Feb 07 Bandsters: May Challenge
babygrl1234 replied to babygrl1234's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Good job travelgirl. I am about to go outside and walk, not only for the excercise but becasue my office is so friggin cold right now that I need some sunshine to warm up. -
And today on Lapband talk I learned that I am apperently not a Christian. Maybe saying some Christians or even most Christians would be a better idea than lumping those of us who do have open minds with those who don't.
-
She did sort of mention that. Though I do think the band is a much much greater tool. I don't really care either way. I have smoked ocassionally. Either when I am stressed or when I am drinking. Luckily I can pick it up and put it down as I please.

Anything I can do to help. We're all in this together right? Meijer (supermarket, I don't know if there is one near you) is having a sale right now on those 100 calorie snack packs. I jsut bought up a bunch of those and they are really good for a sweet tooth. One thing I notice though is that if I have a little bit of something sweet I want to have more and more until i eat the whole box of something. I will take one of those 100 calorie packs in my car and drive around and eat it and stay away from my house until the craving passes. Drastic but helpful. Thanks for the info on the flaxseed oil. Is there any way you can take it in a capsule or gelcap form that would have fewer calories? I found these on GNC... I don't know if it is the same or if this and what you take have different potentcies or whatever. http://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2648699&cp=2109068&sr=1&origkw=flaxseed&parentPage=family I don't know if they would be too big to swallow or anything just trying to put some info out there.

I have the same problem. If I need to have something sweet I will get one of those 100 calorie packs and take it in the car and go driving somewhere. I don't return home for at least 30 minutes until the craving passes. Sounds a bit dramatic but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do.

Oh that is reassuring to me. I just started the couch to 5Kprogram yesterday and just thinking of running a mile still seems way out of my reach. It is good to know that it can get easier quickly!

Feb 07 Bandsters: May Challenge

Okay. I just finished with my 25 minutes for my 5K training. For the first week I have to walk 5 minutes then alternate running 60 seconds and walking 90 seconds for 20 minutes for a total of 3 days. I am a little bit tired but I made it through day 1. I definitly need some new shoes though, these old ones are just not cutting it with the lack of cushioning. Feels good to know I can do it though. -

Even awesomer job!!!! Even though I did my excercise today (2.5 miles when I went back and drove it!) I still have to do my 30 minutes of running for my 5K "training". Maybe management is a better word there lol. July 21st is coming sooner every day! -

Welcome!!! I say tea absolutly counts as do protien shakes if you make them with water. Get yourself one of those 64 ounce drinking jugs and fill it up each day. Any time you have to use water in tea, coffee, protien drinks use the water from that to make it. Once it is empty you have your 64 ounces in. We are just begininning so anyway to help get it in is a good way to go. -

Faith that really is just amazing. You are going to pick right up after your surgery and do great. -
Okay lizrbit I am going to be honest with you...please don't get mad because I really do want to help. Firstly the Isopure shake. Is it neccesary for all of your protien that you have a full one. Your body can only absorb about 25 grams of protien at one time. If you cut that down to half you will get rid of 150 calories. If you do need the whole thing to make your protien requirements it would be better to have half a shake in the morning and another half before you go to bed. Then you will be getting the full benefit of the protien. Is the flaxseed oil for anything in particular? (I am bad about knowing supplement things and whatnot so forgive me if it is for some underlying health issue. If it is not then there is another 240 calories you can eliminate. Your portion sizes are a bit big and a fill wold probably do you good. Don't be discouraged that your band is already halfway filled. I felt a huge difference between 2cc and 2.25cc. Sometimes just a lttle bit goes a long way. And I know at least for myself if I have food in the house I am going to eat it. I don't buy treats anymore, I only buy treats for the kids that I don't like. If DH wants something he can buy it but he must hide it high up in a cupboard and not tell me it is there. I know if I just try one things it will turn into 4 so I fight the urge like mad to not try it. How quickly are you eating? Try and eat for a full half hour, if you have to count while you chew 30 times and count 30 seconds between each bite. Like I said I am not trying to be a jerk or self rightious or whatever, I really do just want to help. I am here with you, I know how much it sucks going through it but you can do it.

Welcome skinny jeans!!!! Exercise is definitly key to getting this weight off faster. In fact it will probably help you with your water if you go walking and take a bottle with you. I always drink at least 20oz when I am on the treadmill. Even if you don't ahve access to a treadmill take it around the block with you. Just think if you have 30 minutes to spend on the computer you have 30 minutes to workout. It sucks and you might hate it but just get up and get it done. You can do it girl! -
Okay well today is my 3 month bandiversary. I am down 44 pounds and feeling pretty good. I got a little bit brave and posted pics in the before and after thread.

Girl I effed up so bad the last week of the month that I did not even want to talk about it lol. Just made me more determined to do better now. I have been having some body issues. I know I am getting smaller, I know I have lost 45 pounds but I still see the 278 pound me in the mirror. DH just took some new pictures and I can't deny it any longer. I am a bit smaller. I have to admit it felt pretty darn good. Travelgirl great job on the exercise! Yeah I have worked out every day so far this month. Actually this was my 7th day in a row working out lol. Dr. Bacal called me out and now I want to go back in for my appointment on June 4th and show him that I can do it. But honestly I am starting to have a lot more energy. I am going out and playing with my kids, riding my bike, playing tennis with DH. I am just being more active in general. -

Zannie there is a 5K probably about an hour, hour and a half away from my house that is called something along the lines of Blah Blah pizza 5K. I wanted to sign up just to eat pizza. As it is the 5K we signed up for happens to be part of this twons festival so we planned on hitting the beer tent afterwards! lol Really though I want a challenge. I want to plan to do somethng and achieve it. I don't want to bitch and moan about it being too hard and give up. I want to do it and finish it. And let me tell you when I cross that finish line (when not if) I will probably be bawling like a little girl because for me to start and finish something....now that is a new frontier. -
You know I think eventually everyone hits their "wow" moment and things become just a bit easier. Mine really was last week at the doctors office when I had only lost 4 pounds in 3 weeks. When he asked me what I hated more, exercising or being fat. It all just started to click with me. Exercise has become something I have to do and want to get done and eating is just not as important anymore. I know that when I am down to goal I can have things like donuts and chips again. Heck I can ahve them now but why stall this weight loss (5 pounds as of Friday and that is just since Monday). Eventually something is going to click with you and it is going to become easier. The head hunger sucks, I have started writing in my journal when that strikes. The exercise, I just do it. Once I am done I am so damn proud. And if I can do it believe me you can too. DO you want a challenge? Start journaling food with me. My nutritionist has me doing that now and believe me I am thinking a lot more about what goes into my mouth since she is going to see it. Do it with me and we can compare notes.

Yeah I think it might be just the three of us. Zannie that is awesome that you got to go see the queen. I got to go see Bill Clinton when he spoke at my high school in 96 but seeing the queen is waaay cooler. SO yesterday I committed to doing a 5K in July. Obviously not to win it or anything I just want to finish it. This girl I work with and I were both talking about it yesterday so we are going to motivate ourselves to get this done. We printed up the couch to 5K training plan from www.coolrunning.com and I am starting that on Monday. Our ultimate goal is to run in the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving day. That however is a 10K so I am really hoping that I can get enough running in in the next 6 and a half months to do it. -

lizrbit everyone has bad days! The important thing is to pick yourself up tomorrow and get back on track. No one is perfect so trying to hold yourself to those standards will do nothing but hurt you. So you messed up today. Big deal. Just do your best tomorrow.
