  1. Hmmmm.. I am 22 months post op and for me it varies on what I've eaten for the previous meal or snack. Does that make sense? If I ate something light then I"ll be able to eat a bit more. If i eat Subway (which I do often), I can only eat a 6in (chicken breast on wheat and veggies), and I'm done. Prior to surgery I could go to a restaurant and order an appetizer, main course, and dessert, and eat an hr later. If I go to a restaurant now, I can only eat 1/2 of what's on my plate ( no room for anything else) I would say about 3-4 oz
  2. Have a great day!

  3. Unfortunately it happens.. I lost a lot of hair around the third month up until 7 or 8th.. I took my vitamins and was taking 5000 Biotin... it scared the pants out of me. I can tell you that around the 11 month, I noticed new hair coming in... So don't worry.. it will soon pass...
  4. Have today and tomorrow...then I'm off for 5 days...WOOT! WOOT!

kari, Approximately 21/2 weeks after surgery I started walking.. Around 4wks I was doing cardio and light weights... I increased the exercise time in incraments. I was given a food journal by my surgeon that listed what I should be eating at what month through this journey... I stuck by my regimen religously. It slowly introduced foods and I felt accountable for what I was eating for the first time in my life. Every dr is different.. If you want I can scan what i ate and can send it to you via email.. You can compare information that you were given. Don't get discouraged! It's a matter of finding what works for you...This manual is about 7 pages long and it tells you what I ate for the first 12 months.

I didn't keep track Cass...but from what I remember I lost pretty quickly...5-6 lbs a week consistent for probably first 3 months... then the rest of the lbs came off slower.. It's so much harder to take off the last few lbs. I started exercising the day I was given the ok too, and that was consistent. I was sooo motivated to lose it... how are u doing?

Does Anyone With A Sleeve Run?

I'm almost 2yrs post op... Prior to surgery I hated exercise, especially running. I incorporated walking and running into my exercise routine as soon as I could. I have to say that running is now my first choice for exercise. I love it. Last month I participated in my first 5k in Puerto Rico called RUN LIKE A DIVA... it was awesome and the feeling was undescribable. I finished it in 34 minutes and came in #19 from 72 women in my age category... I would of never thought in a million years that I would love it as much as I do
  12. When I was obese I'd go to a restaurant and order an appetizer, main course, and dessert.. I'd go home and less then two hrs. later eat again....I remember how that felt.. At the moment your enjoying the food but then you'd feel guilty and sick... The relationship that I have with food is so different now. I'm almost 2yrs post op.. When going to a restaurant , I will order either an appetizer or a main course that will last me for two meals. As most Spanish people, I love spice.. It was difficult at first but i gradually added it to my foods and have no problems whatsoever.. I had a 6in. oven roasted chicken on whole wheat (subway) for lunch today and it was loaded with jalapenos.... I cook at home more then I do going out to eat...

    A Little Discouraged

Give yourself credit for recognizing and accepting what's going on and assuming responsibility for your actions... The most important thing is that you ARE doing something about it... better now then 30 or 40 lbs later...when we slip up---- we get back on track... don't feel discouraged..you can do this and then some Get on a strict regimen for the next couple of weeks and if I were you I would do cardio and weights..I'm sure it will come off in no time. I have been there in my journey as well.. I work for law enforcement and it's hard to pass up the infamous doughnuts daily... there are times when i give in to temptation but I think that getting on that scale at least 1x a week keeps me grounded. You will be o.k.... Thanks for sharing because all of us need encouragement

    More VSG Revelations

almost 2 yrs post op and can relate to everything said. Personally when I was losing the weight I would hit up the high end thrift stores and find awesome clothes.. and cheap...that's the way to go! People sometimes have a misconception that when you have WLS that its a "miracle" for obesity...that it just comes naturally.. This is so not the case.. It takes a lot of dedication and commitment to lose what you need to and get over the stalls and to maintain once your at goal...We should all pat ourselves on the back. TO this day I still have a problem when it comes to shopping... I went from a size 16/18 to a size 0-2... I will go into a store and pick up a pair of pants and mentally tell myself this size 2 will not fit....although it does.. My brain does not conceive the idea that I am that size..almost 2 yrs post op and still have issues with this...

    Loosing Hope

I'm so sorry! I can relate to a lot of the things you've said through my journey. Things will fall into place, you have to believe that. I personally refused to discuss surgery with those who were negative about it. A lot of the negativity was from lack of knowledge about this procedure and assumptiions. I was a diabetic on insulin and other meds to manage other health problems as well. I got the run around from the insurance company and decided to go through it and did self pay. Although it's been difficult financially, it was so worth the investment. I am off all meds to include my insulin shots, and have a life that I can enjoy with my family.. Keep your head up. All will work itself out.

    The Scale Experiment

Hmmm.. .i can relate! I lost my 75 lbs in about 41/2 months and still got on that scale religiously every day. I'm almost 2yrs post op, and I have to say that it was recently about a month ago that I didn't get on daily. If I see my weight fluctuate more then 3 lbs... it's a way of letting me know "hey what ya doin? what's going on?" Getting on that scale keeps me grounded. I get on about 2x a week now. I'm not as obsessed about it, but it's a tool for me.
