    6 weeks out..popcorn??

I don't think the concern is the popcorn itself but the small pieces of the kernel. Most surgeons ask that you don't eat seeds or things of that nature until three months because your stitch line has not completely healed. Obviously this is your call, but the relevance isn't whether or not it doesn't make you sick or not, but how it effects your stomach.

    Need advice

Just reiterating, that pressure is the new signal for fullness. Slow way down. It will take you a while to learn all the new signals but you will get it. Best of luck!

    If given the choice younger

I wasn't ready. I was desperate to lose weight and would be thrilled if I could have avoided ten more years of obesity, but I was not emotionally ready for all surgery and life after surgery bring. For me I think it was no accident that I was able to have surgery at this point in my life.
  4. Good luck all you soon to be sleevers! It is such a great tool, but the while afterwards is a lot of learning and questions. Keep posting you will have lots of cheerleaders and people who have been there too! Anna
  5. Welcome! How exciting that you are almost to the goal you want. Keep posting, those of us still on the journey love hearing from those of you who know what life is like on the other side. Anna

    Regrets?

I've had a few whiney days where I want to be able to wolf a burger, drink diet coke in MASS amounts. But I've had no days where I wish that I could only buy jeans in a fatty store, I don't miss being a 20 something and being told my cholestorol was outrageously high. I don't miss cringing when my boyfriend would touch my stomach when he hugged me. So I guess you get to weigh it, feel energetic, more attractive, and reduce your risk for almost every health calamity out there....or?

    Hello Buddies!

You all rock! This time is very exciting. Also somewhat frustrating. I struggled with my preop and wanted a burger and diet coke very much! Hang on and know that after you heal you really will be able to eat any food, just in smaller quantities. Our surgery is the only one that really allows that. Hang in there and know that there are lots of us here who are cheering for you! Anna
  8. Okay so I know that stretching with the sleeve is supposed to be minimal, but today for the first time I was able to eat most of a small wendy's chili in just about 10 minutes. I DO NOT want to screw this up. What is going on???

1/4 of the way to goal!

WOOOOT!!!! Good for you. And of course you can count your preop weight loss it all counts! Your goal is amazing, 50 pounds is amazing!!! Congrats.
  10. You rock! You have worked hard for every pound (I will never be able to exercise as much as you and your hubbie do.) Thanks for being a cheerleader to those of us who came along after you. 9 to go!!!!!!!!!

    Talk me down!

Okay, well that chili must have been a slider food OR as I've read many times restriction can vary from day to day. Today I ate much more slowly and had to pay attention to my signals and indeed I still have loads of restriction. Thanks for the encouragement and advice!

    the ordeal

Oh my goodness, what a scary time for you, I'm so glad to hear that thins are improving. Even for people who don't go through the trauma your body did gaining weight just post op is really normal. Please above all be patient with yourself and your body. The surgery itself is very traumatic, you just lost 80% of an organ. That is a biggie, then your recovery has been super difficult. Your body is going to hold on to everything it can for a bit, in an effort to ensure you survive. You will get there and lose weight almost inspite of yourself! Best of luck. Anna
  13. I had a spinal block and had some trouble getting the muscles below my waist to perk up so going pee was difficult for a while too. That and not drinking fluids! Good luck, soon enough this part will be a distant memory and you'll get the chance to move on to new challenges and learn a lot about yourself, all while shrinking your booty!

    Nsaids????

WOW!!!!!!! Tom you look amazing. Hadn't seen you post in a while. Thanks for following up on this question. And WOW you look great. Anna
  16. That really says it all. No matter how fat I got I've always had good hair, guess I will be thin and bald. Still wouldn't trade my sleeve for anything, even if it meant a totally bald head for the rest of my days!

    Bald Spot

Yup, I've done all the things that nutritionally are neccesary. And like clock work at 3 months it started. It really is not a biggie. (okay a little bit) But totally worth it.

  21. So this weekend I went to get a haircut from someone who had never cut my hair before. The odd scenario went something like this: Me:Just a heads up my hair is kind of falling out I recently had surgery. Her: What kind of surgery? (kind of a personal question I thought) Me:Weight loss surgery. Her:Oh, (looks me up and down) so is it working? Me:Yes, I've lost 80 pounds Her: Wow, how big were you before? Her:So is your skin going to get all weird? Her: (as she holds my hair up) Wow, look at how thin this is? My desire was to take her scissors and cut her (just a little) Guess I will be going back to my regular stylist.

    Changes in friends

I'm so sorry. My two best friends and I have been trying for years to lose weight to no avail. (that really isn't the only thing we have in common) one of my friends is getting the sleeve in 10 days, but my third friend can't afford it. We are very open and honest with each other and she says that it does make her sad and jealous. Maybe just some loving honesty is the way to go. I know that if I were on the flip side and wasn't able to get surgery but my friends were it would break my heart. And as two fat friends it is a bond and connection that no one else can understand. I'm so sorry.

    Just cut my hair lady!

Yeah tall and thin. But as Judge Judy says (I'm ashamed to admit that I love her.) Beauty fades, but dumb is forever.
