I can't believe that I am only 7 days out to surgery. The liquid diet is definitely getting easier. Thank goodness since I will be on it a while, right? I noticed though that i gained a few pounds this week. Thats kinda wierd since I'm not eating anything. kinda discouraging but I am pushing on. I keep hearing about this drain they put in. Can someone tell me how long they leave that in? Sounds painful.

$500 non-refundable fee ???? Are you kidding?
JamieLynn77 replied to former_vbg's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
i had a $420 fee that i had to pay that my insurance wouldnt cover. strictly for my nutritionist and my exercise specialist. basically for educational needs. and it lasts me thru 18 months. anything i need in that time, i can call and that fee covers it. -
Omg so I am almost thru day 3 of the liquid diet. And I almost caved. My son was having tacos and I could just look at em and taste em. The 'head hunger' is gettin to me. Tryin to stay busy. Anyone else having this trouble. :-[

anyone else feel this way
JamieLynn77 replied to JamieLynn77's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
That's where I'm having the most trouble. Boredom. Seeing everyone else eat makes me miss it. I only have 10 more days on liquids then my surgery. So I try to focus on the outcome. -
wow, so here I go! I am scheduled to be sleeved at 7:30am on January 11th! I can't believe its here already! Started my liquid diet yesterday. Made it through day one lol...which I wasn't so sure I could do. I have my pre op clearance with my family doc today, so I am on the fast track to a new me. I am so excited, and majorly scared. I know that sounds kinda silly, but surgery just scares me to begin with. But a lifetime of being over weight scares me more. any helpful hints to surviving the liquid diet?

January 11th is the day!!!
JamieLynn77 replied to JamieLynn77's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
the liquid part is easy when i am busy. so i can see why you say the night is soo hard. you have more time to think about it, and watching tv is the worst lol...the food commercials lol makes me hungry. so i know its all in my head. i get 3 protein shakes...that i can mix with milk...but then thats done 24 hrs before surgery. i can have broth...jello...and crystal light. and all the water i can drink. lol woohoo. but my NUT told me yesterday that i can by like vegetable soups and strain them for the broth if it spices things up for me so i dont get so bored. but i am on day 2 and so far i dont feel like robbing the local mcdonalds lol so i am doing okay. we absolutely have to keep in touch. where are you having your surgery done? -
keep telling myself...that starving feeling is only in my head...yeah thats it...all in my head. lol

Nervous & Excited Surgery in 4 Days!
JamieLynn77 replied to onedivanms's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
my doc lets me have milk up to 24 hours before surgery. so my Protein comes from a supplement called Body Fortress from wal-mart. chocolate flavored. its reasonalby priced. like $15. and its soooo good. very easy to stay on and not get frustrated. best wishes to you on your journey! -
sending hugs and best wished to you! keep us updated! and i am with kimmes! save room for me too! I am only 12 days behind you girls. what a super awesome way to start the new year! woohooo!!!!! :huggie:

i told my boss right away. and she was way supportive, and her daughter even comes into the office and covers for my shifts. and word has spread, and with overwhelming support and concern. everyone has positive things to say, as well as being behind me 100%. so i guess it just depends on your relationship with your boss. i work in a dealership and we are all kinda like family. so its kinda like they are going to hold me accountable in a good way, to make sure that i succeed. good luck with this and i hope your journey goes well!

Surgery on the 21st Start pre-op diet on the 14th!!
JamieLynn77 replied to MommyTawnie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc wants me on the 2 weeks of liquids only. i go in january so i havent gotten my breakdown of what i can and cant have yet. but they have already gotten me in the habit of substituting a couple of meals with protien shakes. and i love the Chike brand shakes. they have several flavors that rock! makes it so much easier and they are more filling than i thought they would be. i am on the search to for some good clear liquid recipes for like broth and the sort. ya know, so things dont get too boring and i am spazzing out before week one is even over. haha. good luck to you and cant wait to hear how it goes and see your progress!! -
I cant believe how fast time has gone by!!! I had my appointment with the exercise specialist, nutritionist and my psych eval. passed the psych eval!! wooohooo! and i go back in two weeks to see the other 2...just had some tweaking to do on some of the changes i had already made. and then, we will submit everything to insurance. So hopefully gearing up for the middle of February! So does anyone have any good recipes for like, the 2 week clear liquid torture we are submitted to? lol...i am just hoping that i can come up with some stuff so it doesnt get TOO boring....lol. they say that is the hardest part. guess we will find out! :yuck:

As of 2:30pm yesterday, I am on the road to a healthier me! Dr. Salimath said that the sleeve would work good for me (yippee) and that with a BMI of 42...and a small handful (haha) of co morbidities...i shouldnt have a problem with my insurance being on board! woohoo...i know i have a long road ahead of me, but it is one that I have waited a long time for, and i am ready. i started my new 'no soda, sweets, and all water' lifestyle today. lol oh boy! so...now i am just waiting for my appt with the nutritionist, psychologist, and behavioral therapist. Gonna get my labs done this weekend, and knock out as much as i can as soon as i can. any suggestions on the long prep to this new life?

I am soo excited. I am now 48 hours away from seeing my bypass doctor for the first time. Dr. Salimath in Peoria, IL. Curious to find out what he says and recommends for me. I have my fingers crossed...I have done my research and really like the vertical sleeve as my option, when you weigh in the pros and cons. So I guess I will just have to wait and see. Wish me luck all!!! woohooo!
