    Nature's Best Isopure Protein Drinks

I couldn't do them either. If you like them though they are really a good protein source and its nice to have something premade. I stupidly ordered 24 bottles online preop and did okay with the taste, figured I could choke it down, but post op I drank about 3 sips of one and gave the rest to a friend. I just couldn't do it.
  2. The recovery is so different for all of us. I hear some people talk about pain meds and I didn't bring any pain medication home with me and the one time I experienced pain was when I slept on my stomach my first night home. So, if you end up with any, all, or none of the things everyone experiences they are all really bearable. This is so worthwhile. I wouldn't trade it for anything.
  3. One thing that I did pre op and wish I'd done post op, was get egg drop soup from my fave Chinese restraunt and strain it. Maybe that would be a new change to the boring icky broth.
  4. I always throw up when I'm sick of any kind. Its just how I've always been. If you are prone to nausea just be sure to request a presciption for phenegren or other anti nausea. I was also told by my surgeon that if you do vomit in the first little while it can be very irritating to the stomach and you need to not eat for several hours. Good luck! I think you'll be great.

    hot wing puree

Funny what we're willing to eat on puree! The hot sauce would have killed my tummy at that point. I'm super glad you found something that hit the spot.
  6. Oh! That was dumb of me. Wait until they are all the way healed. Swimming pool and wounds is a horrible idea! But in a couple of weeks you swim girl!!!
  7. Do you like swimming. Its a good way to get in some of that resistance without putting a lot of impact on your body. And if you are hiking and walking you really are doing great! It feels good when you don't have to keep feeling like a patient and you get to feel like you are really doing the work you need to in order to change your body.
  8. I don't think you are supposed to do any of the lifting weight baring stuff until after 6 weeks. I know I wasn't supposed to do anything ab related until a month out.

    Favorite Home soft food.

Depends on your particular rules, for some this doesn't count as a mushie, but I would make egg beaters scrambled eggs (only like 1/4 c) w about 1/4 of cottage cheese cooked in and then they were super soft and went down easily and had lots of protein.

    Yikes!

Yup, I really am. I am trying really hard to start incorporating some serious exercise. For now I just really want to get down to 50 lbs and we are both super close! I bet we could be there in the next two weeks. How amazing is that?!?!?!?
  11. Yup. I have an egg timer that I take w/ me more to remember to drink often enough. I am still not totally great at the 2 minute bites between meals, but I'm getting better!

    One Year ago today!

Daisy I am so thrilled for you!!! What a lot to accomplish in a year. Thanks for cheering me on both preop and now. It means a lot to me! Wow, I can't imagine being down 100 lbs in a year, I am going to be dilligent and hopefully soon enough I'll be on your heals!

    Yikes!

Wow! Your surgery was just the day before mine. Is all your weight loss post op or does that include the preop stuff too? Have you experienced any slow downs the last couple weeks?

    Wiping

You will be fine! And conveniently much less need for wiping post op!

    My last Ladies' Night!!!

Angie, Enjoy!!! I am so excited for you. Its tricky those people who love us, but don't understand. I don't know how to change that. We get you!!!
  17. Hi Christy! I love when I get to see people who started the same time as me. I have felt like weight loss the past two weeks has been in a holding pattern for me as well. Not a gain or even a maintence but only about 2-3 lbs total in these two weeks. Its weird, but fits right in with what everyone says about the 3 week mark. I am hoping i jumps back soon. I feel so good that I'm not stressing too much! Thanks for friending me.

  18. I'm glad you have stuff! As I've gained weight over the last few years I have given all of my old clothes so I got to this place where I've been living in yoga pants and then just a couple pairs of jeans. I was finally able to order a few new pairs of pants and a couple skirts, its fun to feel like a girl again!

  19. This is a good one!!!! It will save you a lot of discomfort post op I promise!
  20. I'm glad today was better! I need to buck up and do tea, I really have never enjoyed it, but I think it would make my tummy happier in the AM.

    Skin reaction

I was allergic to one of the tapes I used when I got home too. I had to wash the area really well using sterile gauze and then switching adhesives. I also used neosporin on the irritated skin (not the incision itself.)
  23. Wow!!! You are getting close to a month out. How is the world feeling now? I hope you are adjusting well and that your body is doing just what you need it to!

    New and different case

Jillian, I am scared for you. I thought about this post a few times today, any surgeon that operated on you would be doing you a huge disservice. Please oh please do much more homework before you make this decision. As happy many people post op are this is so life altering. And you won't be able to go back. I would be so sad for you to do something irreperable to your body if it weren't necessary. Please be very careful.
  25. Pain at least for me has not remained. There is definite discomfort if things go down wrong, but it isn't what makes my choices. That sounds different than I mean, I am not saying I have had some HUGE emotional change yet, I haven't. But, those times when I need to be done eating aren't generally painful anymore. I've started to be able to catch my cues a little quicker and avoid that much discomfort, just a little bit of tightness sometimes. And for me this change has only happened in the last week. Go easy on yourself though. Your stomach will have internal swelling for atleast a couple more weeks. Sometimes putting stuff in there is unpleasant. Loads of people (my surgeon included) really encourage you to try a hot/warm herbal tea in the morning. I don't know what your immediate post op diet is, but I had to kind of chill out about calories and carbs (and I did not want to) in order to stay hydrated. I had to do a few gatorades the first couple weeks, and then Protein shakes made w/water always went down easier for me. A lot of people also say that they take in fluids better at room temp instead of cold. Wow!!! I have been rambling, I guess the jist is this. You will need to do some trial and error (within the guidelines you've been given) and make friends with your sleeve. Figure out what does and doesn't work for your body. Good luck!
