Great post! I hope it is well read, there are so many people out in the band world that this would help. This is the way the band has been for me also, you feel so much better when you eat right. Keep up the great work!

Had to lose weight before my surgeon could band me
brenda62 replied to cbreeden28's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As you go forward with lapband remember it is only a tool. You will see people tell you this all over this site, and believe me it is true. You have good weeks and bad weeks, some weeks you do not lose at all. It is hard work to lose weight anyway you do it, be prepared to work hard when you get your lapband. I am three months out and I go to curves 5 days a week, ride by bike 7 miles aday, six days a week and walk on my lunch hour at work. I have to plan out my meals ahead of time so I am always eating right. Be open to trying new recipes, I have found all kinds of good ones that my family even likes. The good things will come with weight loss. I am down from 6 meds to 2. I have gone from a size 26 to a18, I have more energy and feel so much better about myself. It is very much worth the struggle you are going through right now to get on with your new life. Good luck -
Lap band will not make you leave bad foods alone. It is only a tool to help you along the way. It still takes a lot of willpower and self-control, I read somewhere that 10% is the band and 90% is you. Good luck in whatever you choose

Corey from "Pawn Stars" got banded!
brenda62 replied to Rachel412's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
maybe this will make people look at lap band a little better, they can see how hard he is working at it and it is not a magic pill for weight loss. way to go corey! -
when that happens think of how good you are going to look and feel in a few months. I am 3 months out and down 71 pounds....you can do it!

went to old navy with my girls today and bought some things! Three months ago I was a tight 26 and a 3x or 4x. Now I am in size 18 and xl shirts. Get 75% off sale if anyone needs clothes!

wow this 3 months have gone by fast. Sometimes it does not seem real, I am down 71 pounds and am half way to goal. I have had no trouble with my band, no pbs and or sliming. So far the only thing about the band I do not like is how tight it gets during my tom and during changes in the weather. Otherwise it is great, and I feel wonderful most the time. I have never felt tired or out of energy and feel guilty when I do not exercise everyday! how life changes! Would love to hear how everyone else is doing at this point. Have a wonderful day Brenda

you can have steak, just chew it well and I eat shrimp (without breading) that I cook in a little olive oil and garlic. Just remember not to over eat!

I was banded April 4th and have gone from 304 to 234 in that three months. You do have to work hard at it. I go to curves five days a week, ride my bike 5 days a week and walk on the other two days! good luck

Had my third fill today. I now have 7 cc's in my 14 cc band. with the bigger band I was told it is normal to have between 7 and 8 cc's. Hopefully this is the fill that will do it for me. I still only go about 2 hours during the day between eating. I realy do not want to have hunger pains anymore. My weight loss is good at 54 pounds and I sett my goal at 10 pounds a month from now on.

I drink a black cup every morning with a truvia in it. Midmorning I make a sugarfree skinny hazelnut latte. When I am out I pick one up from starbucks! The skim milk in my latte is protein and has 80 cals for the cup I use. Starbuck is closer to 100. They do have a chart that you can ask for that lists the cals in all their drinks. ENJOY

Don't put of going to curves, once you get started it will become a habit. I go there 5 mornings a week and also bike ride after. I started out walking then added curves and now riding my bike! I will be 3 months out on the 4th and have dropped 67 pounds so I am half way to my goal. As for ice cream, I buy weight watchers and treat myself with one aday so I don't eat something bad! Good luck, you can do it.

How long did you take off from work after your surgery??
brenda62 replied to 3musketeers's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went back to work as a checker on day 4. I just did not do any heavy lifting, but everyone is different -
I have lost 63 and have gone from a 26 to a 20, I think now it will take a lot more to get into an 18 but I know I will. You need to get rid of all those clothes! I have three shirts and four pairs of shorts and my workout clothes (I just got rid of my to big work out clothes, I will admit to hanging onto those to long!) Oh and a couple work shirts. I just can't make myself spend money on clothes when I know I will only wear them a few months. Get out of the strech pants, they will fit forever, get something fitted, you will she more changes in your body that way. Good luck

Made these last night and was a great hit with my family and myself. I did use cod in mine instead of the tilapia. Per serving: 289 calories; 3 g fat (1 g saturated fat, 1 g mono unsaturated fat); 57 mg cholesterol; 37 g carbohydrates; 31 g protein; 4 g fiber; 373 mg sodium; 436 mg potassium Nutrition Bonus: Folate (19% daily value). recipes to Help You Get Healthy in a Hurry Quick Weeknight Dinners for $3 or Less 28 Days of Skinny Dinners Bite-Size Cookies, Bars & Brownies ingredients Canola oil cooking spray 1 cup whole-wheat dry breadcrumbs (see Note) or 1/2 cup plain dry breadcrumbs 1 cup whole-grain Cereal flakes 1 teaspoon lemon pepper 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 1/2 teaspoon paprika 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup all-purpose flour 2 large egg whites, beaten 1 pound tilapia fillets (see Note), cut into 1/2-by-3-inch strips directions <P class=directions> Preheat oven to 450°F. Set a wire rack on a baking sheet; coat with cooking spray. Place breadcrumbs, cereal flakes, lemon pepper, garlic powder, paprika and salt in a food processor or blender and process until finely ground. Transfer to a shallow dish. Place flour in a second shallow dish and egg whites in a third shallow dish. Dredge each strip of fish in the flour, dip it in the egg and then coat all sides with the breadcrumb mixture. Place on the prepared rack. Coat both sides of the breaded fish with cooking spray. Bake until the fish is cooked through and the breading is golden brown and crisp, about 10 minutes. Ingredient notes: We like Ian’s brand of coarse dry whole-wheat breadcrumbs, labeled “Panko breadcrumbs.” Find them in the natural-foods section of large supermarkets. To make your own breadcrumbs, trim crusts from firm sandwich bread. Tear the bread into pieces and process in a food processor until coarse crumbs form. (To make fine dry breadcrumbs, process until very fine.) Spread on a baking sheet and bake at 250°F until dry, about 10 to 15 minutes. One slice of bread makes about 1/3 cup dry breadcrumbs. U.S. farm-raised tilapia is a better choice for the environment because it is usually grown in closed farming systems that limit pollution. recipe source eatingwell

I did not know they made bands that small! Good luck with the new fill. My third fill seems to have done the trick for now. I have 7cc in a 15cc band. I was told as we lose wight you need fills because things get smaller and the lapband gets loose from that. I have lost 12 more pounds since my 3rd fill and I am very happy with that. It is work though. I go to curves 5 days a week and then out for a bike ride after that, then its off to work for 8 hours 4 days a week. The other two days I walk and even take one day off sometimes. I've been thinking about adding a evening walk with the hubby to my routine (he needs the exercise!) I also cannot sit still for long. My house is getting soooooooo clean! Today I moved out all the bedroom furniture and vacumed under it. We have been in the house three years and I have not bothered doing that to our room. How is everyone else doing?

I wiegh in once a week at the gym so I do not have that happen. it can be depressing not to see a change. Keep on doing what you are doing and it will happen.

How much weight to lose in 3 months?
brenda62 replied to AlexandraV's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
it depends on how much you have to lose and what you eat ect(also your tom can effect it also) I have lost 59 pounds since March 28th, but I work hard at it and get my fills. -
yeah spot! I feel the same about fitting in a booth when we eat out! I know even have extra room
-
after the third fill I am getting full faster which is great! I still go through times when I am hungery every two hours. Maybe that is just going to be normal for me.

I bought on a couple of weeks ago and have been riding it to and from curves. The only problem I have is it is mostly up hill on the way back, but it does give me a work out. We need to get a bike carrier for the suv so we can go ride the bike loop( 7 miles) without as many hills! I ride at 6 am and am home by 730am so I can miss the heat here. Good for you and enjoy p.s. I bought the big butt seat for mine and had my husband change it out for me. so much better!
