    8 ounces in an hour?

I'm not meaning to say this just to be contrary, but you can't just go on your comfort level. I think that its important to do all you can to follow the guidelines given by your NUT or surgeon about what you consume. Especially early out the signals feel really unrecognizable. Being full and being hungry feel different then they do preop and I was someone who really liked to get super full, and have had to learn to stop not when I am full but the bite or two before that. You'll get it, I promise, but listen carefully to your body. I used to sit a timer next to me and every fifteen minutes I would take a drink it really helped me. Best of luck!
  2. Well here I am at two months. I continue to learn new things every day. I reached my first goal of 50 pounds and am thrilled by the weight loss I've had so far. I am also enjoying a few NSV's *My feet don't hurt when I walk *I went up three flights of stairs and it wasn't very overwhelming (hee hee) *Pre op I used to have horrible stomach issues (really uncomfortable diarehha every single day) and I was totally used to it and just figured it was a part of my life. Now I don't feel like that at all. I am also learning new things all the time. I am learning to trust myself, in the past I have started so many diets and even as I began them knew that I wouldn't be successful. I am starting to believe in my ability. I am learning to question my triggers for certain foods. I have been wonderfully supported by my boyfriend and friends who are willing to talk it through with me if I don't understand my own motivations. I feel so blessed to be headed in the right direction. I know that I have so much more work to do physically, mentally, and spiritually to be at the place I want to be, but I'm pretty sure that is what life is supposed to be about. Thank you so much for being a support to me, answering my questions, and being a soft place to land. I appreciate you all so much! Anna

    Complications

It really depends on how your recovery goes. I didn't have any complications, but had severe nausea and vomiting, which led to some dehydration til about 2-2.5 weeks out. I would not have been in shape for my big day. Good luck!

    Yea!

Awesome!!!! It is so fun to feel such big changes in life. Its nice to be able to let yourself go and be who you always knew you were. Congratulations on your success!
  5. I was reading through that book tonight as well. I have felt myself having to deal with the day to day discomfort of life that I was accusotmed to dealing with by numbing myself with food, then being pissed that I had done that again! It is so difficult to develop a new relationship with food and even more so with yourself. I have also realized that I have always considered myself confident in most ways, but have some very ugly self talk about my shortcomings. This journey is going to be lifelong, but please know you aren't going it alone. Maybe we can learn to care for our bodies, and learn to love ourselves along the way. I am so glad that you are reaching out in these forums and to a therapist. You really need to give yourself a pat on the back that you aren't just focusing on the weight loss but on what got you here. You really are an inspiration.

    23rd - 29th May - Pledge your points!

Well if not we can just check in with each other, sometimes having a place outside of myself that I am accountable helps me! Its good to hear that you are finding simple ways to add exercise, making it part of life is what will make it stick so good for you!

    2 Months Yo!

Thank you so much! I am actually just starting to exercise formally. (That is not a good example!) I ordered hip hop abs and am gonna try a few dvds, my gym membership expires next month and I work 70 hours a week so I have to have things I can do at home. I am really excited to hear your surgery is so soon! Keep posting and if you ever need to vent or talk feel free to PM me. There are things that happen post op that feel like you are the only person they are happening to, but I promise we've all been there.
  11. Yeah I think I'm gonna hang on for a bit, in the beginning I didn't think I would need it at all but was getting lots of false hunger and the doctor ended up having me take it morning and night, so....I think I'm gonna keep taking it for a couple more months and then we'll see.
  12. I've never had any reflux or anything, but missed my prevacid yesterday and am sitting here at 5 am with reflux. Annoying! Guess I'm not ready to be done yet.
  13. I saw in one of the threads that you had some questions about the surgery. Where are you getting your surgery at? Feel free to message me if you have other questions and hopefully I could give you a hand.

    Regrets??

I am two months out today. I am truly grateful that with the help of the sleeve I am making steps to make myself healthier. It feels so great. But, with that said you do have to do the work. You do have to make good choices day in and day out. And when you lose what was a coping mechanism for you emotionally you can become uncomfortable. I have realized that I have avoided discomfort in life at all costs and that is an immature and unrealistic way to live, I am having to allow myself to feel some of those things now rather than numbing it with food, but guess what even that discomfort is a gift to myself. So.....after all my rambling, I would do it again tomorrow. No regrets.

    23rd - 29th May - Pledge your points!

Yikes! I am behind. I am going to have to taper way back, from the 25th (today) to the 29th I'd like to pledge 10 points (twenty minutes of exercise daily.) Thank you so much for keeping this going Bookleen! What are you doing for your exercise and how is it working for you? I ordered a couple dvd's and have a big living room that we never use so I'm going to take it over as my gym!
  18. I've been looking at previously posted recipes (thanks Tiff, I am now obsessed with allrecipes.com) I am trying a few new things and trying to make things that I loved preop more post op friendly, it is exciting to find that there are still a world of options! But, I do have two questions. I need a website that allows you to enter all your ingredients and then get the nut info. I tried it on OH and it only gave me the amounts per total, rather than by serving. Secondly, for those of you who have had bison, what is the taste comparable too. I am not a fan of anything remotely gamey. Also, I live in a relatively small town, any ideas for where I could purchase it? Thanks all! Anna

    ? about Aceves please..

I went with Dr. Aceves two months ago today, and I was mostly sedated (I have a small memory) of getting the block in the OR. I experienced no pain post op. They take it out before you even get back to the room (that was with me, I know they left Angie's in) so you are able to use the restroom on your own, etc. I really liked it. I have had laproscopic surgery before and this was a far better experience.

    puking vitamins

Me too Stacy. I didn't have a problem with them preop but they kill me post op. I had to find a special gummy vitamin that has much nutritive help to it. I can do the bariatic advantge if I suck on them so they very gradually hit your stomach instead of chewing them up and having them hit all at once.
  23. wannalise

    Sorry I completely suck...

What a boat load of great news. Good for you lady. I bet your Dad will be so proud of you!!!!

    Trouble w/ Protein...

Hydration is what matters at your stage. Make your best efforts with protein, but don't stress. Your body can handle a few days with low protein, but it can not do time without fluids. I even had to do gatorade a couple days and it didn't slow my weight loss, but it did ensure that my body kept on moving. You are doing great! Best of luck.
