Still on my way, but loving life more than I could ever have imagined!
  12. Even with the band there is a lot of self-control and self-discipline needed. You got the band for a reason so the time has come to start acting like you have one. Sorry if I sound harsh, I do not mean to be I am just one of those to the point people. When I was at the beginning of my journey I counted calories and from the beginning I lost weight from the start. Right now I need a fill and am eating more, so I exercise more. ( We have been getting a lot of snow so a trip over the mountains for my fill has to wait). This is not an easy road to follow, but if you really want it you can make it happen!
  13. I read one of your other post that said you do a protein drink for breakfast and lunch. You might fell some restriction in the am if you try food, normally the band is tighter in the am. Just a thought. smiles
  14. It comes down to you and how bad you want this. Getting the lap-band and losing weight with it takes self control and a lot of work, are you ready for that? Good luck

    Bending And The Band...

I was never told any of that! I went back to work on day four and did not limit my movement. Now that I have switched gyms though I wonder if any of the weight machines I use could harm my band. I need to call my Dr and find out!

    How Much Protein?

I get all my protein from food, I only used protein shakes for pre-op and the first week after surgery. I like the crunch of food and was told the same thing by my surgeon about drinking my calories.

    Those Who Have Lost 100+

I lost 100 pounds in six months. I started at 304 and am now 169 at 10 months. I just followed the rules but I do eat 6 times a day. My body likes it and it keeps me going. I feel it when my protein level is down and I need to eat. I work out 5 times a week for an hour and drink lots of water.

40 Pounds Gone In 2 Months!!

Chicken can be the problem, make sure it is moist and I cut mine up and then chew very well. I was told also to eat dark meat chicken since it is also moister than white. Great job on the weight loss you are doing great

    1/17/12 Food Addiction

I am not a quitter either! On the serious side this is all quite interesting and until they have been in our shoes there perspective will never be quite right.

  21. I get that way right before my TOM. Mine only lasts about four days and then I am back to normal. Also sometimes stress can cause it.

    New Here .. Hello All

Welcome Lisa Marie you have come to a wonderful place! There is a lot of information and support on this site. It has really helped me with different things I have gone through to have people in the same place as me or ones that have gone through it and can offer their support.
  23. I stayed away from alcohol for 9 months, put now enjoy a glass of wine now and then. As for soda, yes it is a big no no. Once you get used to not drinking when you eat, it is no big deal. You will not be a different person at social events, you will be you. The lap band has made changes in my life, but good ones. I am healthy and still enjoy doing the things I did before and eating the things I did before just in a lot smaller amount. It is ok to be scared, we all were in the same boat when we started our journeys and look at how we all have succeeded. Good luck
