    whats going on

I was really swollen for 3 weeks. And you will have that swelling inside for a long time too. Don't forget how traumatic this all was to your body and that your body will hang onto weight for a little while because it is ensuring that you are okay. Put the scale away lady! The swelling the weight all normal. Just try to relax.

    overeaters anonymous

It is a very good program. It is based on the same 12 steps that AA and other meetings are based upon. They don't charge a fee, but donations are recommended as they usually have to pay the location where they are and they give you literature. When I attended OA, it was with a group that was newly formed and there was no one there that would have been considered "in recovery" yet so it was like attending an alcoholics anonymous meeting where everyone is drunk. I would say go to a couple meetings and see if it is for you. You have to be humble about it and be willing to share who you are, etc. Whether it is OA or another support group, I think anything that helps you address the reasons WHY you developed such an unhealthy relationship with food rather than just the food and exercise bits, it can only bring you good things!
  3. My favorite lately has been: 1/4 of a Mission carb balance tortillia 1/2 ounce sharp cheddar cheese 1 ounce extra lean ground turkey seasoned w/taco seasoning 1/8c. greek yogurt salsa It is really good! Honest to goodness. You can google several different wls bloggers out there who have been great about posting their favorite recipes and may give you some new ideas. My fave is theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com I am finding that many of my favorite foods can be modified to fit into my new lifestyle. Make a list of your favorite things and maybe we could problem solve ways to make them fit into your life? Good luck!!!!
  4. I am so glad that the vomiting has stopped for you! It is the worst. How are you adjusting to everything else? The weight looks like it is just falling off of you! How exciting is this?????

    Calling out to Tiffykins..

I'm not Tiff, and don't have near the aresnal of info that she does, but I do have quite a bit of information about Dr. Aceves, and would be more than happy to talk with your family about my experiences there. My family and bf were so against it, but I trusted all the research I had done and went for it, well when I was there I had a difficult holding down fluids, something pretty simple really but they kept me an extra night and didn't charge me for it, and took EXCELLENT care of me. I'm a fan. Good luck with your decision.

    No appetite at all.....

I dunno if you are ladies that went through morning sickness or not, but at that point even when food is awful you power through because you want your bambino to be healthy, do your best to power through with this too. Give yourself a plan and times you'll eat and even if it isn't the bliss it once was fuel that body of yours up and keep getting healthy!

    whats going on

Just reiterating what Tiff said, the saline seems to stay in your body for a little while and then there is BAM a magic day, when I came home and was feeling uber sick my Mom was staying with me and could tell I was disappointed and after a few days got out my scale and it was a dramatic and sudden change. It really will happen.

    Grocery bills

I have a question for you then! I am finding that I don't want quite so much of my Protein sources to come from meat, I'd like some variety, and if there are protein sources out there that would also offer some Fiber I would feel really good about that. I have some concern about what a super high protein diet can do to your digestion and I don't wanna go through all this work and then have put myself at risk for colon cancer or some other horrible disease! Anywhoo. If you have any suggestions of high protein foods (I still watch my carbs VERY closely though) that aren't meat based would you let me know? Thanks!!!!
  9. If you need a sweet fix that will slide down, I found that if I do 1/2 c of greek yogurt and blend it with the seadless spreadable fruit (its sugar free jelly) and it tastes super yummy and goes down well, and then you can hit your Protein needs more easily. The soft food stage was the hardest for me by far! Best of luck.

    Clear Liquids Only Stage?

Okay! I would feel good not wasting it. PM me your address. I'm glad if it works for you that is a quick way to get your protein needs!
  14. You ROCK!!!!!!!!! Sixty lbs in three months? I can't even wrap my head around that. I am so impressed. It is great that you and your hubby have been able to exercise and have that bond post op, otherwise this can end up feeling like you are all on your own. The drinking thing has been my biggest frustration too! I wake up some days and would just kill to guzzle some cold Water. Lots and lots of it! Thanks for sharing about your journey and about all your victories, I looked at your pics too, and fat girl me looked right at your knees in your after pictures, and guess what YOU HAVE KNEES!!! And ankles. These are things I aspire to have! Great job in being so disciplined and getting this done.
  15. You almost made me tear up! Yay!!!! I am glad that your are reaching out and trying the things that work for you, and that will bring you success. There is a lot of learning to be done, but knowing that each day you can learn a little bit better how to be successful is comforting to me. I don't know if it would help you, but in the baby supply isle at walmart they have these smaller tupperware type containers called take and toss, and they fit 2 oz of whatever really well, so when you do have to take food with you and you open that lid it doesn't feel like you are looking in and seeing an empty containter! Those helped me and then when I made ground turkey I was able to divy it up into several containers. Thanks for sharing your updates!
  16. So, preop I was wearing Old Navy size 26w and now I got to buy some thrift store lane bryant pants and they are a 5???? What does that translate to in old lane bryant sizing? Thanks! Anna
  17. Wow! It helps a lot, I think I am in smaller pants than I realized YAHOOO!!!!! Thank you so much.
  18. Wow. I am so sorry. You are in my thoughts.
  19. I just read your post my dear I was right there with you. And things didn't start to feel really great until 2.5-3 weeks out for me, I was super tired, couldn't drink, and threw up every day. The reason I tell you this is...I kept getting on the boards and reading about people saying what an easy surgery this was and how great they felt. I started to get angry at the situation and myself that things weren't going better for me. But please, hang in there. It is just really gonna suck for a while. You just lost 85% of a MAJOR organ. Then to top it off the things that make us heal like protein and hydration are really difficult to get in, but you will! I know you will. Get through these first few weeks and just treat it like you are still a patient. Follow the rules to the letter, think of those sutures inside of you, and you will get through. Do everything you can to get fluids in and please continue to reach out if you need support. It really does get better.

  20. Yeah there were a few of us after this post who posted elsewhere about getting what felt like hot flashes and violent nausea, I am super not a fan! I have tons of em in and on my fridge though. If you want em let me know and I'll send them your way.
  21. I am so heartbroken to hear about your leak, I know that is the greatest fear we all have. I hope you have a great medical team taking care of your needs. What do they have in store for you? I have heard a few different ways leaks are handled and they all seem very rough! I am so very sorry. Please know that if you are hating life or having a rough day, I won't fully understand, but I will listen. Hang in there. Anna

    High protein preop diet

Greek yogurt is WAY thicker than regular and has a bite to it. Almost like sour cream. I have been talking and purusing though and have several recipes from people on these forums as well as from a NUT friend and I am pretty optimisic about its use. It can be yummy and especially post op when swallowing can be difficult it helps to have something super creamy. Today i ate 1/4 of a taco w/ extra lean ground turkey, half an ounce of cheddar, 1/4 of a low carb tortillia and then greek yogurt and salsa and it was delicious! I am a huge Mexican food buff and this fit the bill.

    6 Week Update

Hey miss! I was wondering how you were earlier today its exciting to see that you've posted. Hang in there miss. There are days that it does get super frustrating because it feels like all you do in the wide world is focus on this sleeve and what you are supposed to do, there are some days that I feel like I should just wake up at goal. Then I have to remind myself that it took years to get here, I'm really fortunate that it won't take as long to get rid of it, but lady we are getting rid of it!

    Clear Liquids Only Stage?

No need to apologize! This is a rough learning curve and sometimes the only way to learn is trial and error. You are lucky they were returnable. I have tons of em in and on my fridge that I have no idea what to do with.

Thats so funny. Not a food I typically crave and I wanted one badly too. May be your bodies way of telling you to hit the protein hard!
