I had my surgery 4 years ago. I have seen success and failure over this time. I went to my appointment today and I weigh the same as I did before my surgery. I've very discouraged. I have trouble sticking with the program. I eat larger portions then I should and I don't exercise. I know what I need to do but don't follow through. I have difficulty with both being hungry and with throwing up. It seems like the fill is never quite right. I have had all the Fluid removed and put back over several visits. I have done atkins more times then I can count to try to get me to loose weight without a fill. I just need someone who has had similar problems. I never thought it would be easy but I didn't think it would be this hard.

I'm proud of your weight loss. I too have struggled. I have gained back all the weight I lost after surgery. I am doing atkins for two weeks to jump start my weight loss. I have to drink Protein shakes before lunch and dinner or I will throw up. It sounds like neither of us have bodies that want to cooperate. Good luck to you.

I'm very happy that you have found this journey easy and have lost weight with little effort. Not all of us are that lucky. I don't just go back and have Fluid taken out when things get tough. I go when I throw up once or twice a day for several days in a row. I'm not over eating those times I throw up. I have three or four bites and run for the bathroom. I have found changing my eating habits a challenge. I have two children's ages 7 and 12. I have to be very careful that I explain that when mommy gets sick it's because of her surgery. I don't want my 7 year old to thing throwing up after meals is normal. I know I need to try harder and with going back to Atkins for two weeks I hope I can loose some weight and feel better about myself.

I went to see the physician's assistant today. She thinks I have a dilation of the pouch. I go from being hungry all the time and not really watching my portions. To other days when I eat a couple of bites and throw it back up. I am now on lliquids for the next 7 days then soft foods for another 7 days. Then a normal diet again. She also took liquid out of the band. I hope this will jump start my weight loss again. I haven't lost anything in 4 months. I am very discouraged. Has anyone else had this happen? Did the liquid/soft foods help with the dilation? I go back in 3 weeks and they will do xray with barium. They didn't have an xray today so I wasn't able to have this done.

When I talked about not being able to keep foods down I eat and then in a short period of time I throw up. I'm not familar with PB what does that mean?

With taking out some of the liquid they can then slowly add fluid back. She is hoping that I will have restriction again. i have seem to be in the yellow or red zone since my surgery. I'm not sure what other centers use. Yellow is hungry and not watching portions. Red is trouble keeping food down. I rarely have been in the green zone which is eating small portions and feeling satisfied.

I am 39 year old female. I am married with two children. I just had my surgery on Friday. I am looking for someone I prefer a female mentor to talk to about what it's like to adjust to your new life. I live in Texas near Austin. i enjoy spending time with my husband and kids, reading, watching tv and playing with our dogs. Thanks

i had my first fill today. I had to sit and drink water for 10 minutes. I felt like I would throw up. I had to go back in and have all the fluid removed I feel disappointed. Have others had this problem? I feel like I haven't made progress because the fluid amount didn't change. But I have lost 25 pounds. Seven pre op and 18 in almost 5 weeks.

Does anyone else have trouble telling people you had lap band surgery? I ran into a friend at the gym today and i told her i was on a special diet the dr put me on. I told her that it focused on veggies, fruit, meat and low fat dairy and exercise. I'm embarrassed that i couldn't loose weight on my own. I would love to hear from other people.

Pre-Surgery Jitters - I need some calming words from people who care..............
Karen72 replied to NJBandit's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I started having doubts about whether I was doing the right thing right before surgery but was surprisingly calm the day of my surgery. I just had mine done March 25 so I'm new to this. When I went in i had to fill out paperwork, they asked medical questions, put in the IV, did a pregnancy test, blood pressure, temp etc. Then they gave my some pepcid in my iv to get rid of stomach acid and something to get rid of secretions (not sure what med it was). Then they gave me something to make me drowsy. I was wheeled into operating room where they game me the med to put me to sleep. I've had surgery before and had never been awake when I got to the operating room. When I woke up I wasn't sure where I was. They had me walk around a little, drink some barium and did a x ray to see if the lap band was in the right position. Then I had to drink some water and keep it down. I'm lucky I don't get sick after surgery. I was sore and the gas pain was hard to deal with. I took gas x strips which I don't think helped. I walked 3-4 times the day of my surgery. This helped with the gas the most. Don't be afraid to use the pain med that you are given. Don't wait until you are in pain to take it. I was taking mine every four hours. i still have some pain but it's getting better. I'm walking a mile a day now. It takes me almost 25 minutes but I feel like it's a start. Good luck. -
I did Adkins for my pre op diet. It was hard at first because I was always hungry. I got tired of certain foods for example, chicken, eggs, and cheese. I am now 5 days post op and would give anything for real food. Good luck.

I feel your pain. I am 5 days post op only clear liquids. It's been almost a week since I've had "real" food. During dinner tonight I had to leave and go for a walk There are only so many ways to be creative with popcicles, jello, gatorade, water, crystal light, juice etc. Good luck.

I had my surgery on Friday so I am three days post op. My question is does anyone else feel hungry? I am drinking water, juice (one serving a day), low sugar gatorade, popicles, jello, and broth. I read in the lap band book that I was given that you're not suppose to feel hungry after surgery. What did other people experience after surgery?
