UPDATED I need to complain to people who will understand
brenda62 replied to Rachel412's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Rachel, You need to find what works best for you and stick with it. People and nutritionist will all offer us their option of what we should be eating. I think as long as you are eating healthy and feel good you are doing what is right for your body. We all loose at different rates and our bodies require different amounts of food. Don't stress over it to much that will slow you down. You know you can do it and so do we! -

When does weight loss pick up again?
brenda62 replied to cbreeden28's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are a lot of factors here, like how much water you are drinking and how much exercise you are getting. It all adds up. I lost from day one, but I followed the rules and have done everything I have been told. -
My doctor had me do 1 week clear liquids, 1 week soft food and by the 3rd week a regular diet. I moved slowly to the regular diet and stuck to soft foods till I felt comfortable moving on. Soda is a big no no, I would stay away from it. As for walking, put on your shoes and go out and walk your block, any distance will do. You will feel better and the fresh air makes you feel great and you get out of the house. It also helps with the gas pain. You can do this, you have made it this far so let the fun begin!

Up one pound today and about to give up.
brenda62 commented on Texasbandit's blog entry in Texasbandit's Blog
You need to give it time. As long as you are following the rules, it will happen. Drink lots of water, exercise, and make healthy protein choices along with staying away from bread, pasta, rice and sweets. -

Was the Lap Band Your First Choice?
brenda62 replied to GoBanana's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1st and only choice for me. I did not want something like gastric which is not reversible. I am very happy with my lap band and as for losing slow, not me I am doing great, -
You have a tool, and that is all it is. You do have to work with it and have a lot of self-control. I can eat all kinds of bad things if I want to and not use my tool. I do eat 6 times a day and keep my cals between 800-1000. Push the protein and start walking and you will feel better and stay full longer. When you get the hunger pains try a big glass of water first and if they still keep coming eat a healthy protein meal.

Just thought I would let you know I also started at 304 and in 6mths I am down 114. Just do what your dr tells you.

100 % happy, you bet! I would not have gotten this far without it. I am down 114 pounds in 6 months with 30 left to goal. It has slowed down, but as long as I use my tool right it will come off. good luck with whatever you do. -
Too Many Frustrated Lapbanders!
brenda62 replied to SkinnyMiniMe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I believe if you are honest with yourself and wiling to work hard at it the lap band is a great tool. I have lost a lot, but I have been working at it since day 1. I started walking at 1 week and have not stopped since. I go to curves 5 days a week and now walk their and back. (two miles) Some days I add an extra 3 miles to it. I stay active and this summer rode my bike on our loop trail also. I keep my cals between 800-1000, some days I slip a little higher but not normally. I also drink about 100 ounces of water a day and find my body craving it! (this coming from someone who never would drink plain water) I have also found I do better eating 5 to six times a day, my body likes it and I feel better getting protein in more often. I also stay away from protein shakes because they are a slider food. I do get regular fills and am at a good point with mine right now. The weight loss has slowed down now that I am 30 from goal, but I know if I keep plugging along I should be there before my one year mark. You can do this, have faith in yourself and work the program. -

Day 3: teetered but trying not to beat myself up!!!
brenda62 commented on JessIsTiredOfBeingFat's blog entry in JessIsTiredOfBeingFat's Blog
sounds like you need to get more healthy snack in the house. There are all kinds of ways to fill the cravings. Nabiso has the 100 cal snack pack, skinny cow has 100 cal ice cream bars, special k has cracker/chips that are low cal and then there are a lot of low cal bars. I have a recipe for a low cal chicken chill I keep made up and in serving size portions in the fridge. Also laughing cow cheese or cheese sticks, the list can go on and on. -
I was told to get the sports bra a size smaller than you wear. I wear a 40 DD and my sports bra's are 38 DD. It is hard to find good sportive ones when you are large chested
-
I go to curves, it is a half hour cur cit and gets me done quicker! That is why I went in the beginning, now I walk there and add extra walking time in if I do not work till later in the day. It has become a habit and I enjoy it now.

NEED HELP, ADVICE!! PLEASE! Feeling like Im failing
brenda62 replied to KimJ384's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is not always true about keeping the weight off. Our bodies are all different and we lose a different rates. It also depends on how you work your band, how your food choices are, how much Water you drink, how much you exercise, how much you have to lose, and so much more. Just because I lost fast a first does not mean I am going to gain it back. -
When did you start seeing steady weightloss?
brenda62 replied to Meerkat135's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I did from the beginning, but I do work at it most the time. The last month and a half it has finally slowed down to about 10 pounds a month which is where it should be. It also depends on how much you have to lose and how you work with your band. -
The time will pass quickly till you get your band. Then it really speeds by as you lose weight. I just hit six months and can't believe how fast it has gone by or the changes in me.

You do need to try and eat more, this cannot be good for you. I remember when I first started out having to eat more because I had not had enough cals for the day. It was strange because it is the opposite of what we have always been told. Now I eat 5 to 6 times a day and my body stays energized and I feel great. Good luck
