Does The Gastric Sleeve Surgery Help Reduce Depression? Did You Reduce Or Get Off Of Meds?
lisaenidok replied to ladylovely's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Everything has evened out...but at the beginning ...oh say first 5 months or so.....I became a nervous wreck! Turns out that the med I was on for depression had become too strong for me due to my weight loss. So yeah, if anything doesnt feel quite right, please do consult your doctor. A simple med reduction can make a world of difference HUGS -

lisaenidok replied to lisaenidok's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well here we are...a bit out from my original post. Will let you all know that everything mood wise had evened out. So hang in there! On a side note I too am deficient in vit D. Also have found out that taking a magnesium supplement helps me feel and sleep better too. Learned that from a fellow sleeve sister Hope you all are doing well too. HUGS -

Surgery Nov 2010....now June 2011. SEVERE muscle cramps to outer sides of lower legs, back and abdominal muscle spasms. This has been going on for about three weeks and is getting more frequent....to the point of happening several times a day. Even get severe abdominal muscle cramping with a small amount of bladder fullness. Limping around due to muscle soreness from the cramping. Went to my surgeon 5 days ago. Bunches of lab drawn but no results yet. Anyone have any idea what I might be low on vitamin/ mineral wise. Have rx for flexeril, a muscle relaxant, and that doesnt even touch it! HELP!!!!!

Dimples509...........I get the Wild Berry Punch Chrystals from Bariatric Advantage. It's a complete Multiformula with calcium. Just mix in one little scoop with your fluids twice a day and you're good. The formulation does include vitamin D. I'm just having to take additional vitamin D because I was super low even before surgery. Oh almost forgot, my doctor has us all do weekly sublingual B-12. Well this formula contains the higher dose that we need after surgery. It's a great product all around.

You'll do great Diamond! They'll give you some medicine, you'll take a nap, and then be up walking the halls in no time. Just don't forget to close up the back of your gown first ;P HUGS! -
ROFL! Completely understand. oh the things we women have to put up with ;P

I have always had trouble swallowing the calcium tabs pre-op. I got me some of the powdered multivitamin with calcium in it through bariatric advantage. Has a fruity taste. Just mix in on in with my chrystal light. Just be sure to stir every so often. The calcium powders tend to settle to the bottom. Sleeve feels so much better taking the vitamins in with my fluid intake through the day. Otherwise I'm full to the gills taking the vitamin/supplement pills!

Alcohol WithOut Liquid
lisaenidok replied to Amber's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok guys and gals. I confess. I tried the AWOL last night. Reviews- "EH" Did a some Jose Quervo Gold. Wouldn't recommend the AWOL unless you have the desensatized lungs like that of a smoker. Yes, the liquor is harsh on the lungs at first. After the initial 'break in period', you don't get a typical alcohol buzz. You get a nice relaxed mellow feeling. No hangover noted. Nice and relaxing after you get past the taste, but still not as fun as the effects of drinking the alcohol. Basically, it's a novelty. Like an ice luge, it's cool to have for a party, but soon looses it's appeal. But hey at least I can say I tried it. Won't be doing it anytime soon though. -
Alcohol WithOut Liquid
lisaenidok replied to Amber's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Guess others will have to be the guinne pigs for this experiment ;P LOL Did wonder about the amount needed though. When drugs can't be given IV in a code situation, you can give some through the breathing tube, BUT at 4 times the dose to do anything. Figured alcohol would require same 'dose' adjustment. IDK Need to keep every last brain cell I have ;P -

OMG! Reading too much here on the alcohol subject. Sounds like teens- girls AND guys, are using vodka soaked tampons as another way to get a buzz. CRAZY! -
Alcohol WithOut Liquid
lisaenidok replied to Amber's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
http://www.gotvape.com/vaporizer/alcohol-vaporizer.php Well looks like if you're gonna tie on a few and drive yourself home (dumb idea) that this is the way to go. Apparently you get the alcohols effects but the breathalizer tests can't get a reading like if you had drank the liquor. Parents out there- if you have a nebulizer and teens in the house, keep a close eye/ nose out for alcohol use in this manner! -
Alcohol WithOut Liquid
lisaenidok replied to Amber's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have heard of this before. Never met anyone that has tried it though. Hmmmmm don't need the extra O2 but could just as easily use a nebulizer. Hmmmm may have to experiment this weekend ;P Guess as long as it's an alcohol without all the sugary mixers it wouldn't hurt. Otherwise I could see the sugars making an easy breeding ground for bacteria in the lungs. Ewwwww. Talk about catching your death of Pneumonia. Jeez. Think I'll wait for further research to come in on the topic. Looks to be a cool novelty though.
