Another Lap Band Failure Reporting In
cakegirl replied to skinnyoneday's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If I were in your position, I think I'd go back to basics. I'd pretend that today was my surgery day, and go through all the baby steps from the beginning again. The liquid diet for a week or two, moving on to mushies for a week or two, never more than half a cup at a time, choosing protein-rich food, and no junk or sliders... And just work it from the beginning. Today is a new day -

Not Losing Weight After Lap Band Surgery
cakegirl replied to serenity786's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're still healing. I didn't start to lose weight properly until more than 3 months after my band, when I got my 3rd fill. You'll reach a point where it just starts to happen -
Post Lap Band Surgery 6 Days
cakegirl replied to thinspiration's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to tell you, I was always the cook of my family, friends, etc. I'm the one that would experiment with food and then hold parties and dinners and over cater with ridiculous amounts of delicious food... I thought I'd never be able to do that again, but here I am only 4 months post-band, and I catered a great Christmas Eve afternoon tea with gourmet tidbits! I think I went for finger food out of my new lifestyle - making finger food for everyone meant that I could have one of everything and not overeat! This is all new for you. Take comfort: you can still be a part of food and your family celebrations given a little time -
Help!! I'm Getting Dehydrated, Had Lap Band Surgery 5 Days Ago
cakegirl replied to mdlapband's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was really dehydrated for the first couple of weeks after getting the band, because I just couldn't stomach the water. Just sip, sip, sip when you can, don't try to "catch up" by drinking too much too fast, and just rest assured that as you heal, you'll be able to drink more and more. -
I provide only healthy snacks in the house. Sometimes we'll bake a cake or cookies or something, but even then we try to make the cake healthier. For example, swapping oil for applesauce, using pureed kidney beans instead of flour, etc. When we're away from home, I choose the healthier options and my daughter models her behaviour on me. We often have sushi when we're at a food court, even when there's McDonalds, KFC, donuts, etc all around.

After A Lap Band Fill What Do You Eat???
cakegirl replied to fofo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor puts me on liquids only for 24 hours, and then careful eating after that. For the first 24 hours, I have optifast shakes, soup, coffee, etc. -
Help Stuck In Starvation Mode
cakegirl replied to lovemysgt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also have a liquid breakfast, which allows me to have my two meals (lunch and dinner) later in the day, when the band feels a little looser. -

My cat is also a port-sitter! -
Yep, in January, I had to wear 10 3-pound weights. On the weekend, I only had to wear 8 of them. I guess my next goal is to only need 6, which is what my husband wears!!! I'll be thinking of you for your nuclear stress tests

Yay!

Howdy everyone! The weight is finally "falling off" for me, so I guess I'm in the "green zone" and if I can just remember to not START eating till I'm hungry, I should be good for a while! I had a major NSV yesterday. I scuba dive, and last time I went was in January. I had to hire a men's XL wetsuit and wear a L vest... So DH and I went diving yesterday, and I tried on and rented a M/L - I thought it was a men's size, but it was actually a WOMEN'S M/L. WOAH!!! It was sooooo tight, but there was no way I was going to swap it for a larger size once I got it on!!! Oh, and the vest was an M!

When do the Lap band Surgical Strips come off?
cakegirl replied to jenlyn122's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think mine said 12 days for the clear plasters that were on. -
Pre Lap Band Surgery Testing?
cakegirl replied to MrsMyers10's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have any testing. Not even blood work. I gues I'd had some blood work done a couple of months before I saw the surgeon, but thinking back, I don't think he ever saw that paperwork or anything. So there you go, I had less testing than you -
Great!

I had hypnotherapy a couple of years ago and it did absolutely nothing for my weight. I did feel relaxed and energised. But didn't lose any weight.

Hahahaha! Congratulations Bob!

"you're Not Going To Lose Any More Weight, Right?"
cakegirl replied to HolliJ's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think this says something about our western cultures. People look at women in the "normal" weight range and see them as "skinny". Because being overweight is, unfortunately, becoming normal. -
What Did You Eat Today?
cakegirl replied to Michele1975's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded August 15. Breakfast - brioche and honey-cinnamon butter and a cup of tea lunch - one sushi roll with tuna and avocado, and one vegetarian sushi roll, one strawberry, and one skim latte dinner - beef/vegetable lasagne Supper - don't know yet, but it will be something I have in my fridge/pantry. Probably a piece of fruit or maybe some yoghurt.
