Has Anyone Had Good Long Term Success?
Lollicatt replied to newskinnygal's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
There are going to be potential complications with any wls you decide on. I felt that lap band risks were ones I was comfortable with over the others. I like the fact that if this doesn't work for me (although I'm 100% happy so far) I can remove it and decide if I want another option. Personally, I'd find a surgeon that fully supports the lap band. -
I had trouble eating good healthy food when I was too tight. I found myself turning to sliders just to get something in my belly. I gave it time, my least fill has loosed up a tad and its perfect. I've got back to losing consistently again now that eating healthy is not such a pain. I still can't do carbs very well and couldn't even physically bite into a burger, but my Protein and veggies go down fine and in small amounts. It took me about 7months to get here and I'm happy in my green zone.

Do You Buzz Going Through A Metal Detector?
Lollicatt replied to Lovemythreems's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went off at the st . Louis arch security. In my little lap bands packet it says that there is a small titanium rod in the port and I may set off security. I handed them my lap band card and they were fine with it. -

No but it sounds like you're having an allergic reaction to something. I'd get to the doctors asap! -
How Many "perfect" People Are Out There?
Lollicatt replied to marfar7's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I probably follow 80/20 too! During bandsters hell, I was close to perfect, ate very healthy and logged everything. Now that I'm in the green zone, I track nothing! It's wonderful because I'm NOT dieting. Now, for the most part, my eating habits are a lot healthier than pre band but if I want bad stuff, I eat what the band allows, in moderation. I do not deprive myself and I'm still loosing. I've slowed down as I'm about 30lbs from goal but I'm doing great. I love my band! -
It took 2 years of reading this forum, and about 10-15 years of diets, weight loss plans, diet doctors, etc. before I actually attended a seminar. Once I attended the seminar (after skipping out on about 10 appts I'd scheduled over the years), I knew this is what I wanted. I researched them all and found ONE that I was confident in. You may find that another surgery is a better fit for YOU, but YOU need to decide that. Please don't let someone else do it for you. By the time I started my journey, I also had to do six months of doctors visits for my insurance to cover it. I know that seems like a long time but I'm so glad I did it. the morning I went in for surgery I was 200% mentally ready for this and EXCITED! I have not had ONE day or minute of regret. I'm about 7 months out, almost 50lbs down; seems slow, but I'm happy as it's a steady downward tick. Only about 30lbs till goal and I'm loving my life and decision. Do this for you and make the decision on which surgery you are happy with getting and living with. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU.

Low Cal Alcohol Options? At All?
Lollicatt replied to Carolinacrumb's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree with the above. I love my occasional drinks and I don't feel guilty because of it. The band has helped me significantly cut my calories and I'm still loosing, even after the weekends that I drink. I still have and LOVE my beer, wine, and cocktails. Some low calorie options are wine, vodka and light cranberry, and there are also some Crystal light mixers that I have yet to try but heard they are amazing! -
2 Days Post Op.. Shouldwe Stop Ttc?
Lollicatt replied to curtysgirl's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Don't be embarrassed, upset, confused.. .we've all been there! The weeks following surgery can be very emotional. My doctor suggested a year before we start ttc again but honestly, I'm almost 50lbs down, with 30 more to go until I hit my goal. BUT, since I suspect it'll take many attempts to get pregnant, my DH and I have decided its time to have fun, not be careful, and see what happens. If I reach my goal and still haven't got prego, I'll consult my ob for next steps. Best wishes to you in whatever you decide and *baby dust*! -

Two Years, 70 Pounds...and Pregnant!! :)

Congratulation! -
Yes, I have no problems with any of then.

My band is sensitive in that I can only get .5 cc Max fill at a time or I swell shut. And I have to be on liquids for about a week and then soft foods before I can even think about solids.. . Maybe they meant something like that?

Succes With A Band, And Article That I Found Interesting!
Lollicatt replied to mylynn1377's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree, I lost weight consistently when I didn't have so much trouble with meat and veggies. I've recently found myself turning to slider foods more often. I'm starting to loosen up so I'm not interested in an unfill but I won't be getting another fill for a while. -
Yes You Can Drink And Eat At The Same Meal Time
Lollicatt replied to Helen Bauzon's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Great article, Helen! My doctor was very thorough in his explanation of how the band actually works with food triggering you're receptors and passing through the band quickly, rather than the funnel filling up with food. I enjoyed the diagrams as well. Looking forward to the next post. -
Sliimimg Questions
Lollicatt replied to Sholitxmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you're having a hard time with food and sliming allot I wouldn't get another fill now. Even at 3.5 you still sound tight. It'll loosen up eventually though. -

Lapband - Questions Any Suggestions Would Be Awesome
Lollicatt replied to phxcwgrl2002's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My questions are: 1. How many times do you have to get a fill? I've had 6 fills and 2 unfills, at 5.5cc in 10cc band and at my green zone. I've got another appt on 6/13 for a fill but I'll probably cancel it 2. Does anyone get side effects like Nausea etc? I never had any 3. How long does the approval take? for me, it took about a week, BCBS IL - BUT I had to do 6 months of docs visits before they could submit me for approval. I'm glad it was required because I was 200% ready and had done ALOT of research 4. How long is the procedure itself? took about 45 minutes and they repaired a hiatal hernia 5. Is this outpatient procedure? Or in patient? outpatient 6. Do you have to prove you have sleep disorder? I didnt 7. Do most insurances approve the operation? It totally depends on what your employer elects to cover 8. once the operation is done - do you have follow a strict diet? Like shakes? if so what kind? yes, you'll go through phases of clear liquids, full liquids, mushy foods and then work your way into solids. I mainly follow a low carb high Protein diet 9. Can you go back to work the next day or in my case Nights? once the procedure is done. I would wait at least a week, if you sit at a desk, anything else at least two weeks. You need rest to heal properly and even though its non invasive, surgery takes alot out of you Any suggestions would be awesome - Do your research. I have NO REGRETS!!
