  1. Rosalind, you are totally right!!! I'm a good example because most people at 240 are in a size 20 or 22, but i'm in a 16... i have a lot of muscle mass from doing sports my whole life ....so i'm heavier than most people in my clothing size, and when i get down to a size 8, i'm still going to be heavier than the average person wearing a size 8

Why can't we drink when we eat?

I had the same urge to drink too for the first 2 months, and well, i spent a LOT of time puking or what we like to call on here "GETTING SLIMED" .....i have now mostly gotten over the urge to drink and only vomit slime every once in a while when i forget to not drink....

  4. wow! using my food journal last week has really started to pay off!! down 2 pounds in the last 3 days!!! what everyone says about you consuming more or less than you think if you don't write it down is so very true!! thanks for the great advice!! :)

  5. i'm at 244 right now, but am can fit into all of my size 16s which would not go up past my thighs 3 weeks ago... i've only lost 5 pounds over the last 3 weeks, but because i've been working out like a mad woman and have gained a lot of muscle and lost a lot of fat in the meantime... i look about 20 pounds lighter than i really am... last time i got down to a size 16 i was around 220, but i was only walking to work out then, this time around i'm doing taekwondo and aikido about 8 hours a week at high intensity.. its making a huge difference!!!!
  6. i ♥ my "Diet Minder: Personal Food & Fitness Journal" !!!

  7. OMG ... NSV... on a lark i decided to try on my 16s .. they fit!! all of them, even the non-stretchy blue jeans!!! :) YAY!!!

  8. i like MyFitnessPal to count calories, but i just realized how much variation there is among the same things... :( ... this is the problem of a database compiled by users (some of whom are apparently idiots or in denial)... not using it anymore... any recommendations for a real database not compiled by the dregs of humanity???

  9. today XL pants and M shirt :)

  10. i have only lost about 4 pounds in the last 3 weeks, but today I tried on 2 pairs of capris that were way to tight to breathe in 3 weeks ago, and they were loose.. almost too loose!!! I FREAKING LOVE MY SLEEVE!!!

  11. back to writing everything down... am supposed to be at 800 cals/day... today was 536 cal, 25 carbs, 44 protein... shocked... thought i was getting in more of everything!!! yesterday was similar :( good to know what i need to work on though..

  13. http://homecookingro...sams-picadillo/ Oops... Filipino.... Ingredients 1 whole upo (bottle gourd), about 18 inches long 2 tbsps. of cooking oil 1 onion, chopped 6 cloves of garlic, minced 3 tomatoes, roughly chopped 400 g. of coarsely ground pork 4 to 6 c. of broth patis (fish sauce), to taste freshly milled black pepper Instructions To prepare the upo, cut about half an inch off both ends. You may cut theupo into halves or thirds for easier handling. Using a small sharp utility knife, cut off the skin. Then, cut the skinned upo vertically into halves to expose the center. Using a spoon, scoop out the seeds. Cut the flesh into half-inch cubes. Heat the cooking oil in a pot. Saute the onion and tomatoes. Do this over medium heat until the vegetables start to liquefy. Add the garlic. Saute for another minute. Turn up the heat. Add the ground pork to the pot. Season with fish sauce and pepper. Cook, stirring, until the pork is no longer pink. Pour in the broth. Add the upo cubes. Taste and add more fish sauce and pepper. Bring to the boil, lower the heat, cover and simmer for about ten minutes or until the upo cubes are tender. Serve hot. Preparation time: 15 minute(s) Cooking time: 15 minute(s) Number of servings (yield): 4 to 6
  14. that sucks... my PCP didn't want me to do the surgery... he was totally against it until i asked him to figure out what my BMI was... after he did that, he was more accepting... it was very funny too because all of his nurses came into the injection room afterwards and asked me about the surgery and told me that i was making a great decision and told me good luck... some doctors are just idiots... don't stress over it!! oh, and TexasT's rec. for the sublingual B-12 is great! .. i live in Korea, and just today i ordered some online from Walgreen's in the US, and my sister is going to mail them to me
  15. gained back about 5 pounds... then realized i've only been getting in about 1 liter of water a day... have upped it and dropped most of the weight :)

30 days out and not losing

its normal and will end, make sure you are getting in all of your water too... my "3 week stall" actually occurred in week 5 for me.. it's different for everyone... don't stress, that makes it worse.. also, you could try switching out one of the shakes for real protein (in addition to your dinner protein)... maybe for breakfast....
  18. I'm ordering t-shirts online... right now i am in 18 pants and i've been wearing some of my ex's t-shirts... Men's large is a bit snug, and xl are a bit too loose... so should i order Women's Large or Mediums??? they won't get here for about a month... any advice???

  19. am now doing 1 1/2 hours of Taekwondo twice a week & 1 1/2 hours of Aikido 3 times a week... could hardly walk up 2 flights of stairs today... (surprisingly wasn't winded at all, just thought my legs were going to fall off) :)

    Vigorous vs moderate exercise

aqua jogging... buy a float belt and you can do it on your own in any pool.. no classes needed like with water aerobics and the workout is much better (i'm a former lifeguard and water aerobics instructor)... aqua jogging is what most uni & pro athletes do for rehab... i've done it too... it is an amazing workout and there is no impact on your knees and ankle, whereas there is some impact with water aerobics.... ( i did it for 1 year after i tore my right anterior talofibular ligament in my ankle) .... it really helped and let me exercise when i could hardly even walk
  22. Overall i'm happy with the positive replies on here... the last thing we need is judgmental people who are in denial on here... My viewpoint in life is that totally stopping something 100% that you are addicted to doesn't always work... cuz when you fall of the wagon, you fall hard... I think that moderation is the key to all addictions, whether its food, alcohol, etc.... And thanks to our sleeve we have the key to moderation.... Pair that with good to moderately good food choices and we are set... And like i said, and others have said, it's not the McDonald's chicken wrap that made you fat, its the Big Mac, the chicken sandwich, fries, coke and hot fudge sundae that did it.. or the huge bowls of Pasta.... or whatever your addiction was... Peace! and a special shout out to all of the people who took this post as what it was meant to be, a way to share info on what we are eating, and some tips......... thanks Southernsleever, Supersweetums, and as always, Tiffykins!!!
  23. finally hit the big -50 !! yay!!

  24. So, i'm sooooo careful about charting my weight daily and looking back over the last 4 weeks i've realized that i lose the most on Sunday and Monday, which coincide with the huge amount of dancing i do on Saturday night into Sunday morning... but for the days i'm just walking... zip!! SO... from now on i'm going to forget about walking... it uses a lot of time for very few calories burned... instead i'm going to focus on higher intensity aerobic exercise!!!
