How much you can pack into a pair of pants....
babygrl1234 replied to Susan3343's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The smaller you are the more 20 lbs makes a difference on your body. For me at 250 I can loose 20 lbs and still look the same and wear the same clothes. For my best friend who is 130 20 lbs would make a huge difference and probaly would drop at least 2 sizes. -
Are you supposed to be on clear liquids or just liquids? Clear liquids are obviously things you can see through. Water, diluted juice, clear protien drinks, sugar free jello are all clear liquids. Full liquids are anything you can drink through a straw. So that would be your soups, protien shakes, etc. My Dr. also included cottage cheese and sugar free pudding in the full liquid stage. Just make sure to take it slowly and let your body heal. Try not to drink more than a half a cup of liquids at a sitting. If you feel full stop eating. Mushy things are things that have more of a mashed potato consistancy. They are like full liquids but thicker, thick enough that you could not drink it through a straw.

Suzanne you know you are talking to the queen of fills here! I have had as little as a week between two fills. If you are hungry and you can eat too much then go get a fill.

Feb 07 Bandsters: May Challenge
babygrl1234 replied to babygrl1234's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Running is the hardest thing I have ever done...seriously. But I really want to do it so badly. I could barely run the 30 seconds I had to run the first week i started. And now I can run probably 5 minutes only 3 weeks later. My Body is starting to get used to it. It hurts when I am done but it does not hurt the next day. -
JUNE 18th...LAST SUPPER...Off to Bandersville

Aww thanks!!!! I have been working my butt off for this weight. Exercise is key. I don't care what anyone else says you have to do something everyday. I hated so much when I started and now I am starting to love it. -
4CC Band and average first fill
babygrl1234 replied to househuntress's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think 1cc is a good first fill. Sometimes people never even need one or sometimes like me they get a bunch before finding good restriction. I had some restriction after my first fill of only .75cc but after a week or so it kind of just wore off. I just kept going back until I felt restricted enough. It took some time but you eventually get there. It is deinfitly better to take it slow than to get too much of a fill and be miserable. -
My fill on Monday has made a huge difference in my eating. I am eating less than half of what I was before it and I have kicked the plateau in the behind and have lost 3 pounds since Monday!

Suzanne, I can chug Water....a little bit. I can swallow a big mouthfull and not have to sip so that is helpful for me. As for the exercise, I want everyone to be able to make it so for the rest of the month multiple workouts in one day can and will count toward the 20. Travelgirl, I am jiggly too when I run. Once I got a little more used to it, it did not even bother me anymore. -

I am ashamed to say I must have had like 10 last suppers. For about 2 weeks before banding I went and ate a huge plate at like every one of my favorite resturants. -
I heart Matrix 5.0. It is soooo yummy.

I am certainly not the worlds neatest person though I have become much better about how I keep my room and house now that I own my own place. I still drop things on the floor and kick off my shoes in random places but at least I clean it up. What frustrates the hell out of me is everyone else making a mess in the house when I am not home. I work the same number of hours a week as my husband does yet he expects me to do all the work. I hate dishes and doing them makes me physically sick. We do not have a dishwasher or garbage disposal and he thinks it is only neccesary to do dishes twice a week. Umm can you say gross? I have to just buck up and do it myself or the place would reek. Plus now his father is staying with us and he just leaves his crap everywhere. I hate working a ten hour day and having to go home and clean up a huge mess at the house when everyone else has been home all damn day. I don't expect the place to be perfect but is it really too much to ask that you just throw a dirty diaper in the trash and not leave it on the floor where you changed the kid? Is it that hard to flick your wrist to knock the paper towel off the end of the counter into the trash can? Ugh. lol

I disagree with this. I had a garage sale last year and probably about 75% of the people who showed up were hispanic. Out of that 75% almost all of them had to have their children translate conversation between myself and them. Now I understand that children learn things faster than adults do and it is much easier for them to pick up learning English but if your child can speak perfectly fluent English with me then you should have picked up enough of it to be able to converse with me. I had four years of spanish in high school and I felt confident enough to be able hold a conversation with someone albeit at a slower pace. If I were going to go and live in another country (or heck even just visit for a summer) I would learn anough of the language to communicate. English should be the first thing that they try to learn not something that they get around to.

I take a three mile walk on my lunch hour. It makes me feel good to know by the time I have gotten home I have my exercising in.

So I am having a dilemma about getting filled. I have some restriction, I really do. I still get food stuck sometimes but I don't know if it is due to my restriction or due to me taking too large of a bite. But I can eat way too much on occasions. Like when I was upset about my plateau and took out my frustrations on a double cheeseburger from Mcdonalds (with bun). If I can eat a whole burger then I should need a fill right? I know I am eating way less than I was before. But I feel like I can eat too much still. I don't know if I really do need this fill but I am too scared that it will cause me to have to give up things I have been able to eat (bread, chicken, etc) or if I am just one of those people who is able to eat anything. Any advice from some veteran bandster would be fabulous!

I am so frustrated with the not losing part. I am just hoping that it is because I am gaining a little bit of muscle. I started working out majory on the 1st of this month and that is when the plateau hit. I am just hoping now I am going to start burning some weight. I walk 3 miles a day, 6 days a week. I am doing the couch to 5K (week 3 now) 3 days a week. I also ride my bike a few days a week or play tennis. I have been way more active than I ever was before so you would think eventually it is going to pay off. I was just not expecting a plateau at month 3!

Feb 07 Bandsters: May Challenge
babygrl1234 replied to babygrl1234's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I did my running at the track yesterday. I made it 400 meters....barely lol. My workout partner wants to change weigh in days to Fridays from Mondays. I am scared to get on the scale. Not because I have been bad but because the scale has been bad to me. I cannot handle this plateau crap lol. -
Jacqui, I definitly think if I were much closer to goal I would probably opt out of the fill. I am jsut frustrated about my plateau I am on right now and I think the fill is the best idea (seeing as I have already gotten it). It has definitly helped me curb my appetite and I know it is impossible at this time to eat a cheeseburger. I am at the point now where I would not even try it and I think I really needed that help at this point.

Travelgirl you are almost there!!!!!!!!!!! -
I had about 5 fills and was able to eat a double cheeseburger (not my proudest moment). After my most recent fill (the 6th) I finally have really good restriction. Don't worry you will get there.

Yeah I will let you know in about 3 months how I like it once I go see it at the dollar theater. Yeah I am just that cheap.

How is everyone doing? -
But there are plenty of people here who don't have a roof over their heads either. Michigan has one of the worst unemployment rates in the country. In my neighborhood alone there are over 20 foreclosed homes because people can't afford the cost of living. And I live in a pretty "poor" area. The auto industry is what keeps this state going and with the decline in that and the selling of Chrysler things are only looking to get worse around here. I was unemployed for 6 months before I got my current job and I was unable to recieve any state aid. Why? Because my husband made $500 too much. Maybe if there were not so many strains on our resources from people who are here illegally those of us who do live here can get the help that we need. In those 6 months I would have taken any job I could get. I applied for positions at places that I don't even care to mention. Heck I have had my degree for 4 years now and I have yet to get a position in my field of study. The economy sucks and we are not as rich as everyone thinks we are. We need to use our money to take care of ourselves. If that makes me selfish then so be it.
