As an update to this... My health went downhill after I first posted on here. Plus I went on Weight Watchers and only managed to lose 1.8kg in 10 weeks - what a joke and a waste of money! I was physically unable to eat the points they wanted me to - I was left cramping and hungry and with low blood sugar headaches and everything... I ended up being diagnosed with PCOS (which apparently I've had for a LONG time undiagnosed), insulin resistance, borderline type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome. When four different doctors agreed that the lapband would help me with all of these problems, DH didn't need any more convincing - he even paid the gap between what the insurance would pay and what the doctor charged! So I'm happily banded now for 3 weeks!

I've been drinking my coffee too, since surgery I've gone down to the smallest cup they sell though!

Today was the first time that someone who doesn't know about the surgery has noticed my weight loss! My friends who know about the surgery are REALLY watching me, to see if they can see the weight falling off. I'm almost self-conscious that I haven't lost "enough" to "show" them or something. But today, I was walking down my driveway, and my neighbour stopped me and commented that I've been getting thinner, and good on me! YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!! You couldn't wipe the smile off my face for about 3 hours! :D

Incidentally, I'm craving chocolate and ice cream tonight, which makes me think that AF may be gearing up to come early this month - which would definitely explain the gain. I always retain over 1kg of fluid the week before AF, and lose it the first couple of days. -

Quite a few of my friends have met their partners through eharmony. The good thing about eharmony is that there's a detailed personality analysis, and they match you with people you're actually likely to be compatabile with. This is different to the other dating sites that will just match you with people who are the right gender, age, and near you. I met my husband at a sporting school. Maybe that could be something that can help you with your weight-loss goals as well as introducing you to a new social group. A lot of sporting clubs have social events and a lively social scene. I met my husband doing martial arts, but I've also been involved in clubs for scuba diving, soccer, and Water polo that all had frequent BBQs and parties. At the very least, you might make some friends, and "the one" could be there, or your new friends might be able to introduce you to him!

Taking a Gut Punch (Self Defense, Martial Artists, Boxers Advice)

I asked my surgeon about the port in these situations, given that I did karate and wrestling and can't wait to go back to them... He seemed to think it would all be fine, and I he chose the type of band based on which port had a lower profile with the contact sports in mind. He has said that if I lose all my abdominal padding () that he can revise the port's location in the future. -
Last week, I only lost 0.1kg, which is nothing really. I was a bit worried that I'd stopped losing weight until my first fill, but this week it's dropped off again. I don't weigh-in "officially" until tomorrow, but I jumped on the scales this morning and I'm already down 1kg Very pleased about that. I started a thread yesterday about my first NSV - my neighbour stopped me in my driveway and complimented me on "getting skinner", which was thrilling! I'm fitting into clothes I've never worn before (bought them without trying them on and then found out they were too tight)... And a funny one - my bras are fitting better (less side/back fat), but my boobs actually look bigger! Because my belly is shrinking! FINALLY, I've been waiting for the belly to shrink for 4 years since my daughter was born!!! I stayed looking pregnant all that time! SOOOO pleased with how this is all turning out!

My problem with the chewable vitamins is the artificial colours and flavours that are used. We're additive-free in our house, so they really go against everything we believe about nutrition!

I just LOVE scuba diving - I'm pretty sure I was a manatee or a dugong in a past life - I love the ocean but I hate boats!!! I finally convinced my hubby to get certified last year, and we've been on a few dives this year together. He's chomping at the bit to get back in the Water, but doesn't want to dive without me, and my surgeon wants me to not swim for a long time, so hubby will have to wait. I'm hoping to go up to the Great Barrier Reef with hubby, possibly early next year... He won't know what hit him! (I've already dived up there, so I know how good it will be!) Plus there's been an ex-military ship sunk near us that we can dive on... I can't wait!

I can't wait to go back to diving after my incisions heal!

I had the shots about 10 years ago and can't recommend them enough! It was a 3-year process, but before the first year was finished, I was able to get a pet cat - something that would have been IMPOSSIBLE prior to the immunotherapy injections.

I think both ends of the spectrum are pretty common. I've had my band for 3 weeks, and I find that some days I'm just not hungry at all, and other days, I'll get hungry at regular meal times. I remind myself to eat though, even on the not hungry days, just to keep my body fuelled.

Cindy C - thanks!!! HeavyDutyQ-tee, NSV = "Non scale Victory"

My doctor didn't set a goal for me. He left it up to me. I am the same height as you, and my goal is 130.

Popping in to say hello - for those that remember me - The band was a waste for me....

Good luck with your visit next month. I hope it's just that you need some extra fluid in your band to get the right restriction. At least with the big band, there's a lot of extra fluid that can go in there! -
Has anyone used any healing/scar creams?
cakegirl replied to Martha78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used bio-oil on my c-section scar, and I'll be using it on the band scars too, once the dressings come off. -
Gotta love the 80's

I'm feeling great too. I don't have an appointment with my surgeon for a fill until the end of September, but for now I'm happy with that. I'm getting full after eating just a little, the weight is coming off, and I feel healthy!
