    Plane trip home

Teresa, PM is personal message, from you individual page on here. I am soooooo excited to know of someone else who will be there. I have been scouring the boards trying to find someone else. I am going on my own by choice, and my family is SUPER scared about that. Are you bringing anyone with you or are you coming on your own as well?

    March 2010 Sleevers

Hey all! I am getting sleeved March 25th with Dr. Aceves. I am so excited. Its been interesting as I get closer to see what things are causing anxiety in me, and how there are some BIG lessons I need to learn. I have to keep in perspective just how exciting it is to be so close to such a huge life change. I'm so excited. We're on our way. Go us!!!

    Bye Lucy.

Thanks. I had no idea that I could be so attached to a dog. My bf said if there is no puppy heaven, then for him it wouldn't be heaven so hopefully we'll get a good snuggle in someday.
  6. I am scheduled for surgery in June. I am trying to make a few simple changes in the meantime so that after surgery all the huge life changes won't seem quite so traumatic. I have a ridiculous addiction to diet coke. I drink as much as 144 oz per day. In fact two years ago I had to get an endoscopy because there were so many tummy problems and my dr gave me the option of either going on 6 different prescriptions or quitting diet coke. Anywho!!! Does anyone have advice about the best way to go about this or even some words of encouragement. Its silly, but my diet coke is VERY important to me. It is what I get when I feel like I need a pick me up or to reward myself and its become the activity of choice when I get together with girlfriends. Help!!!!

Day Two of liquids - headache

Oh good. I am on full liquids for two weeks and I'm only in the middle of day two. I am so hungry and wanna chew. And truthfully I'd kill a guy for a diet coke. Just today. Just make it today....it'll be comforting to know I'm walking in fully prepared, healthy liver, etc.
  8. Hey I read your message about preop liquid. I'm on day one, and hurting too. I am so low on calories, plus I'm having caffeine withdrawls, so I am exhausted. I hope you are doing okay. Isn't it cool to finally be on our way though? Good luck!

    Protein Drinks

    Protein Drinks

Just found out that GNC lets you buy protein shakes and if you hate em you can return em.

    Less than 24 Hours

Amazing! Its so good to hear that things are going pretty well. What a cool start to this journey. Good for you.
  12. Hey I have had a few icky Protein shake experiences as I am trying things. I found a lot of the best deals online, but then when stuff would get to me it was really hit or miss whether or not I liked it. But....I discovered that GNC lets you return things w/in thirty days with a receipt if you don't like it. So its a good place to try and sample and then if you like stuff buy cheaper online. Just wanted to share! Anna

    Scared to death!

You will be great. What an amazing gift to give yourself and your daughter. Our girls especially need to see that its okay for us to take care of ourselves and thats what you are about to do. This is risky, but the risk of staying obese wasn't just a possiblity that you'd develop health problems, with obesity its just a matter of when. You are eliminating that risk and giving yourself and your baby girl a chance at a long and healthy life together. Good luck! My surgery is two weeks from tommorrow I'll be watching for updates from you. Take care, Anna
  14. I am compulsively prepping for my surgery. I am being sleeved on 3/25 by Dr. Aceves and will be traveling alone, my worry is that on the airport days (which will be LONG) I need to be able to get my Protein in still. Any recommendations on powder packets I could get/where I can get them? I am only taking one bag and don't wanna take a giant tub of protein. Thank you, Anna
  15. If there are vitamin d defincies, remember that some of our vitamin d absorption comes from just 15 min a day being in the sun and I don't know if its the same for everyone, but my little Utah town has been gloomy and overcast for months.
  16. Sorry I am starting to get nervous/excited/obsessed! I am going to Dr. Aceves on my own to get sleeved on March 24th. Will anyone else be there during that time????

    Sleeve Tomorrow

Hope the hurts pass soon. Keep us posted!
  18. Still a pre op so take what I say w/ that in mind. I was a part of a biggest loser competition at my gym and worked w/ a trainer 5x a week for an hour then had to work out 7 days a week additionaly for an hour a time each. With all this my "weight loss" was only 18 lbs, but I lost almost 33 inches. And in the seminars we did w/ the lead trainer he said the thing that determines 70-80% of OVERALL HEALTH is what we put in our mouths. It wasn't even a statement about weight. It was about health and what a big percentage what we eat plays in it. food is only one component. We might not be able to get them all at once, but to be truly healthy which for me is the overall goal, we must exercise too.

    What a week!

AMAZING!!!!! Thanks so much for sharing.
  20. I'm still preop but the recommendations I've found are 70g protein daily and less than 30g carbs daily. Also, with exercise I had the pleasure of working with a trainer and one of the standouts is the concept that you have to "shock your system." When you first started walking your 40 min daily that was challenging to your muscles and body, but as you get better at it, you start to burn less calories than you once did, so its important to mix it up and try other types of exercise even if you only do something else a couple times per week and continue your walking. Good luck! You are really doing a great job. Can't weight to be losing with you.

    Low blood pressure issues

Sorry, the article mentioned that you may want to ask for an xray of your abdomen...good luck sweet lady!

    Low blood pressure issues

Tiff, I am so sorry, I know that you have experienced loads of difficulties. I looked up some info on your condition and found it interesting that one of the causes are the meds used post surgery. Low blood pressure is commonly caused by drugs such as: Alcohol Anti-anxiety medications Certain antidepressants Diuretics Heart medicines, including those used to treat high blood pressure and coronary heart disease Medications used for surgery Painkillers Is it possible that there is a bleed somewhere in your body from your surgery? Would it be possible to visit w/your surgeon? I'm so sorry that you have to change the food things too, I'm sure that will be scary emotionally after you've had so much success. You are in our thoughts and prayers, take care of yourself and let John take care of you. Anna

    Help! Need encouragement

obesity help also has a listing of all baritric surgeons w/ lots of patient comments on each, and unlike here negative comments don't get deleted.
  24. I'm preop too and have some of the same fears as you. I know that I am going to be a beast to be around for a few months and I'm telling my friends and bf to brace themselves. But, I can only imagine what it will feel like to have a body that matches who I am inside. I dream of being someone who enjoys riding the rollercoaster, instead of being afraid that the belt might not fasten (btw, that has happened to me, not pleasant!) I'd like to be able to have people tell me I'm pretty, not "you have a pretty face." And mostly it would be nice to have a body that feels my age, rather than like someone fifty years older than me. I have surgery a week after you, good luck with everything and keep posting, keep chatting with these wise ladies, and even though I'm not experienced I'd be happy to be a part of your cheering squad, or a place for you to vent. We can do this!!!!
