  1. I swim laps ... lots of them... and after telling my doc this, he said 3 months... If you really swim laps, then you know that it stretches/uses your stomach muscles a lot... if you are just going to putter around in the pool or do some stretching/mild Water aerobics, then 1 month or whatever your doc said for walking should be fine... But warning... you might want to avoid swimming for a while... you know how the water temperature drops your body temp, causing you to be hungry... that might still affect you even post-op... Opps.. just read Disney's post after posting this... and totally agree with her!! LOL
  2. today i'm wearing a smocked top dress that fit me when I was 90 pounds heavier... i looked in the mirror in the restroom and realized it looks like i'm wearing a tent... oops :)

  5. have gained a kilo in the last week :( what's up with that???

  6. Hi MeggieP.... mine looked a lot like yours.... they were massive... after my doctor touched one and i yelled cuz it hurt so bad, he took me off of heparin... (at first i told him that the injection sites hurt and he said that is normal and that all the patients complain that it hurts more than the surgery,,,, then he told me to let him have a look... I lifted up my shirt and he gasped... I asked "is that normal??" and he said "NO... no more heparin for you!!!".... Under each of my bruises was a knot (hematoma) of blood that had to be re-absorbed by my body... They were so bloody painful... http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/gallery/album/841-my-heparin-bruises/

  9. I stopped my bc pills 2 weeks before surgery... and had my period within a week... The hormones actually leave your body very fast... Plus, i turned out to be allergic to the heparin (the anti-clotting shots they give you in your stomach)... but I didn't develop a clot..... Mention it to your doctor, but they will probably go ahead with the surgery...

Is your birth control the culprit?

This is very interesting!! Thanks for posting... I'm 30 days post-op... last week i started taking my bc pills again because I can't take my iron pills and during my 1st period post-op, i was so dizzy and almost fainted several times.... Since i started taking my bc again, I only lost 2 pounds for the whole week... and I have been craving carbs soooo much, which is strange cuz i've been low-carbing it... I just stopped taking the pills yesterday, cuz I figured the hormones were messing up my weight loss... I hope stopping helps!

    Dumping sydrome

Yep it sounds like dumping syndrome... I had it for about 6 months after my gall bladder surgery last year... My triggers were any kind of greasy food, like bbq and sweets... Try to avoid too much grease and sugar... increase your veggies a bit, especially things like spinach and salad... that really helped me, and now mine is completely gone!! Hope you feel better!!

  15. low carb cheat day... ok so I've been doing 20 grams of carbs a day... its bloody hard... so today being 1 day after my month 1 surgiversary, decided it was carbs in moderation day... :) and if feel better... toast was what i really wanted so i bought a loaf of mini breakfast bread = heaven ...i've eaten 2 pieces.. the rest is going in my freezer in the morning!!

  16. went for a brisk 30 minute walk... last summer i walked 1/4 of the distance at the same track and was winded.. tonight i did 4 laps... plus the endorphins are helping my depression!! nice :)

  17. Almost started crying after watching juliarh's most recent video... i felt like she was talking to me... i really needed a dose of her positivity!!

  18. not losing weight.. personal life sux... this just isn't my week

  19. Hi ... First of all the pain meds... When I came out of anesthesia i was in so much pain.. i asked for pain meds and got them and they didn't work... I was in tears and grinding my teeth and finally they realized... wow maybe she does have pain... So they added a 3rd painkiller and finally it worked... I mentioned it to my doctor before I left the hospital and he asked what about my gall bladder surgery last year, and I told him that whatever they gave me knocked me out for about 3 days... Then I recommended that they use better drugs if they want more patients. Gas pain... I had it for about 2 weeks... even after week 1 i was commenting on here that it felt like the baby alien in Alien 1 was trying to rip out of my chest.... It hurts like heck, but it does go away...... Try sleeping on your side.... The wonderful ICU night nurse at the hospital wrapped a back brace like band around my stomach and then rolled me over... OMG it felt so good... for the first 2 weeks I slept with that thing on... it kept my stomach from jiggling when i turned over and reduced my pain sooooooo much!!! Buy one!!! My best advice EVER!!! If the acid reflux meds are not working try asking for a new one... I take a sublingual pill right before sleeping... with Water.... and my acid is minimal, unless I drink a lot after taking the pill... So maybe try not to drink after taking your night-time pill.. and take it minutes before sleeping... Tightness.... Im 25 days out and I'm just now able to drink a bit easier... I think my sleeve is very small or I have a lot of swelling still.... Im guessing its swelling (because of my long-term asthma steroid use, I heal much slower than the average person)... anyway... last week... week 3 i puked... a lot... this week, only once so far..... I can only get down about 2 ounces of any kind of food... and drinks... maybe 4 ounces...but I try to just sip constantly..... So, you can see....it does get better....give it another 2 weeks and you will feel so much better!!! Good luck!!!

    When did you start eating...

i'm eating semi solids i guess... like a soft fish fillet, scrambled or over-easy eggs, pork patties... but it has to be soft and I have to chew really well or it kinda gets stuck and hurts really bad i'm also still doing protein shakes daily to make sure I get enough protein....
