Sheesh - it's just not that difficult!

I love using snopes to prove people wrong. Everytime i get a bulletin on myspace I disprove it and send it back out again with the snope link. I think it is hilarious.

I know, right? I can't really imagine riding without a helmet now. Well, at least riding along fast. It is hard to do sometimes when you are just strolling around the block as you have since you were 4 in a state that has no helmet law. I do need to get better about that though.

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Okay because it is funny to relive I copied the crash incident from my blog.....let's go back to July when it was nice and warm outside...... Let me set the scene up for you.... Yesterday morning I decided to play Tour de Oakwood (pretty much I was trying to ride to work as quickly as possible.) About 2 miles from my house a bee flies into my face and gets into my hair. I am freaking out trying to swat it out because I am deathly afraid of them. I start to swerve right where there is a bunch of landscaping going on and as hard as I try I can't keep myself from falling into the 12 inch deep 6 inch wide ditch that is on the side of the sidewalk. I sort of dove headfirst over the handlebars and landed on this huge piece of plywood and sort of slide along it. Due to the dusty piece of wood I don't have a mark on me but I am covered in dirt. My bike was not so lucky. Chunks of mud everywhere, handlebars turned sideways, cracked pedal, chain popped off. Off course there are several people to witness this and my pride was wounded lol. I was shaking for about 5 minutes and once I calmed down I get ready to hop back on and go. I fix the chain and straighten the handlebars and try to get back on. The wheel is bent to shit and I can't ride it. So I walk the bike two miles home and drive to work. Lessons I have learned. 1. If I had just been riding in the street I would have just hit the curb and fallen on the grass. 2. Wear a helmet. The main reason I was on the sidewalk was because I don't have a helmet. Funny thing is that probably 10 seconds before the accident I was thinking "Dang I really need to get a helmet". I am pretty lucky all that happened to my head was a little bit of dirt. Of course later on I ended up with quite a few bruises. I did get my bike fixed and get back out this morning for a 20 mile ride. I also bought a helmet. I thought I was going to feel like an asshole riding with one but honestly I did not even notice it. I felt like a real biker lol. So yeah that was the tale of the bike crashing. As for the throwing....yes i had a hissy fit and threw my bike on the ground causing about $80 worth of damage. If you knew my husband then you would understand why this whole fit was justified. ODB (Ol Dirty Bastard for those who don't know my bike's name) has been through a lot this summer culminating with the whole bouncing along the freeway fiasco. Depending on finances I might have to retire ODB next season. Mountain bikes are pretty cheap and if I have enough left over after getting my road bike I may just invest in a new one. Jenn as for the gym I go to the Y. I am not sure if you want to drive all the way out to Northline and 75 but I would love to have you. I think an individual membership is like $40 a month and a family is supposed to be $70. They have been charging us as Southgate residents, however, so we have only been charged $33 a month. I am not quite sure how that happened but I am certainly not telling anyone there about it. You can get month to month but I think it is a little bit more expensive. I like it a whole lot but it really is no Lifetime Fitness. I have not showered there and the locker rooms are kinda blah. The classes are okay but the aerobic rooms are very very small. They have some free classes that wou have to register for since they can only have like 15 people per class and of course the cool classes cost money. You know once it gets warm we will be hitting up the metropark anyhow. If I were you I would save my money and get a sweet ass road bike. Speaking of which let's go bike shopping soon lol.

I would recommend find some LBS (local bike stores) and getting fitted for a bike. Try out many different kinds, shop around.

Game: What Color is Oprah Today?

Tits, you are right about the voting. It is sad and it is pathetic that people don't care about issues and such, and will base their vote on a celebrities point of view. Hillary is going to have women voting for her just because she is a woman. Obama is going to have blacks vote for him just because he is black. Oprah is going to pull in some votes because she is Oprah. We just have to hope that the majority of our voting society bases their vote on something more important than gender, race, or the celebrity factor.

    Opposite sex opportunities

I am in a place where I don't even know that men are flirting with me. I will chat it up with anyone and I just think people are being nice. My friends are the ones who have to point these things out to me. I feel almost socially retarded because I spent my teen years grossly fat. I am glad that I am married because frankly I don't even think i could handle the dating thing.

I think many people do this but on a much smaller scale. I speak completely different at work than when I am at home than when I am with my friends. I have a horrid potty mouth, I use a lot of slang, I don't really speak well. But at my job I try to be professional. I don't swear at work, I don't use slang, I finish my sentences completely. I speak to children very differently than I speak to adults. I have many girlfriends who change their entire tone and language when talking to a man. Sometimes the way we speak is determined by the company that surrounds us.

Run Injury Free with Jeff Galloway: Your Complete Running Resource. Marathon Training, Half Marathon Training, 10K Training. Excellent running program IMO. I have his book on running and his marathon book and both are very good reads. I also have a running for woman book by I think Claire something who is an editor at running world magazine.

    Bitches

Nice how yesterday a few of my co-workers (3 witches Macbeth) bought a cake for another co-worker (Nice old lady) and had a little birthday party for her, and I was the only person in the department to not get invited. It's not a big department, only 7 of us. Unbelievably and utterly rude and hurtful. I know they are not fond of me, nor I of them, but at the same time show some decency. Anytime I ever bring in something for whatever occasion I always offer it up to everyone. And it is not even about the cake, I couldn't eat it anyhow, it is the fact that I look like the asshole that did not come to the party. Those bitches will NOT break me. I am not the same shy, lets everyone walk all over her door mat, I was 80 pounds ago. I am the bigger person here, even if not physically anymore =). They will all be sorry when my name is on that door and they are calling me boss. Sorry I just needed to get that out. This place is such a damn zoo sometimes.

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

I would love to be outside if it was not a huge sheet of ice. I slipped and slid to my car this morning which sucked royally. But once I get into doing longer runs I am going to have to go outside. The 6 miles on the indoor track were sheer hell, walls, gym, treadmills, weights, walls, gym, treadmill, weights for 60 fucking laps. I need scenery. But I need warmth too. You are a lucky shit some 175 miles south of me. It's gotta be a little bit warmer. I'll get your ass to do a Tri. Maybe not next year but oh yes, Juli will be a bad ass.

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Yes that is what I am saying my dear. You want to give your body some time to rest between your running days, so just run longer on the days you do run and do something else on the days in between. Running burns the mega best calories ever, but as a beginner every single day is too much IMO. As for the reading, I need something to do other than be on the computer. I hope to do less of it in the spring when I can actually ride again. I hate, hate, hate the cold. I hate that it was so icy out today that school was canceled and of course I did not find this out until I took the girl to school. But I want running to be easier and better for me so I read about it. I am sure I will have a triathlon book in my hands soon enough since that is like one of the uber ultimate goals of 2008.

Juli how long are you running for on the days you run? IMO I would not do more than 4 days per week running and cross training on the other days. Try to run longer an the days you do run. After 30 minutes of running you burn more fat than glucose. Try alternating running 5 minutes, walking 1 or 2 minutes for an hour. Not that I am some great runner or anything, I just read a whole shit ton of books. =)
