    30 plus days in hospital

Dee Dee, I am so sorry. Please know that you have tons of love and support via these forums. I can't imagine how emotionally exhausting almost a month in the hospital would be. I will be thinking of you and hope that your doctors and your body are able to get things healed and you will be able to feel better very soon. Keep posting if you need to vent and need some support! We're here.

    strawberries

You'll be okay. I totally didn't think about it and did the same thing and then was sure there were seeds in there. You will be just fine. Its wise that you continue to be super careful about your food choices.

    strawberries

There is some concern that the seeds can get caught in your suture line.
  5. I too believe that we should be able to voice the good and bad about a particular place, but I think it is important to do so in a way that doesn't imply that those who did or are going there are stupid. They deserve a place to go to for support as much as any of us.

  8. Okay, so its getting boring on liquid phase! I found this and wanted to share. Hope it helps!!!! Pimp My Protein Shake: Protein shake recipes:drool5:
  9. Sassie, I hope they are able to do the things necessary to make you well. I can't imagine how frustrating. Did you end up going with Cottam or Richards? My friend is trying to decide between the two but Richards told her (this was a few months ago) that she hadn't done sleeves yet so Cottam would be there to oversee her work and this really scared her. Hope all improves very soon.

    RUN! My bubble bursted.

I am so glad you had a better experience today. You deserve to feel respected and listened to. I'll cross my fingers for you and hopefully you will be on your way to a sleeve really soon!

    It's Been a Rough Day

My first couple weeks post op where really difficult. Different issues than you are having, but none the less frustrating. At six weeks out, I really do feel so good. Its super fun right now and you'll get here. A week ago I was walking a decent distance which used to hurt my feet (fractured them in the past d/t weight) and I realized my feet felt no pain at all. You really are gonna make it, you are going to have little victories that outweigh these difficulties. Keep posting and vent as you need. Hopefully you will find the right mix of meds, and other treatments. Hang in there!
  12. I know that my appetite has not gone away entirely post op and I am really careful to avoid caffeine because it stimulates the little appetite I already have and with such a small tummy its uber frustrating to be super hungry so on the hunger thing alone I wouldn't want to add something that made me more hungry. Good luck!

    Whiney....need advice

I know that isopure has a lot of protein, but the quantity of it that you have to drink to get your 40g is the same or more than you could do in 2 regular protein shakes. Early on I would do double dose protein shakes, 8 oz water, and 2 scoops of protein so I only had to drink a cup of liquid to get in 40g of protein. I tried the unjury strawberry sorbet and it tastes sort of like strawberry jello that is not thickened. You can count your protein shakes towards your 60 oz of fluid daily. Also, I bought some unflavored protein and I have a 64 oz bottle (its just an empty apple juice container nothing too classy) and I will fill it with crystal light and then add the unflavored protein. You are in what I thought was the toughest part. All you can do is your best. You will get there my dear!
  14. I needed two weeks but was only able to take one. My fatigue level was through the roof and I am a caregiver and I really had to push myself. It was difficult for me emotionally to ensure that others needs were met when I didn't have enough energy to even take care of myself.
  15. I hope your husband is doing better. I am so sorry, I would have been terrified to have my fella bleeding all night. He is very lucky that you were there to advocate for him.

    Target Calories?

You can use a similar principle with exercise where you do your typical routine daily and then a few days a week "shock your system" and do things that are more difficult.
  17. Well don't be afraid to aim high either with your goals. I went to the shrink for my preop appointment and said I'd be happy if I got down to 200 lbs and she said that lots of people who are obese can't envision themselves at lower weights or have struggled with dieting for so long that they won't set too big of goals, I am sure you can get to a size 14 or 12, but if its what you really want, I bet you could do a 10 too. Good luck!
  18. Linda,

I am so glad to hear that you are doing better. You have had lots of thoughts and prayers sent your way from people on this board. I hope your body keeps healing well!

  19. Hey Lis, I got a friend a book called women God and food and she and I have been talking about it all of today. It sounds like an in depth application of the twelve steps and I am anxious to read it and just wanted to let you know it sounds like its right up your alley!

    It's Been a Rough Day

Super great that you are listening to your body and tweaking what you can. I did not and still don't do great with mashed potatoes. It is like they become lodged and that feeling is like internal claustrophobia mixed with pain! I hate it. I don't know if this is universal advice but my surgeon talked about any time your sleeve becomes irritated (ex through vomiting) that you should really step back for 6-12 hours and just drink fluids until the inflamation goes down. I don't know if that is a possiblity but it may help things feel a little better. Keep posting and good luck! Sorry its been a rough one.

    T minus 2 and counting

You are gonna be great. The first couple weeks are lots of trial and error. Be patient with yourself, as you can see even from these few answers we all handle everything differently. You will find your groove though and then life feels pretty awesome! Good luck to you!!!!
  22. Love your posts and think you are grand! Hope all is well with you.

    Confession Time

My mom has been married to my step dad for 28 years (since I was two) he has joined a group that he has sex with different members ans been sneaking around on her for years. She discovered this initally a year ago after contracting an STD from him. He said he stopped and they worked on their relationship and she discovered that (obviously) he is still up to his old nasty tricks. My mom is the best person I know. My friends all joke that they wish she was their mom. I want to just kidnap her and I wish there were a way to make it right for her. She is giving (to a fault) and deserves the best life has to offer, instead she is raising my nephew, taking care of my grandmother, and dealing with this crap. This breaks my heart.
