Just My Thoughts... Your Opinions??
cielle replied to CraftyChristie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're doing amazing! I can only hope to do as well as you are when I have my surgery. I'm sorry that you're struggling, but I know you'll get through it. 100 pounds is around the corner. Hang in there! -
You look great! Happy Birthday!

Just had plication surgery and need urgent help with pain

My thoughts are with you and your family. I hope you're doing better today and are home soon. -
I've never been thin either and it is just mind blowing to think about losing all of the weight. I'm so happy that you got a surgery date and how wonderful to have a family member going through the process with you.

Good to know. I feel like I've had to stay out of the water more since I joined the gym than I've spent in it.

Anyone have any idea how soon you can go back to water aerobics after VSG?

Wait, why sugar free?

It is creepy isn't it? I'm not really liking the changes to the site. No sources in this book which is unfortunate. If it hadn't been so cheap on Amazon, I would have sent it back since only about 1/3 of the book is recipes. Not quite what I expected from something that calls itself a cookbook. -
How many days in hospital for vsg?
cielle replied to blessedwithlove78's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
At my support group meeting on Monday, there were 3 people there who had recently had the sleeve. One stayed 1 night, one stayed 2 nights, and the third stayed 5 nights, but had some complications. Good luck tomorrow!!!! -
Is it just me or is BC/BS starting to approve vsg left and right
cielle replied to kooterpooters's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Have Horizon in NJ. They just started covering in July. My Dr. has already had issues and has canceled some October surgeries. Hoping things are ok by November. -
I have BCBS and I know that there have been issues with them. I'm in NJ, so it could be really different, but I've seen people in other places say that they've had problems. I know that my insurance just started covering the sleeve in July and my doctor has already had problems with them and postponed some people scheduled for surgery in October. (Fingers crossed that it is all worked out by November) Don't know anything about Kaiser. Hope that helps.

Congrats on making it to the other side!

How long did it take to hear the descision from your insurance?
cielle replied to FlyGirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It took the full three weeks before I heard anything and I'm scheduled for surgery on 11/22. Hope the waiting goes quickly for you! -

The Everything Post Weight Loss Surgery Cookbook says this about sugars: p. 118 "Sugar is a problem whether or not you experience dumping syndrome. Sugar is high in calories, but those calories are empty, totally lacking in nutritional value. Avoiding sugar will help keep your calorie intake under control." and p. 284 "Refined sugars can rapidly raise blood glucose levels and cause dumping syndrome. Less refined sugars, or slow sugars, are better tolerated...." Hope this helps. -
When I went for my cardiologist, my EKG was abnormal, but it was abnormal last year when I had minor surgery and I was told it might just be normally abnormal. He sent me for an echo which was fine and a nuclear stress test. I failed the nuclear stress test, but apparently that is common for women with large chests. My cardio told me that it was probably a false positive, but he wanted me to go for an angiogram. I've been somewhat freaked out :scared0: by this for the last month and a half, but I've been trying really hard not to think about it. I'm scheduled for an angiogram on Thursday. I've done some reading on the internet, but I've stuck to the clinical stuff from various hospitals because it has made me so anxious. Has anyone had one and can you talk at all about your experience with it? Were you awake during the procedure? How long did it take? Any other things to consider?

Thanks, April. Can't wait until it's over. Have to be at the hospital at 5 am tomorrow. :yikes:

Welcome, Joe. I didn't realize that there were any other surgeons in NJ doing the sleeve besides Dr. Washington. You're less than a month away. Have you started the pre-op diet yet?
-
Dr. Washington in New Jersey. Can't wait!!!!

Welcome, Christy! I'm right there with you weight wise. I've already started with a shake a day. I think they'll probably put me on two shakes at my appointment next week. Then I go to just liquids for at least two weeks. Not looking forward to it. Though I've seen a few people say that once you get past the third day, it's not too bad. I may try to freeze one shake a day, to give me the illusion of eating. Lol

Good luck on your journey. Are you going to any support group meetings? What's the next step for you?

I'm having mine on 11/22. Good luck to you!

Has anyone seen the Syntha6 Ready to Drink? If so, where? I'd like to pick up a few.

I think I'm going to get one. I'm tired of constantly cleaning my blender jar. Is it any quieter than a regular blender?
