I WISH I would feel less restriction already!
wannalise replied to LAN2k's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No wisdom on the topic, just want you to know I'm thinking of you, and I hope you can find a resolution that will allow you to enjoy all the wonderful changes your body has made. Good luck! Anna -

You little rockstar!!!! You are doing so well. Your face looks absolutely beautiful, (not to mention you look pretty dang happy too!) Great job, what a huge accomplishment in such a short time! -
sensitive to smells??
wannalise replied to delawaregal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The smell thing is normal! I had it too and have read of several others. It passes but it takes time, and being so close out to surgery, I am so sorry that you are also sick. Stay hydrated and everything else will come along. Take care, Anna -
Beginning to consider thinking about....
wannalise replied to Waddlingduck's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had a wretched recovery. I was in the hospital extra days because I couldn't hold anything down, when I finally got home I was exhausted and dehydrated. It really sucked, and I would do it over and over again. Preop I had a good life, I have great friends, a wonderful family, and the greatest boyfriend in the wide world. Post op is even better. It is challenging, but I am succeeding, It is a magnifying glass for my life, the things that are good feel even better, the things that were bad are either falling by the wayside or I am learning greater ways to deal with them. As to some of your questions, I have much more energy now then I have in ten years. The first month I had to nap everyday, now I am getting more done and sleeping better then I ever have. I haven't lost hair....yet, and I am vain about my hair too. It is one of those things that no matter how fat I got my hair stayed pretty, but even if I was BALD I would still do it! I was really worried about the skin thing too. My arms are pretty floppy and I am working them out every day. My lower stomach looks like some crazy bread dough, and my thighs are gonna have some issues, but my butt is way smaller, I have a waist, my face is thin. There certainly are challenges, but for me the benefits have more than made up for them. Best of luck to you!!! -
I was not a "lightweight" but if I could have prevented the years of feeling exhausted, risking my health, and feeling out of control when it came to my eating habits I would have been all over it. This surgery when used correctly, can really enrich your life. I realize new things everyday about myself. Including realizing all of the ways I allowed being overweight to negatively affect me. Whether it is through surgery or other means I respect anyone who is wanting to improve their quality of life. Good luck!

Thank you so much for your note!!! How are things going for you? I really am doing well. I'm not sure why, I am still reading this forum a lot but haven't really been commenting as of late. It is so interesting to now see people post about things that just a few months ago I was posting about. Thanks so much for your support! It was great to hear from you!!!

VSG colonoscopy question
wannalise replied to possumtrot's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You'll be able to do it, it will just be a far more time consuming endeavor. If you let your Gastroenterologist know the situation they may have more/different options for you. Your ability to drink really improves over time. (Thank goodness cuz those first few weeks were SOOOOOOO annoying to me!) Its great that you stay on top of this though. Best of luck! -
SO Thirsty-NOTHING quenches my thirst!!!!
wannalise replied to nikkib's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That was MISERABLE!!!! I remember it and was worried it would never go away. I started (and still do) getting route 44 ice waters from sonic or just buying sonic ice. They are crushed really finely and they sit okay on my stomach and if I have it with me I can get 44 oz down in a few hours. Good luck! -
Hi all! Things continue to look good for the March babies. Its still so exciting. I have only started introducing consistent exercise in the last two weeks, which really is a source of worry to me, because I know that for me it will be KEY to my long term success. I continue to use a couple protein shakes daily because I can not get all my protein in other wise. But I'm down 65 lbs!!!!! This has been such an amazing journey for me.

So I have this very young tactless friend who we all adore, but who without realizing it says the MOST horrible things. He hadn't seen me in about a week and I was wearing a short sleeve shirt and he hugged me then grabbed my arm smiling and said, "Anna your arms are so much different, I mean seriously look your skin is like elephant skin now!" Holy S*** I am only a month post op. I already had old lady flabby stretch mark arms, but as I lose more I fear my vanity may make me crazy!!!!

Dishes/utensils... recommendations?
wannalise replied to CraftyChristie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Interesting point! I was part of a boot camp and they told us that in the 20's the average person was so physically active with work, walking, etc. That most people were of healthy weight, and burning approx 4000 cal a day. Now how they would know this is beyond me, but I found it fascinating that we eat more and move less. -
Woot woot!!!! I am so excited for you, I know how frustrating that was for a while, I am so glad to hear that things are still moving. Don't ever think your thoughts are too out of whack. All of us have those moments, it is easier to see what others need to do sometimes then to help ourselves, that is why this forum is so great. We can see ourselves in each other and make the changes we need to succeed. Good for you Stacey! Keep it up.

Really struggling - Please help!
wannalise replied to Cottoneye's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had horrible anxiety post op and had to have my doctor call in some xanax for me. I've never needed an anti-anxiety but all the stuff happening to my body was very overwhelming. Hope you continue to improve each day, eventually my surgery became one of the best things in my life, hope you can experience that feeling too. -

Dr. Cottam in Salt Lake City doing Sleeve Plication for less than $6500
wannalise replied to Betterbytheday's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
Dr. Cottam is doing my post op care, has a kookie bedside manner, but is an EXCELLENT surgeon. Good luck with your decisions! -
Boobs. Boobs. Boobs. And my face and my arms. But really boobs.

You are going to get a wide variety of answers. I would check with your NUT and see what they advise. The general rule that I stick to is that you get your protein first, then veggies, then carbs. If you are eating 70g of protein daily and only eating 600-800 calories daily, the odds are good that you really won't have much room for carbs. Also, there is some proof that avoiding simple carbs leads to decreased cravings, and that proteins keep you fuller longer. Good luck!

I survived Recital!
wannalise replied to sickofrollercoaster's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yay Angie!!!! I was on a trip last week and walked the whole day before I realized I wasn't winded or tired and my feet didn't hurt, and getting on a roller coaster didn't give me the scary feeling that my butt might not fit! I am so glad to see you are doing so well. Keep rocking it beauty! -
Checking back in, surgery back on radar for now
wannalise replied to kkandrod's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
There is a surgeon here in SLC who is doing my post op care that is doing this procedure for free and you pay for your hospital stay and anasthesia only. The cost is 6300. He has a very weird bed side manner, but is an excellent surgeon and has great staff as well. His name is Dr. Cottam and he is out of the Surgical Weight loss center. I'm glad to see you back around! I hope that you find the answer that is best for you. Anna -
Angie,
Hi! I have been working tons in the evenings, I miss chat actually, but things really are going pretty well. How are you doing? How are things with the hubby? Hope all is well. Have a great day!

my one and only fear/question re sleeve...hi, im new here.
wannalise replied to NY Lou's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tiff is right. I am just under three months out and I am still in the learning phases, I am horrible at eating slow and sometimes pay the price, but I have to tell you that last week I went to LA for a mini vacation. Every other vacation I've been on totally revolved around food, but this was different. Because it was last minute I was broke on the trip and it didn't matter! My boyfriend and I shared a shake in Mel's diner (I ate about 1/4c), we enjoyed sharing gyros, I ate a small part of a tuna melt from Quiznos, and I planned ahead and took some yummy cheeses, favorite fruits, and a few protein shakes. I have never enjoyed a trip more. I didn't get overly stuffed, I spend hardly any money and instead of focusing on food I enjoyed the sites, I enjoyed spending time with people that I love. And when I took my vacation photos I wasn't completely mortified or shocked at how I looked. Any thing you sacrifice with the sleeve you get back ten fold. Sometimes I do miss certain activities, but I promise the payoff makes it all worthwhile. And by the way, I lost weight on vacation!
