My 4yo daughter is near the bottom of the chart for weight, with average height. She's 15kg, or 33 pounds. You can see all her ribs and she constantly gets little bruises on her back where her vertebrae stick out. I find it "odd", because I was a chunky toddler who grew into a chunky kid, chunky teen, obese adult. But my husband was a "greyhound" when he was a kid - just like our daughter - and only started filling out with muscle in his 20s. Our little girl is OBSESSED with healthy food. Everything she eats, she wants to know "Mummy, is this good for our hearts or should we only eat a little bit sometimes?" She's like a walking catalogue - someone will mention the word mango and she'll say "Mango is fruit, and fruit is good for our hearts, so we can eat it every day, and fruit helps our poos come out too." She does have a soft spot for McDonalds and ice cream, which I let her have because I believe in "everything in moderation, including moderation". I home-make the ice cream though, so I know it's high in fruit and low in sugar (relative to store-bought.) Her most common takeout food is smoked or raw salmon and avocado sushi. (Because fish and avocado are good for our hearts, of course!) Or ham/cheese/carrot/avocado sandwich on multigrain bread. She is also very active, another trait she gets from her dad. I was always hopeless at sport and really uncoordinated. Our daughter, on the other hand, is great - she does swimming lessons, ballet, soccer, and has just started gymnastics (and stopped soccer).

I'm not in Kansas City - I'm in Australia - but I did a year at KU in Lawrence, so I feel kinda local to you guys! Hi, everyone! -
Bloated-4 days since being banded
cakegirl replied to KoKoMack's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The more you walk, the sooner it will pass. I used to walk up and down my street, stopping every so often to let go of some of the gas! -
Any of you have 2 sets of hips?
cakegirl replied to spoiltmom's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Do you mean instead of a smooth hip curve, you have two? If so, then yes I have that too - one lot of fat that goes from my waist down to where my underpants leg goes, and then another bump of fat that goes out from there down my leg... I've been like that since i hit puberty. -
Still the fat one at the table-really?
cakegirl replied to NJGirl32's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, I look around to see if I'm the heaviest. I usually still am, but sometimes I'm not, which is nice You're doing a great job, and you'll be one of those skinny ladies soon!!! -
Wow, congratulations! It must be a great feeling! You should be proud of your accomplishments! Well done!

I've only been banded 7 or so weeks, but my obsession with food is pretty much GONE. I used to be constantly hungry, so I was always thinking - What can I eat? What food is in the fridge? How much money is in my purse and what food can I buy with it? When is hubby coming home from work - we should go to a cafe! I feel like potatoes. What should I make for dinner? etc etc etc I have found that with the removal of the hunger motivator, I just don't think about it any more. When I do get hungry, I know that I'll be satisfied with just a little food, so it's not an obsessive thought process any more. It's just more straight forward. Like "I'm hungry, I'm at the mall so I guess I'll buy a sushi roll". Then I buy it, eat it, and it's all over LOL!

For me, savoury baby food is just disgusting, but the sweet stuff - pureed fruits or pureed fruit/veg mixes are OK. And I like the apple custard type ones too. I did eat a few jars of it when I was on the mushy stage, just because it was easy to grab at the supermarket when I was out instead of trying to find a takeaway that sold soup!!!

I've hit 10kg lost, which is 1/4 of the way to my goal! So proud of myself. And I've actually lost more - I jumped on the scales tonight and weighed less than I did this morning, even though I'd just had a big drink of water! Can't wait to weigh in again next Monday!!!

That's identical to the instructions from my surgeon when I got my first fill. It seemed a bit extreme, but oh well, I'm compliant so I did what my doctor told me to do!

I can't see it...
cakegirl replied to SumthinsGottaGive's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't picture myself slim either because I've never BEEN slim - I have no idea what I'll look like, what my body shape will be, what styles of clothes will suit me and what won't. It's an exciting journey to a new destination I've never been before!!! -
Yay, I've just cracked 10kg lost! I'm 1/4 of the way to my goal!!!

I've lost about the same amount of weight as you, and the same thing has happened. My boobs are still filling out the cups, but I've had to go from having my bras on the biggest clasp (and be too tight) to having to put it on the smallest (and having it be comfortable). And as my belly gets smaller, the boobs are starting to look huge! Things might be different because I've had a baby, but the only time I've managed to lose weight in the past (pre-baby), I did end up losing a LOT of filling in the cup eventually.

How to ask gp for referral to get LapBand?
cakegirl replied to banded_princess's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Great! I was very direct too. I had already chosen my surgeon, so I just went in and said "I need a referral to Dr Caska for lapband." She asked a few questions, which I answered, and that was that! Good luck for your surgery! -
why do we feel thirsty
cakegirl replied to hopeful2 be slim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me neither. -
Well done - you must be so proud!

Since being banded, do you notice how much people eat more??
cakegirl replied to screeden's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I really notice it too. I went to an all-you-can-eat buffet last week and was just gobsmacked by the massive amounts of food that people were inhaling! -
I can eat everything on your list. I had a peanut butter sandwich for lunch today!
-
Well done!!!

I had gas after the fill - I farted all night and today too! Not painful chest gas or anything though.

August Bandsters Did you get your 2nd Fill Yet?
cakegirl replied to Sharon1222's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
First fill was yesterday. I got 2cc. -
I broke my next-door neighbour's dining chair. And I haven't been able to wear a skirt or dress without leggings underneath since I was about 8. I have told hubby that if i get to my goal weight and my thighs still touch, I'm getting lypo, for sure!
