Creamy Edamame, Lime, and Coconut Soup
weho replied to Soup-a-Woman's topic in Vegetarian, vegan, raw foods
Wow, this looks great! I bookmarked your site. I love soup and am excited to try this healthy recipe. Thanks! -
Stay strong! Go for a walk, read, get on the phone and talk to someone, play a game on the computer. This liquid diet will be a faint memory before too long, I promise. Good luck you you both!

You look GREAT! I love those shoes. I currently have a pair of platforms that I'm using as motivation. Congrats on your weight loss!

I concur with Tera, the cucumber wrapped sushi is awesome, but it's a little pricey. I have been eating sushi with rice for about a month and a half with no issues. I just have to eat it slow, or it causes discomfort when going down. I alternate between salmon alvacado roll and smoked salmon sashimi. I eat this once or twice a week. Love it!

My app doesn't require gps. I downloaded an app off of itunes and use it on my ipod.

One Year Sleeversary
weho replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Girl, you look great! You have busted your butt and it has paid off! -
At 6 weeks out I was cleared to eat a normal diet. But some of my surgeons rules is to keep fat and sugar under 10 grams. I also tried/try to watch my carbs. My dietician recommends "protein then produce" . So at each "meal" I eat meat or meat substitute and then finish it off with some fresh fruit or veggies. I had difficulty with chicken at first, so I ate and still eat A LOT of seafood. Carolina girl has some good suggestions. Take care and good luck on your journey!

As others have suggested, "baby" spoons are very useful. You can buy cocktail spoons at Pier 1.

I am so sorry for your loss. I can not even imagine! Saying a prayer for you!

Well, first of all, make sure that your surgeon is aware of this! During the first 6 weeks after surgery, your sleeve is in an inflamed state as it is healing. So one day you may be able to eat something and the next you can't. I've heard of this going on as long as 6 months post op. As early out as you are you will not be able to eat much at all. Are you eating too fast? Also, some foods may not agree with you just yet. I was told that if I am not doing well progressing to the next stage to regress to the previous stage (liquids in you case) for a day or two. It will get better! Take care!

So sorry that you are suffering from this! Did you have to go on a special diet due to the ulcers? I get concerned when I read stuff like this. I have not taken any type of antacid since my surgery (or before). My doctor did not recommend taking one. Which is weird. I guess my concern is that I will find out when it is too late that I needed to take one. But I haven't had any problems that I am aware of. Good luck to you!! Sending positive thoughts your way!

Zumba is a great workout. I've heard that when you start building muscle, your body tends to hold onto extra water weight, but that it is eventually shed. Don't be afraid to build muscle since it aids in burning fat. In the end that muscle will help bring the numbers on the scale down and you'll look and feel better. It looks like you are doing awesome!

You look great! Congrats on your hard work...it's well worth it, ha?

Has this happened to you?
weho replied to FishingNurse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep, I agree with Lakelady, it has been when I have over-eaten. I've done it a couple of times. Yuck! -
I haven't had coffe since my surgery, but I drink 5 hour energy drinks occasionaly since about 5 weeks out (once or twice a week). I had a glass of wine at about 3 weeks after surgery. I remember thinking it wasn't worth it. But about 5 weeks after surgery it seemed worth it to me My manual says not to drink for a year after surgery. I have, but have had no problems. Good luck in your journey!

Krista, are you doing this on a treadmill? Just curious. I have been going to my gym; it has an indoor track. But I have a treadmill in the garage so that is another option for me.
-
Aw, thanks Krista. You are an inspiration to people like me I'm going to do this if it kills me!. I have started Pilates also and am really liking it. I feel like since I've lost weight my exercise options have increased and I can get more of a variety to help in preventing burn out. Thanks and good luck to you!

I think that I have finally lost enough weight that I can do this. I did w1d1 once every week to week and a half. The first few times I did it my hip and feet were so sore the day of and the next day. But each time I did it my body would recover quicker. I have now done two of the w2 and am having no soreness! So now I'm going to try to do this 3 times a week and see where it goes from here. IGood luck to all who are doing this...I've heard it's great for weight loss.

10 mistakes WLS patients make..
weho replied to Papa Jack's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Damn, I thought I was doing good till I got to #10. -
I too felt hunger before my soft solids started at 2 weeks post op. I think that this is pretty normal. I guess I was lucky that I was cleared to eat soft foods so early after surgery. Once I was able to eat I felt much more satisfied and didn't have the hunger or appetite issues as much. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Just stick with your surgeon's plan! Good luck to you!

Yay! That's what I love about the sleeve. We can still indulge in our favorites. That actually sounds like a pretty healthy bowl! What I have discovered that I can still enjoy post sleeve are the buffets, believe it or not. But I get it "to go" and it is so cheap. I can get a baked tilapia fillet and some veggies for less than $2. It's good for those days that I am starving and don't have the time to go home and cook.

How much did you lose at 3 months?
weho replied to Pagie's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I was down 38 lbs, or a little over 50% of my excess weight. Good luck to you! -
This thread just goes to show how different our post op diets are! I was allowed to eat soft fruits (melon, berries) at 2 weeks, and anything (including all raw veggies) at 6 weeks. I haven't really eaten salads. I eat quite a bit of fruit, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes. I haven't had any problems with raw fruits or veggies. Good luck to you in your journey! You will find that when you have a craving it doesn't take much to satisfy it.

I think it is completely normal to question yourself. For me this was the biggest decision I had ever made in my life. So I spent a lot of time going through the "what if's" for the sake of my family. The day before surgery my husband said that he would support my decision to back out...no questions asked. I was tempted to take him up on his offer! But the reason why I proceeded is because I knew if I didn't that it would be business as usual. Keep gaining weight and putting my health on the line. My mother had a stroke a few years ago and we had the make the decision to take her off life support...I did not want to put my family through that anytime soon if there was something that I could do to help prevent it. I was literally so depressed with myself that I saw this surgery as my way out. Don't get me wrong, I didn't think this was the "magic pill" but I knew that it would be a powerful tool to help me in a way that nothing else could. So when people ask me if I would recommend this surgery to others, I tell them yes...but only if you are to the point of desperation. There have been people who have asked who I feel aren't there yet. This is all just my opinion though. Vst Addict, you sound like you are there. It is SO EASY for me to encourage others to have this surgery because things have been picture perfect for me. But the self doubt and fear before surgery was pure hell. Once I made it through surgery it all seemed like a breeze...dealing with the physical was much easier than dealing with the mental. I wish you the very best in your journey!

Wow, what a double blessing! Congrats to you and good luck on your many blessings ahead!
