I got my first fill today. Was not so bad they had me lay down and lift my feet and legs.( This makes it easier to get the port) she then pulled out the fuild in my band to measure how much was in it and they put it back in with an extra 1cc. I have a total of 5 cc in my band. She said if I countinue to get hungrey before 4 hours I can come back as soon as I want to have more put it. This would be ok if I lived close to the clinic, but I am a 3 hour and 50$ in gas away from them. I will see how it goes and if I need more I will go over again in a couple weeks. I am on liquids for 24 hours and then on soft for 24. My weight loss is good (36 pounds) and she said I was doing everything right so lets get this show on the road!! Good luck everyone with your fills, it is really nothing to worry about.

Glad to hear you are on your way!! My 1st goal is 50 pounds also, I am hoping to hit it my 6/1, I only have 14 left to go. I also have the 14cc band and am at 5 cc's. I feel restriction now, but only in the afternoon and evening. I am also finding out if I wait 45 minutes to drink after eating I stay full longer. Good luck and keep us posted.

Please Help me.....
brenda62 replied to shutterbug6's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It depends on what kind of person you are and how fast you bounce back. I drove myself 4 hours home on my third day and went back to work on the 4th day. I am one of those people that don't let things get me down so I was fine. I did stop every hour and walk around. (to help prevent those clots). If you have had any kind of surgary to compare this to, this is an easy one. I had 4 c-sections, galbladder and 3 cancer operations, so this one was very easy......good luck -

How are you feeling now spot?

I had that feeling also, but the day I got aproved I had had a tooth pulled and had to start my 10 day pre diet the next day! I think the quicker you start it the better. I got my band 4/4 and am getting ready for my first fill tomorrow. I do not feel like I am missing out on anything. Just be strong and start your journey...good luck

Don't put the treadmill of till your fill, walking is good for us. I go to the park and walk 2 1/2 miles a day. I joined curves today and will be going and doing the work out there with the walking. They know I am not quite a month out since the lap band was put in, so they will take a easy on me. You will feel a lot better if you just get moving. My fill is on the 4th, we will have to compare notes.

Great Idea! I am doing great. I am down 30 pounds (I only weigh on Mondays) and feeling good. Today is one of days off from work but with all the energy I have I keep trying to find more to do! Today I went for my walk at 6:30 am (3 miles) and came home ate scrambled eggs and some fresh berries. Now I am sipping on a tall skinny hazelnut latte (90 cal. and it gets in one of my dariys) My house is clean and I am thinking of going to get flowers for my planters today and cleaning out the kitchen cuboards! My house has never been cleaner! I think I am going to go my curves and check them out. I did curves years ago but not sure it you can join and not be stuck in a one year membership. I want to join golds at the end of the year. I know I did the right thing getting banded and people are strarting to notice my weight loss. I see it mostly in the face and the way my clothes fit. I have gone from a 26 down to a tight 22, my bras are getting to big, by rings are slipping off my fingers and did I mention my energy level!!! Hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to future as much as I am. Just think how we well all look at our 1 year mark, makes you smile doesn't it?! I go in for my first fill on the 3rd of May and will let everyone how that goes. smiles to all Brenda

Has anyone actually NOT cheated on 2 week pre-op diet?
brenda62 replied to MCCLB's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not cheat either...it's getting it into your head that you will not. Even three weeks after the band I have still not cheated, because all I would be cheating is my weight loss. ( No chocolate in over amonth I must be crazy!!!) Good luck -

brenda62 replied to Andytim08's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my daughter hide my scale! I have her bring it out Monday mornings and them take it back. I know when I lost weight on atkins I go rid of my scale and would swing by my docs office every two weeks and use theirs!! -

I have moved passed mushies and am eating more real food now. I can say it is hard though as I try new things and hope for the best...I have had nothing come up or any problems so far. Today I had a lap band friendly pancake, tuna salad, peaches and tonight chicken. I am three weeks out today and down 30, I go for my first fill 5/3, I do believe I need it and am kind of worried I will start having some of the problems others have had. I guess my journey just feels to easy so I have to worry about something!! I am glad things have gotten better for you.

Weight loss for April bandsters anyone?
brenda62 replied to Andytim08's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Since March 26th when I started my pre op and then banded on 4/4 I am done 30! I have been walking 2 miles a day then on my feet all day at work. Eating wise I am using a lot of lap band freindly reciepes. Here is one of my favorite breakfast ones. It keeps me full for at least 4 hours! "Love Your LAP-BAND®" Blueberry pancakes Recipe submitted by Tricia Morrison Rated: (5) Difficulty: Medium Prep Time: 10 min Cook Time: 15 min Good for: Breakfast, Solid, Low Fat, Vegetarian, Family Favorites Serving size: 2 pancakes Recipe makes: 5 Ingredients 2 eggs 1 cup low-fat cottage cheese 1/2 small ripe banana 2 Tablespoons Splenda 1 cup uncooked quick one-minute oats 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/2 cup blueberries frozen or fresh sugar-free Blackberry Maple Syrup (recipe can be found in LAP-BAND® recipes) Directions 1.) In a food processor or blender, add eggs and pulse to beat. (Unfortunately a hand-held mixer will NOT work! Only a food processor or blender will smooth down the batter into a pancake consistency). Next, add cottage cheese, banana, and Splenda, processing or blending until cottage cheese is smooth. Then, add the oats, baking powder, vanilla extract and cinnamon. Process until well-combined. Stir in blueberries. 2.) Heat a flat skillet or griddle over medium heat. Coat skillet with nonstick cooking spray. 3.) Using a large spoon, ladle, or cookie scoop, pour in about 1/4 cup of batter for one pancake. Cook each pancake about 3 minutes per side. Serve with Sugar-free Blackberry Maple Syrup, or your favorite sugar-free syrup. "Love Your LAP-BAND®" Blueberry Pancakes also taste great on their own! Serving Size 2 pancakes Recipe makes 5 servings Amount Per Serving Calories 150Calories from Fat 35Total Fat 3.5gSaturated Fat 1gTrans Fat 0gCholesterol 90gSodium 250gTotal Carbohydrate 21gDietary Fiber 3gSugars 6gProtein 10g Enjoy....my 17 and 12 year olds like this one too!! -
Surgery like C-Section?
brenda62 replied to lmwalt2413's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had for c-sections, and this was nothing like it. I was back to work on day four and now at 3 weeks I have know pain at all. The closest thing I can compare it to is my gallblader surgury. The more you move the better you will feel. Good luck -
Hi, I am in washington state also. Northwest weight loss center would be the ones to answer your questions. They are in everett. They took care of everything for me and told me what I needed to get and from whom. There # is 800-979-8986 it only took me three weeks from start to surgery. good luck+

Welcome Rachel, you came to right place. There is alway someone going through the same things you are on the site and it makes life so much easier. Hope everything is going well with your band.

Once the swelling goes down you may get hungry, I have. When it comes to eating soft food though my band does tell me when I am full and it happens quite quickly. But like you I returned to my normal self within a week. I have been walking two miles a day and working since day four. Never had any trouble and go in for my first fill on May 3rd. I am at 24 loss and hoping it keeps comming off. Glad you are doing well
-
I go for my fill on the 3rd so pretty close! Mushies are going well I bought a slap chop for chopping things up small and it seems to work. I had chicken tonight and had no problem. Doing a lot of eggs, yougert, appole sauce, tuna, oatmeal, even having a tall skinny hazelnut late from starbucks! (I need two dairies a day and that is one of them) hope all is well

Mine was 04/04/2011 and I am feeling great. I got to start soft food yesterday and it is wonderful. I went back to work on the 8th (busy cashier) and started walking 1 1/2 miles a day on the 10th. My energy level is way up and I am down 21 pounds since March 22nd. If you get up and make yourself move and get going you will feel better. I have been going to starbucks and getting a tall skinny late and it is not slowing down my weight lose. It is one of my dairy items for the day! when I get off work in the evening I also have a 40 cal fudgecycle mmmmmmmmm. kinda of keeps the cravings away. We are all going to have down days, but it is what we do about it that matters. Go visit a friend, go walk around the mall, or just get up and move!! Hope things get better, (I know they will) Brenda

you will, do not doubt yourself. We are all different and will take weight of at different paces. I have a lot of energy right now and only really rested for three days. I think going back to work and moving around as I am checking out customers all day makes a difference for me. I have been in bed by nine and up between 6 and 7 am, so I am getting a lot of sleep also. Do not give up, we are all in this together and you have taken the biggest step towards a slimmer you already.
