfortable shoes and his sister always wants to tell them to lose weight and the shoes would be comfortable. I looked at him and said "Sir I am one of those fat people, I have lost over 100 pounds and we all deserve comfortable shoes" oh and have a good day! He did shut up rater quickly. The next day I went down to the store and talked to the manager, made me feel better. -
don't beat yourself up over it, get back on the wagon and get going again. One thing about the lap band is it is a tool and it takes a lot of work. Self control is a big part of weight loss, but it is ok once and a while to treat yourself just be careful.

I am 6 mths out on 10/04 and have lost 111 with 30 to go. I also have followed my Dr rules. I do eat 6 small meals a day and it works for me. I also do not drink protein shakes because I was told they were like slider foods and I would rather eat something anyway. I go to curves 5 days a week and walk 6 to 7 times a week. I think I am going to have to go to a regular gym before long, I feel like this last 30 pounds is going to take even harder work! As for what I eat let's start with what I do not eat. Rice, pasta, bread, soda and sugary deserts. I love yogurt mixed with fruit and kashi in the morning.( I do also drink a home made latte when I first get up) during the day I eat chili (homemade low cal) salad with meat and eggs and veggie, whatever meat I cook for dinner and veggies, snacks are laughing cow cheese on a wasu cracker, 100 cal snack, fruit, protein bar (I only eat half) I do watch my protein and drink lots of water. -
Do you find it hard to give up Carbs?
brenda62 replied to Sharon1222's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do not eat bread, rice, or pasta since I got banded in April and have gotten to the point where I do not miss them. -
Down 50 Pounds - 3 1/2 Months Out Of Lap Band Surgery!!!!
brenda62 replied to Allison0927's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Good job, be proud of yourself. I am down 111 since April and can see the end in sight! It feels so good! -
I agree with the last post. I used EAS low carb control. More protein, less sugar much better for you. Slim fast and carnation are not that good. There are a lot of better ones out there. Good luck
-
Hot drinks help to loosen the band in the morning if it is feeling tight. Good excuse to have coffee! I don't really need and excuse, but I do enjoy my coffee everyday at least once and it has not slowed down my wight loose. Good luck

I went from 8cc to 9cc in my 14cc band a month ago and have gotten stuck a lot and pb, slimed, and everything else since then. I went and had 1/2 a cc out two days ago and am now doing great. I think it just depends on the person and the Dr to how much they take out.
