Pcp Says No Alcohol With Lap Band?
cakegirl replied to horsegirl315's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon said I was OK to drink alcohol, but to be aware of the empty calories. -
Question About The Lap Band ID Card That You Can Get From Allergan
cakegirl replied to cakegirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yay, my surgeon gave me a card! Now to convince the club we're going to Christmas lunch at to only charge me a child's price...... -
Question About The Lap Band ID Card That You Can Get From Allergan
cakegirl replied to cakegirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for that Alex! I'm printing it out to take to my surgeon now! HDQT, from what I have heard, you need to get the serial number of your band, then go to the allergan website and join it using the serial number, and then you can request a card from them on there. Rebecca -
Hi there. I was put on metformin to help with the blood sugar, and the doc said that he'd prescribe clomid when I want to fall pregnant to encourage ovulation. As for the beard, IPL laser hair removal is doing the trick. Slowly - you have to go for lots of sessions, a few weeks apart - but each month there's a few fewer hairs. Good luck!

I know how you feel! I've been stuck at this weight for 2 months. Getting another fill tomorrow, so hopefully that will help... PCOS sucks.

One Year After Lap Band Surgery........
cakegirl replied to muelle's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You must be so proud of everything you've achieved in the past year! -
I wore underwear and a pad.

Oh, and while normally if I'm going to have bread it's multigrain toast, I do sometimes get a sandwich when out for lunch - two slices of white bread, and I haven't had anything close to getting stuck with that.
-
I still eat sushi and toast. And I have no problem eating chicken breast or any other meats or anything. I've gotten slightly stuck on chicken once, but that was when I was stupidly trying to have leftover chicken schnitzel in the morning. I've also gotten stuck on a hash brown, also in the morning. Only took a couple of mistakes before I realised that breakfast had to be some kind of combination of coffee/tea/protein shake/fruit and nut smoothie, and not chicken or potato!

Good point, Cindy C!

115lbs Gone In About 9 Months With Lap Band Surgery!

Wow, you're looking great - your face looks like there is a whole new you shining through! -
"Aww, you would really do that to yourself, just to get to me?" - ultimately your coworker might realise that sabotaging THEMSELF actually has no bearing on your decisions or your weight loss.

Jealousy Issues After Lap Band Surgery ?
cakegirl replied to screeden's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm glad to hear your husband has complimented you again, and got the ball rolling for his own injury too. I have a friend that has put on weight this past year, and she makes a lot of snippy comments about everything being so "easy" for me because I had surgery... Grr! -
I have no problem eating chicken.

I'm back - I've been away and not able to access this site... I still haven't lost any weight, but I did have a bit of an ephiphany while away on my vacation... I've been relying on the band to tell me when to NOT eat, but I now realise I should have been relying on it to tell me WHEN to eat. Make sense? No?! But here's the thing... Before, I would have breakfast because it was breakfast time. I'd try to make a healthy choice about what to eat, and I'd eat slowly until the band told me to stop. But after a couple of REALLy bad decisions while away, I resolved to not eat "because it's breakfast time" or "because I'm at a cafe" or "because the menu looks really tasty"... Instead, I'm not eating ANYTHING until my BODY tells me its hungry. THEN I make the healthy decision, and eat until the band tells me to stop. BIG DIFFERENCE! I'm probably eating half what I was eating before having this realisation!

I Hate Exercise! Need Suggestions!
cakegirl replied to DebHart71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
With a 3yo daughter, zumba is a great idea because she'll probably like to do it too! My just-turned-4yo loves to zumba with me! -
My surgeon seemed to think that I could go back to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training after the surgery. I'm almost 4 months out and not sure yet if I'd be able to do it. My port doesn't hurt from pressure like leaning, but I'm definitely aware of it. Especially - as someone mentioned above - if I overeat. I'm going to give BJJ a try early February when my daughter goes back to school and I can do day classes. Here's hoping!

Anyone been overweight their ENTIRE life?
cakegirl replied to Kellysue's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was a solid toddler - not fat but not particularly petite either. I know by the time I was 7yo I was getting chunky, and when I was 10 I passed 60kg (132lbs). At that point, I was definitely overweight and have never been a "normal" weight since. The lightest I have been was 5 years ago - I was exercising 21 hours a week and doing Jenny Craig, and I lost a lot of weight, but I got stuck at 72kg (158lbs). For my height, in order to be "healthy" weight, I had to get under 69kg (152lbs). I tried and tried and tried and I just could NOT get under 72kg. I was stuck there for 5 months before I got pregnant and put on over 30kg (66lbs)... And I hardly lost any of it. -
Wow, you are doing so well!

Who Knows And What Do You Tell People After Lap Band Surgery...
cakegirl replied to sunshine_x's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I told all my family, my in-laws, and all my friends. I figure I'll need support through it all, and those are who I'm counting on for it! Plus, if my journey can help someone else who is battling with their weight, then that's a good thing! Since the surgery, I haven't told many new people. I had one friend blurt it out to a lady I had only just met for the first time that day, and that felt weird. I've met a large number of people in the past few weeks, and I haven't told any of them - when there has been food served at events, I've just declined with "No thanks, I'm not really a big fan of this type of dish..." or something vague like "Sorry, I've got some tummy troubles and can't really eat that." I'm going to be spending time with these people for years (new job, new school), so I figure if I put out the vague "tummy troubles", they won't be surprised if my eating seems a little "weird" to them in the future... -
At least the Australia part of your dream was ok Good luck getting back on track!
