Unrealistic Weight Goal ??
brenda62 replied to pink dahlia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nut told me to make 180 my goal ( I started at 304) but I set my goal at 160. I am now 169 and am starting to think I may go to 150. A normal BMI for me would be 154. So do what you want and let your body tell you where it wants to be. Know-one knows you better than yourself -
found it on amazon

You could still be swollen from Wednesdays episode. Also Eggs can be a problem for some bansters. I can eat eggs some days and others forget it. Try to eat soft foods for a day and you will feel a lot better. Keep up the wonderful work!

congrats, you are almost there! Keep up the wonderful work it is sooooooooooooooooo worth it.

I was banded with a bmi of 51. Nothing was ever said about my bmi being to high. My 10 pre-op diet was 3 to 4 protein shakes (EAS low carb) and 1 lean cuisine (300 cals and under) a day. I also drank lots of water

OK here is the deal, you will get out of the lap band what you put into it. It is a tool and you have to remember to use it as instructed. I lost 100 pounds by six months and have now have lost 135 at ten months. I am 9 pounds from goal and know I will reach it before my 1 year. I have worked hard to get here, sticking to the program and exercising. I am not perfect (don't tell my dh I said that!) but I do work hard at it. I wish you luck and remember you are great and you can do this

I love coming to this site and having my feelings on a lot of issues like this one reinforced by all of you. I LOVE MY BAND and I work hard to keep it working for me. Lets all keep up our positive attitudes and over whelm the negative nellies out there!

I am a grocery checker at a large store. Yesterday I had a plump women come through my line with a lot of lean cuisine meals. I told her that I loved them and used them as my lunch on work days.(I only can eat half of it!) She gave me a look while sizing me up and said "Why? You don't look like you need to lose any weight!" Me not needing to lose weight I love it! Here she thought she was being nasty to me and she actually made my day!! I still have 12 pounds left to go, but boy do I feel good now, I could not stop smiling the rest of the day!

Pre-surgery, Fighting Depression And Gambling Addiction
brenda62 replied to kkmcgriff's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am on medication for depression and anxiety and have had no problems with it since getting banded. I think exercising and making myself get out there has kept me from having trouble. I also know that as the pounds go down I get happier! I do admit it is a little harder at the moment with the gloomy weather but if I get out and take a walk it helps. -
Some I do and others you know you just do not go there. I told one lady the other day and she was so excited she is getting a lap band in March! I told her any questions or concerns she knows where to find me.

One thing that does bother me though is that my larger regular customer don't come to me anymore. I guess they related to me better when I weighed another 130 pounds. Makes me sad because I am the same person on the inside.

Have I Plateaued Already?
brenda62 replied to Lilygirl40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are a lot of things at play, are you getting enough calories in? to may calories? enough water? exercising (at least walking)? enough protein? staying away from the bread, rice, and pasta? Talk with your Dr, but you are doing well 18 in four weeks is 4.5 pounds a week and that is above average. (average is 2 pounds a week) Keep up the good work and don't get down on yourself -
and to add to your first answer 10 pounds is wonderful!

Feeling Frustrated And Sad, Need Some Advice!
brenda62 replied to mamastwo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I to think exercise is the key. I gained three pounds over Christmas and new years because I ate whatever I wanted and enjoyed it. I left curves last week because I was not getting enough out of it and joined another gym that challenges me. Three pounds gone this week and am excited to get that last 12 pounds off! Just get moving and it will all fall into place. -
Good luck, I hope all goes well

Love your 2 cents!

Thanks for starting the topic, I am one that got a negative response from this person and I don't know if I should feel sorry for the person or not. They cannot be very happy. So lets stay positive and keep working with our tool!

First Timer Here! 3 Weeks Since Surgery...
brenda62 commented on caligalles's blog entry in Caligalles' Blog
It might help to increase your calories. I ate 800 to 1000 my first 6 months and lost 100 pounds! Since then I have increased to 1200 and have lost another 30 pounds with 12 left till goal. Sometimes not eating enough will stall your weightloss. Remember though you are in the healing stage and don't worry to much about it. -
I eat about a cup at a time. I also eat six times a day, a couple of those it is less than a cup. My body likes it and it has worked well for me.

New To Forum....1 Yr Band Anniv
brenda62 replied to Mpurnell617's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sounds like you are to tight and also need to get a lot more protein in. Do you count your protein grams and are you getting enough water? If I don't get enough of either I feel the same way. -
Thank you Jean for clearing things up for us. Smiles.....

Thank you Elcee for posting what needed to be said. Fluffy needs to know that she comes across very judgmental. I am sorry Fluffy that you have not been successful with the band and wish you luck with what ever you chose to do next, but with your mind set will it be any better?
