64 oz is a minimum guideline not just for post ops, but for people. One of the recommendations I was given by a nutritionist was to take your weight in half and drink that many oz per day. (I weigh 300 lbs and I should drink 150 oz daily.) I know that isn't a number I can even come close to (unless it is diet coke related :>) So I will manage with the 64 oz.

Four days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Four days. This is attainable and SOON. I can't wait. I have been packing my bags, doing laundry, cleaning. I am ready to rock this thing!

HELPPP!! plz .. pre-op confusion ..
wannalise replied to Dalal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not trying to give you recommendations, as I am just a preop myself, and your surgeon is the one who should do that. But, I would do some reading and consider some low carb/high protein. It really contributes to the health of your liver during surgery, making it less slimy. It has to be slid over when you get the surgery laproscopically and you don't want it to get knicked or be in the way. The surgery is already a lot for a body to cope with let alone any complications with a liver. Good luck! -
Is this really gonna work?

I know I've never met any of you, and probably never will, but I can't tell you just what a place you've made in my heart all ready. To know that people have done this, to know that people understand my hurts, my anxieties, and my failures. And to know that some of you have made it to the other side, and that some of you work your way every day to get there, I just want to say, thank you, thank you, thank you! -
I have to give a confession
wannalise replied to wwqueen31's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Carrie, I'm with you. I had the option of just doing a high protein diet not liquid. I had done really well on the liquid and then freaked out! I am supposed to have a week on high protein and now I am sucking at that too. I am scared. I only have five days now. I dunno if I should switch back and do the liquid (I lost 8 lbs) or what. I'm so scared I have messed up my liver. Yikes!!!! -

wannalise replied to Chancie's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Chancie, You are my hero lady!!! Sometimes when I see the success of others and I compare it to what I have to do and the thing that is always hard is that I have to lose soooooo much weight and I can't imagine being able to do it, but you are my role model!!!! Keep on loving life and know that you have been an inspiration. Thanks! -
They have reassured me that as long as you have the receipt you are good to go!

So this may be more than you wanna hear, but I am on week two of my liquid preop and I keep getting stomach cramps, then an URGENT need to use the restroom. Then obviously only liquids come out. I understand the liquid in and liquid out, but is it normal to have cramping and will this continue post op? Thanks, Anna
-
I chose the to do the liquid diet, because I was super nervous about complitcations with my liver, but Dr. Aceves only requires the low carb/high protein and after several days of success and then blowing it in the evenings, I am going to do the thing our surgeon wanted me to do. Hmmmmm guess they do know best. Thanks all!

Surgery in Mexico Aftercare?
wannalise replied to HEARTONMYSLEEVE's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have to be totally comfortable with your decision. Not all but some of the surgeons in MX provide an additional insurance for 500 that covers any complications. Its my only real worry about my upcoming surgery, not that complications will happen, but if they did they would bankrupt me. -
I get that kid at Christmas feeling. Everything is arranged and if there were a way I'd have the surgery RIGHT NOW!

None of us will be able to maintain things we don't enjoy. When we were kids none of as had any problem with playing. Find things that feel like play to you.

Oh Cooper's Mama I had no idea! My girl was a titch evil and thats part of what I dug about her. I have moments where I forget and go to call her, or feed her, or take her out. Didn't know the loss of a pet would hurt so much. I just keep saying my prayers and asking for peace and hoping there is someone on the other side who can enjoy a naughty dog as much as we did.

Okay, I was am doing 2 weeks preop liquid diet. I am freaking out. I have been going for 6 days and have done quite well. (I'm down 7 lbs as of yesterday.) Only right now all I can think of is eating a burger. Just one burger, oh and fries, and a diet coke. Okay focus, focus, focus!

I have a few questions as I get closer to my surgery next week. I am getting the surgery w/Dr. Aceves so especially those who know about his practices would be especially helpful: *Does he use drains? If so when do they come out? *Do I need to have an appointment at home to remove my stiches? * I have support group aftercare arranged, but what medical aftercare will I need to arrange? This is all so exciting/scary and having some more answers would really help. Thank you, Anna

My Username says it all!
wannalise replied to karaserene1985's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You need to do what you feel best about. I have chosen MX and was able to get a weight loss center here to do my aftercare, but my best friend is choosing to stay here in the states. This is your body and your future. Do all your homework, and then make a decision that feels best to you, be positive that you will have the best possible outcome, and know that as your Mom sees you change she will become more and more supportive, but this is yours. You can do it. -
I keep hearing that Dr. Campos is sleeved, what is his role?

Issue with surgeon's office... advice?
wannalise replied to achopp's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree. You are easy to ignore via phone calls, but I'd go and camp myself there until you had some sort of resolution, even if it were merely to file a complaint about the insurance coordinator. Best of luck.
