1 am rambling: nightime reflux/Carafate
wannalise replied to ouroborous's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its priolsec. And I hope this is not a forever thing too. Acid reflux is awful, but it beats diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. Good luck friend! -
Tee hee! I am excited I just found copies on ebay of hip hop abs. If I can dance and be tricked into exercise I am in!
-
This really is a great tool, you can do it with the sleeve, healthful eating, exercise, and some sort of support (even just these boards.) You will be great. I think adding another thing would jeopardize your ability to be nourished. Good luck!

I admit that this is gonna open up just how deep my food issues are! I miss my routines. I had rituals everyday and the first three weeks post op I was lost without them. For example I would wake up and pick up my first client of the day and there is a drive thru at a gas station that everyone knows my name and knows my car and as I pulled in they had a 44 oz diet coke ready for me. I did this 4 more times during the day and had a yummy mexican lunch or wendy's a couple times per week. I had no idea how much of my time was wrapped around getting and eating food.

Constipation?
wannalise replied to shezaditz@bellsouth.net's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It took me quite a while for things to get normal, but (here is a giant TMI session) preop I drank tons of diet coke and had diareha everyday because of it, now I am having a small BM about every other day. I have had to be creative about finding ways to implement fruits and veggies into my daily intake. -
We adopted a mini schnauzer from a rescue a couple weeks ago, he loves walks and if mentally I can make my focus on helping him be healthy and taking my clients (I work with adults with disabilities) swimming to help them with their goals I can make it less about my weight loss. At this point if I could build a habit I'd be so pleased! I used to really love exercising.

Whooop! I am a Utah State Aggie, got to love it Angie!!! I am so impressed with how hard you are working and how positive you've been. Go you!!!! -
Champ, Things sound so much more positive. I am glad to hear that you are moving in a better direction. I hope things continue to go well. Take this as a time to realize just how much you love that wife of yours. What a blessing to know that. Let her know that there is a legion of fellow sleevers here thinking and praying for the both of you!

Don't get too discouraged. Keep working closely with your doctor and you will find some comfort. I had to start taking my ppi both am and pm and it has helped very much. Good luck! -
I am right with you, the weight loss has slowed down for a bit, but just think a true stall is NO weight loss for a 14 day period. I need to throw some more exercise in the mix to shock the system a bit. Just look at those tickers! That is still a lot of weight lost in a 2 month time period. Go us!

blender, food processor, whatever...
wannalise replied to erh92's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use the one above as well and I use it probably every other day and I'm not longer on mushy phase. It works well during mushy because you don't need anything bigger and its all dishwasher safe. Now I use it to make things like spinach blended into ricotta for recipes, I think its great! -
Okay, I am ready to have a better go at this. My goal is to get 18 points this week. I intend to walk my dog twice per day. I am also implementing swimming activies with my clients so hopefully that will help too!
-
I'm trying to be positive, but I only walked one day this week. I got a new dog who needs walks a couple times per day. I am hoping to use him as my motivation this upcoming week.

I use the health tracker on OH. My brother is obsessed with lose it 2.2 as an iphone app available on itunes. Its free. -
Its not so much that you are giving God credit for what you do, it is just an acknowledgement that your addiciton to food is greater than what you can overcome on your own. I've seen twelve step programs work really well for some people, and others find that they need to take their journey in a different direction. I think if you are always seeking to understand yourself and your motivations and make this a positive learning experience then you'll be golden. Its essentially a support group and you've got loads of support right here!

Surgery Monday-Scared to death
wannalise replied to JillianMarie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Um, there are several people who have. There are threads about him and if you search the upper right hand corner it should give you some links to him. -
Not everyone does the low carb thing, I think that if you get your protein in first and make good choices beyond that you will do just fine.

Caution for using PPI's

Okay so I hated my calcium pills and started taking tums as my calcium. Oops! -
Rachel, I am so thrilled for you. Be uber patient with yourself and your body for the next couple weeks, you will get it my dear. Keep us posted and if you are struggling the people on these boards will understand like no one else. Congrats!
-
I am a tender tummied person, but I take the chewable bariatric advantage iron pills. I love them (they taste yummy) and I have had no issues with them causing any nausea.

All twelve step plans do have a component of God or a higher power, but that needs to be what you identify it as. That can be a God if you choose, that can be the Universe that is bigger or grander than you, I have even heard of people giving their "will" over to a McDonald's happy meal box. A lot of it is easier to do if you can find someone who has found success with the twelve steps and who would be willing to do step work with you. It is an excellent program and can work for those who have no belief in a God, but who recognize that there are things bigger than they are.
