LB surgery for my unhappy tean daughter?
babygrl1234 replied to ducky's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am sorry reqgoddess but I have to disagree with you on the genetics. I cannot believe genetics does not play a part when I spent my entire high school career playing sports year round, spent my summers outside and still ended up fat and the most exercise my then best friend had was lifting the forkfull of mac and cheese to her mouth and was skinny as a bean pole. She must have been eating a good 4000 calories daily and never gained weight. She never exercised, ever. Genetics can be overcome with diet and exercise but they do play some part in how hard you have to work for it. -
I don't know if it is the running, I don't know if it is the weight loss, I don't know if it is the fact that I seem to just be pushing myself more than I ever have before, but you know what? I rode my bike 11.2 miles to work today!!!!!! I don't feel like I am going to die though I am going to have DH pick me up. I am on some sort of exercise high right now, I can't even explain it. Wow.

Holy crap I freaking did it. I am sitting in my offivce typing this and staring at my bike. I made it the 11.2 miles to work!!! It took me about an hour and 40 minutes but that included a 10 minute Water break. So 1.5 hours for 12 miles not too shabby. Especially since the longest I have ever riden in one stretch is 6 miles. I think I am going to have DH pick me up though.

Great Job Travelgirl. Zannie, Sorry about your crappy weather. We dealt with a little bit today. Of course it hit right smack in the middle of our walk at work. Luckily it did not rain too long and scrubs dry really fast lol.

In the dust nothing. You are only 3 pounds behind me. And maybe not anymore. We had a potluck and I ate like a pig. I am feeling like death right now!!!! I just may have gained all three pounds back.

I had a full blood pane and an upper gi. l

Thanks....today is *gulp* 20 straight minutes of running. Yeah, I am a bit intimidated. It is also weigh in day. If I lose 2 pounds I could have new shoes for running!!!! Argh the suspense is killing me I need to get into work! *****EDIT******* Guess who lost 3 pounds this week!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited to get shoes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry I just had to share.

I don't see why not. However, you definitly want to check the calories first.

I already am a trophy wife...but then again I am probably the vainest fat girl I know. But I am very lucky, I have a husband who loves me very much for who I am not what he wants me to be. Seriously I just can't wait until I get to the point where I will never again hear "You have such a pretty face if only you could lose weight and have the body to go along with it" It's like you can'y be pretty unless you are a size 6.

I think that you get 30 days there to try it out and if you don't like it you get your registration fee back.
-
Woohoo I didn't die!!!! Now I have 20 minutes straight of running either Friday or Sat. Oh buddy. Zannie I think the Olay stuff somes in several different flavors. Have you ever tried stuff from Lush? I don't know if there is a store near you but the website is LUSH Fresh Handmade Soaps and Natural Cosmetics . I love their Dream Cream lotion and pretty much everything else I have bought from there. It is a bit pricey but totally worth it. A lot of peole with sensitive skin and allergies can use their products.

I just got it at Meijer. It is just a bath brush. I keep meaning to get a better one but it always slips my mind when I am at the store.

I was told by my doc that the nicotine in patches will show up in a blood test. -
Travelgirl...I am up around 100 ounces per day. I reread what I wrote and thought maybe it could be miunderstood. When I said dry skin brushing I did not mean I have dry skin but that I dry brush my skin with a skin brush before I bath. It helps to exfoliate the skin and increase circulation. My back used to itch all the time before I started doing it and now that has stopped. It is very relaxing and feels really good. I have used the olay in shower stuff and really liked it. Right now I am using Jergens skin firming lotion. Even though I know the stuff does not work how I want it to I will keep trying! Another thing I like to do is contrast showers. Basically you have the Water as hot as you can stand for 3 minutes and then turn it very cold for 1 minute and repeat a few times always ending on cold. Sounds terrible but when you are done it is so refreshing. Here is some info on both Heal South Africa - Dry Skin Brushing - A project dedicated to uniting & empowering the people of South Africa, with the goal of peace, happiness and health for all. I got my walking in today...really picked up the pace and did 4 miles in 1 hour and 5 minutes. I have running to do later on, 8 minutes running-3 walking-8 running so wish me luck. That would be the longest I have ran at one time since probably junior high.

Dr. K did not "pull the plug" on people. He made the materials available for the patient to do the deed themselves, hence the assisted. He would hook them up to a device that would administer the drugs that would kill them. The person had to push the button on the device themselves to administer the drugs. The person is the one who ended their own life. The reason he went to jail was for administering an injection himself to a patient that was terminally ill. It was allegely the only time he had done so himself.

Her heart would have been beating because it was in my body. If she was not in my body there would be no beating. -

And actually to add on to that I would like to mention that my daughter that I had at age 20 was conceived while using condoms. At the time it pretty much ruined my life. My husband (then boyfirend) and I had only been together for 5 months tops. But I tried to do the "right" thing according to my parents. My son was concieved while I was on the pill. I also had an unknown fetus that was conceived while I had an IUD. Luckily when my IUD was removed it caused a miscarriage or I would have had to make a tough decision. I was pretty sure I had already made it though. I would have chosen to make sure that my two children were safe and healthy and cared for. We have never been financially well off and probably won't be for quite some time. Another child for me is just uneccesary strain on already limited resources. Since then DH has had a vasectomy. If I get pregnant again I may just physically remove my uterus myself. As a side note a good friend of mine also got pregnant with an IUD. What is the freaking chance of that? The only 2 people I know with one get knocked up. -

When it can live outside of the womb. A 6 week fetus cannot do so therefore I don't think of it as a human. I think late term abortion is sickening. I also think that people who have had several abortions and have not tried to prevent those pregnancies are sickening. But it is not my place to make the decision of what a woman can and cannot do with her own body. It is not my choice, it is her choice. -

I voted for Chicago because it is closest to my house but Vegas does sound like a plan. I have never been there before and this would be a really good reason to go. -
Ohh I want to go shopping now.

If I can only eat 1/4 cup of tuna fish dammit I am not putting light mayo in there. I don't eat light anything and I am losing just fine.
-
Well while the topic is abortion related why does it seem that some who are very pro-life are also pro-spanking. You can't abort a pregnancy but you can hit a kid? They want to tell a woman what she can and can't do with her body and then get all in a huff when someone tells them they can't hit their children.

Out of curiousity.... Do you believe in the theory of evolution or that in the begininning God created the heavens and the earth? Science points to evolution while religion points to God. Maybe it is a bit off topic but if you don't believe in the scientific theory of evolution then why can you use a scientific definition to define life? Can you just pull bits and piece of what you like to support your argument but throw away what goes against the things you believe? -
You live in around Detroit Wallygirl? Zannie the skin is starting to rear it's ugly head at me too. I have been moisturizing like a mad woman and dry skin brushing like crazy. I am praying that youth will help me but it ain't lookin so pretty right now. Welcome back skinnyjeans. Speaking of skinny jeans did I mention that I managed to cram myself into a pair of size 17 slim fit flare leg Levis? It was not a pretty sight but I managed to zip those puppies up!
