They are two completely different systems. You are only going to choke if the food goes down your windpipe, not down to your stomach. Don't get me wrong it can hurt badly and you may feel short of breath when food get stuck (I know I do) but it certainly will not choke you.

Matrix Chocolate or Cookies and Creme?
babygrl1234 replied to babygrl1234's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ohh I thought the Cookies and cream was very tasty. Good luck with those protien shot. There is a lady I work with who loves them but I think they are the nastiest things I have ever put in my mouth. But maybe you will like them since you don't like the Matrix and I do lol. How much Water or milk did you mix them with? They tend to taste a bit better if there is only 6 oz of liquid to one scoop of powder. -
SO today is my birthday and I figured I was going to splurge a little bit since we were going out. Yeah I definitly brought home way more of my meal than I ate.

The Benefiber is a good idea. I have tried Metamcil but he does not like the flavor or consistancy.

I can just see it now, him taking his prom date in the bathroom to help change his diaper lol. I have bought him a special waterbottle to drink out of. Makes him feel special lol. He really just doesn't want to let go of that poo.

Matrix Chocolate or Cookies and Creme?
babygrl1234 replied to babygrl1234's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Actually I have tried it both ways. I prefer it in milk and I used about 7 ounces for one scoop. I am so picky with my protien shakes and this really is the only one I have found that I could drink daily, even twice a day if necessary. -
I think it really depends on what works for you. In the little time I have had my band I have noticed that the weeks when I have more protien(ie shakes) I lose wieght, on the weeks that I was not having them daily I was maintaining wieght. If I don't have a lot of protien I don't lose wieght. That has always been true for any diet I have tried. I always lose when I increase my protien. You need to do what works for you and makes you comfortable.

Susannah, I have had many talks with him. His biggest problem is that sometime in the past he became constipated. It hurt to pass the bm so now he is afraid to do it. He continues to hold it back until he can't anymore and it usually becomes so big and painful once it comes out that he does not want to do it again and the cycle jsut continues. I have changed his diet adding in more Fiber and giving him less dairy and bananas. I have had him on Senna(stool softener) for awhile. I try to ween him off of the stool softener and he just holds it back again. He gave me a huge scare yesterday because he had not gone in a few days and he could not get it out. I was trying everything including using gloves to pull it out. It was stuck and once he fially passed it was the size of a baseball. My pediatrician has not been much help in the situation since all she has recomended was the Senna and a diet change which is working but once I take him off the Senna he just goes back to holding it. For now I am just going to put him back on the Senna until I can get him in with his pediatrician again. If she doesn't do something else about it I will probably go see a specialist or something. The last thing I need is for him to distend his bowel. As for the training I am just going to give it a rest. He can just wear diapers and I am not going to say a word about it. Once he decided he is ready then he can start doing it.

I just want something more achievable and for me 155 seems easier to get to than 125. Once I get to 155 then I can reevaluate the situation. I have never been thin so I don't even know if my body can get that low.

I seriously go from losing 1 pound a week for a couple weeks then dropping 4 in a week. I know how frustrating it is to only lose that one pound, especially when you are so close to going into a new set of numbers. I did it when I hit 250 and hovered there for awhile before going to 249 and I did it again at 240 until I got to 239. It sucks. How is your protien intake? I have found that when I am not as careful about that as I should be I lose much slower. Hopefully it won't be a problem now since I just got some chocolate Matrix and for a protien shake it tastes really really good.

LOL. The only thing I keep thinking is that he would not be able to go to Kindergarten because he won't use the toilet by then. I feel like I am going to have to start stocking up on Depends now because he is going to grow out of baby diapers soon.

Matrix Chocolate or Cookies and Creme?
babygrl1234 replied to babygrl1234's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
So I thought I was getting the cookies and creme but hubby bought the chocolate. I must say it is by far the most tolerable protien drink I have had. -

babygrl1234 replied to JA4602's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
WHy on god's green earth would you want to eat the greasy cheese off of a pizza after just having surgery? If you are really craving some mozzarella then have some string cheese. -
Feb 2007 Bandsters: April Challenge
babygrl1234 replied to babygrl1234's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
SO how is everyone doing? -
When you prepay for gas and the pump stops 25 cents shy of what you paid and crawls slowly up to the amount you paid. Why can't they just stop the pump 5 cents before or right on what you paid? When it is -10 outside and the wind is blowing that extra minute waiting for the final 25 cents worth of gas to pump is excruciating.

Georgia, have you talked to the counselor at all about addiction transfer? Maybe not having the food anymore is causing you to want to abuse the sex stuff?
-
How are you calorie wise? Just try to stay within whatever your doctor recommends. It may seem like you are eating a lot when you are on liquids, but I know I can drink a heck of a lot more chicken soup than I can eat chicken.

Feb 2007 Bandsters: April Challenge
babygrl1234 replied to babygrl1234's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am waaay better today. I made it to work and I feel really good. I spent most of the weekend sleeping which helped. Unfortunatly I seemed to have passed it on to all my cowrkers as they are all getting sick. Oops. I am glad to hear that you are feeling better. -
Betsy it is not so much the fact that the lady did not lose with the band but as how that doctor is portraying the band as a bad thing.
-
MAybe it is just me but any doctor that has to advertise on youtube seems to snarky for me to want to trust.

READ THIS B4 BEING BANDED...My Experience
babygrl1234 replied to Krystal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Krystal, Something that I have found very helpful in losing wieght is to always eat a bit of protien with a carb, never just eat the carb alone. You can eat the protien alone but not the carb. So maybe with your yogurt or oatmeal in the am sprinkle some unflavored protien powder into them or eat just half of that with one egg white. Thank you for sharing your story. It was very brave of you to post that on here and even braver for hopping back on the bandwagon.
