    Have any of you tried PB2 and if so what did you think? I'm intrigued by it but don't wanna spend a bunch of money. I already have a pantry full of failed protein experiments!

    eating

    Today is my first mushie day and with the super small portions I am not going to get my protein. I think I'm either going to have to add a protein shake or double shot my AM shake, otherwise my sutures are going to heal so slowly and I will be dragging my sorry butt around.

    Why am I stuffing my face??

    Just seconding what Tiff said. I came to her in a panic about the same issue and I used the phrase, "but I'll never be able to eat (insert faves here) again." She called me on that one quickly, I am still in mushie phase and am so protective of my new sleeve that I haven't cheated at all. But pre op I really struggled. One thing I would remember is anything you gain now, will put you that much further from your ultimate goal. I also put a picture of a liver retractor on my computer as the screen saver to remind me what my short term goal was, a healthy surgical outcome. Good luck, you really can do this.
  6. Thanks Lee! Your posts always mean a lot to me, I'm sorry the journey hasn't been what you planned, but atleast you are always headed in the right direction. I actually decided I couldn't have access to the scale so I had my friend hide the scale and I am just gonna weigh at the first of every month! Lets see if I can handle it.     March 2010 Sleevers

    Today is my first full day of mushies/soft foods. I made scrambled eggs from egg beaters and put a little cheese in them, but I could only eat about 4 bites. I also pureed a small amount of wendy's chili and I'm sure if you asked me this in any other time in my life I'd have thought it was disgusting, but it was very nice to eat something other than a protein shake! I also just pureed some tuna with a little garlic mayo and a pickle. Not too shabby, but only got in a few bites. Good luck!
  8. Hey Theresa, I just ate my first "mushie" I pureed 2 oz of wendy's chili down to nothing. I ate about half of it and can eat no more. Sorry the cottage cheese didn't do it for you. I'll try that tomorrow.

  10. So...it really hasn't all begun yet. I am on the full liquid diet still. I still feel like a patient. I have been unwilling to cheat because I read about leaks and feeding tubes and medical bills and I can't do ANY of that if I can avoid it. But, I am now a few days away from mushies and I have made a menu plan, but its that next phase. I am scared! I want to succeed. I want this to be the time that I learn how to treat my body well and then after I learn it, I want to be able to do it over the long haul. The surgeon talked about the different ways people eat around their sleeve and I don't want to be one of those people. I know it all comes down to choices, but just going on track records, when it comes to making the right choices for my body I have never done it before. Why will this be different?

    Leak?

    Okay I hope you all tell me I'm just paranoid and we can laugh about it okay? I still have a burning sensation as I swallow, even when I am trying to do small sips, am I still sipping too much, what does a leak actually feel like. I have been experiencing some discomfort, I wouldn't say pain, in my stomach. Paranoid? What does a leak actually feel like?

    Thank you my friends! I actually am on so much medicine because of my seizure meds and supplements that I hadn't started the antacid yet, if that will help though I am gonna jump on it now!

    Oh Lee I wish I had known you liked those. I just got rid of a bottle of those calcium lozenges from b.a. I could not stomach those! I actually had to switch to a couple calcium a day. I have a question about the spacing. I am supposed to take 2 multi's a day. Should I space those out as well or do you think I'm okay taking them together for absorbtion.

  19. I could be wrong, but there are some people who are just comfortable with who we are and changes to us are threatening. I am only a few days post op but I had a friend want to hang out with me TONS before surgery and she finally said "its because our friendship will never be the same." As long as you being healthy and following the advice of your medical posse then screw everyone else.
  20. It is a huge alteration to your body, even if all goes well. If you don't feel comfortable sharing with your pcp maybe shop around for a physician you are comfortable with. I was nervous too and pleasantly surprised when my doctor said I am certainly not her first patient to get the surgery out of the country.
  21. I wish this didn't have to be ugly. I just wanted to thank all of you who have shared the variety of experiences you've had. It helped me make the decision of where I was comfortable and what matters most is that we are able to make decisions we feel good with. I don't have a personal vendetta against any physician and can only speak to the experience I personally had.

    Quick i need info

    This is the time when you just do. Do your preop and when you struggle come here, do your surgery and rely fully on your surgeon and his staff, and then do your post op diets. It is hard! But nothing shuts people up who don't support you quicker than results. I had lots of criticism and I went out of my way to tell very few people, but after surgery there really isn't much left for people to say. Its a done deal and fail or succeed it is all YOURS. No one else can claim your victories or your slips. Just you and you will be amazing!
  23. Gherlin the hormone that causes hunger stays in our bodies for a while after surgery. And I think the cramping and loose stools are just a part of the joy of a liquid only diet. I would double check with my surgeon about how they want you to handle an unhappy tummy. Best of luck!
  24. I think some of that inital stuff is swelling. I doubt you could have stretched your tummy out much just yet!
  25. I have a question for those of you a ways out. How soon before you were able to start meeting the protein, water, and carb requirements? I am not getting close on the protein or water (about half on each) and today I drank gatorade which is a carb festival. I am also still way under on calories, I just don't wanna get a bad start on things. Reassurance?
