    Energy level???

I don't know what he checked, but an especially common deficiency just after winter is vitamin d. Especially if you are eating less cholestorol. I would ask what specifically your dr. checked.

  3. I have a couple pair of Old Navy 26 jeans. They aren't working for me anymore but if anyone else could use them let me know and I'd be HAPPY to send them your way!
  4. Trish! That means we had to have been there at the same time. How funny! I hope your doctor finds a way to help you feel better. Good luck.

PM your address to me okay? I will send them your way!
  6. Hydration would be my best guess. I have gone from drinking 200 oz of fluid daily preop to struggling to hit my 64oz. I have to pay close attention to the color of my urine, it should be very diluted almost looking like water and I have days where it is dark yellow and I have to really up my fluids those days. Good luck!
  7. I probably misspoke. I don't think there is any medical reason why you can't lay on your side, it is just uncomfortable.
  8. I couldn't sleep on my left side because that is the side that my drain had been on and it didn't hurt to lay on it, but if I slept on it for a few hours I would wake up and because the blood had pooled it was super sore. I could easily put pillows around me and sleep on my right side. Hope that helps!

9-15 May - Pledge your Points!

Bad at math and exercise, what a rough day! You are right mini, I want 10 points. Thank you lady!!!
  10. I had to go at it pretty slow. I am almost 6 weeks out and still am pretty careful. I do 2 protein shakes a day and then 3 soft meals, the greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and I did really well with scrambled eggs mixed with cottage cheese because they are super soft. It is crazy how different food goes down then liquids. Please just listen to your body and if it isn't ready for something hang on. You will get there. Also, my sleeve is different on different days. Some days things go down easily and some days my body is just more into liquids. Good luck and take it slow!

9-15 May - Pledge your Points!

Okay, Yikes! Well I am going to pledge 20 minutes of exercise every day including today so I will pledge to get 100 points. I am pretty sure I can do this. Thanks for the encouragement Mini and Booklean.
  12. How amazing that in such a short time your body has already made big transformations (c-pap) it is a really exciting thing to me to know that even though I made lots of mistakes with my health that bodies are forgiving and that I can have a happy healthy life. Thanks for the updates, its good to hear how you are doing!
  13. I kind of went back and forth with that. At about a week I was pretty okay with smells, but there were days that I would crave crazy foods like a taco or a hot dog, but then when I smelled the foods my family was eating I wanted to lose it. Good luck! Are you going to do support groups w/Dr. Cottams office. I am a part of those and would love to meet you!

    Leak Repair?

Please PM tiffykins about this. She can give you some excellent advice about how to best advocate for your wife because she has been there. The treatment she is getting sounds much different than what I have heard them do for others with leaks. Good luck. I am so sorry to hear that your wife is having to go through this.
  15. It wasn't because of any of my physical needs that I liked having people around, but for my emotional and mental needs. It was good to talk about my feelings and know that I could get through the rough few days. I was in no pain, but did have some nausea and it was nice to have a Mom who was willing to run get me a variety of popsicles.
  16. It kind of depends on your surgeon. Some people get the advice that as long as it is about the size of an m&m you can swallow it no prob. My surgeon likes people to crush until 3 months, but I couldn't pull it off and finally called and they cleared me at 1 month. I take chewable (bariatric advantage) multis, I know lortab comes in a liquid, I used to take melatonin and you should be okay with that size pill, but like I said, I would check with your surgeon/pharmacist. Good luck!
  17. Well, tomorrow is a month out for me. I had a really rough start. The first two weeks were just me getting sick, the third week has been a gradual improvement. And now I feel like I am finally on my way. In hindsight there are a few things that were very specific to me that I wish I had known, and I appreciate all of you for educating me: During those first few weeks I felt more like a patient still, not someone who was headed in the direction of life change. I felt almost guilty considering my weight loss as an accomplishment, because I was throwing up all the time, not hydrated, and getting 200 calories a day max. It felt like saying thanks for a compliment after getting the flu. I think even if you are worried that you are naggy or annoying to them you need to call or email your surgeon anytime you feel unsure of what is happening. This is a risky time period and most medical offices are happier to answer questions, then deal with complications. I wish that I would have started exercising immediately. I know that I didn't feel well and wasn't super hydrated, but the mind set of knowing that you are moving just for the sake of your health does a lot for you mentally. I wish that even on the roughest days I would have atleast walked around the block once. Don't be ashamed about what this does to you emotionally. And parts of it can be a rollercoaster ride. The day that I finally came home I spent eight hours of that day pacing my hallway and took 5 hot showers in the hopes that they would relax me. I was incredibly anxious in a way I had never experienced. I was super blessed that my PCP called in an anti anxiety for me. I only had to take it three times, but in hindsight and after doing a little homework I realized: I had been having my period, was on super high doses of reglan which are known to cause severe anxiety, and still had anisthesia medication in my body. Do your best to follow all the guidelines of your surgeon and to take care of yourself, but use this board as a support, not as a means to compare your progress to others. I was so frustrated that when others were starting to work out hard core I was getting out of bed for work, then coming home, putting my jammies on and falling asleep again. I had to realize that our bodies all cope with trauma differently and it wasn't a character weakness on my part that my body needed more to recover. And today I can finally say what I have read others say, I am feeling good. I am still learning so much. I have to measure my food because I am horrible at eyeballing it, I have to set timers so I remember to drink enough fluids. And as I track my nutrition I have realized that I am far better nourished at 600-800 calories I day then I was with my daily Wendy's fix. Thanks to all of you for answering my millions of questions and for dealing with all of my frustrations. Your support has been invaluable!

What are you doing to get moving today?

Cool! I need something. I keep planning and I keep meaning well, but lack the motivation and I really want to get in a good exercise habit, I know it is vital for my long term success. YIKES!

    pureed/mushey food options

I did that same thing with a Wendy's chili when I was on that phase, I was obsessed about Wendy's chili for some reason and now that I could actually have it I'm not interested at all.
  20. Foxy lady!!!! Your face is so thin. How exciting. Was just wondering how you've been. Hope things continue to go well for you on this crazy adventure.

    32,000 feet high and ready!

I did give Ernesto a hug. That must count for something! Good luck Miss Angie!
  22. This is tricky advice when you are trying to stay hydrated, but in my surgeons instructions he said that if you are vomiting you need to wait 6 hours before consuming anything else liquid or otherwise, because your tummy is so irritated and you need to leave it alone. In the first little while my stomach changed all the time in what I could and couldn't consume liquid wise. I am so sorry you've had such a rough start.

    Not Happy.

I hope I didn't offend you, I meant what I said as advice because you seemed frustrated. I can only speak for myself but my intentions where only to be helpful, but I assume that is what most people on the boards mean. Good luck.
