I am a slow loser and my diabetic meds was the issue. I was on an insulin pump. And my a1c dropped to7.6 then the weight lost slow down and it went to 10.8. Now the weight is coming down at a fast rate since I started taking oral meds. I don't take metformin because of the side affects but I take Invokana and it has been doing the job my a1c has gone down to 8.0 with a month and will be taking blood again. I went from 220 to 182 within a month average is 30 pound a pound a day.

Hi this is a choice you need to be comfortable with. I have only told the same people in my life every one else I told I had some made up problem. I don't regret it because I did not want people judging me or watch king me eat. I did not reach my goal in a year but am on a weight lost now. I have lost weight at a slow rate. I don't have much to lose but I didn't want any negative feed back from anyone. You are the only one who will know who to tell and who not to tell. I will pray that you get the sign you need to make that decision

Vet update from a slow loser
Lilu replied to Lilu's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
LadyK44 I am glad that I wrote this because three years out and still have not reach my goal is the point I need to make. The surgery is the best thing I ever did and I encourage all to do it once they have tried everything I WA then all to see that it is not easy for everyone and that some times it is going to take longer than you think. But I stuck with it. I know I will be there soon and it will be the best for me. Because I did this for me. Just stick with it you will get there too. -

Well I am so happy about the changes in me. Even though I have had a ruff time losing the weight I am finally losing it quickly. I once weight 350 lbs and was not happy with myself. Went to a GYN doctor and he told me that I was diabetic. I was able to lose 100 labs. I have struggled with this for a long time going down to 180 lbs and then gaining it back. Now I was 265 when I had my sleeve, with in six month I went down to 204 lbs. Then I gain 16 lbs. This has been a long journey but I am happy I have not given up. Even having a lot of negatives around me I have managed to come out on top. I am Happy to say my goal weight for my body size and shape is 150. I am now 188 lbs.

Any other veterans not at goal or super slow to goal?
Lilu replied to deedeemuffin's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I made three years in April and I was a slow loser. But the problem were due to complication after the sleeve. The doctors worked hard to find out what the complications were and help me fix them. Now I am back on track. -
I am in NYC and I am a three years vet if you want we can be buddies. I know exactly how you feel at this time. I went thru the same thing. It is also taking me a long time to reach my goal t I am getting there.

Sometimes people lose slower than other. Don't be disappointed about not losing as much weight as you would like because at one point you stop losing on the scale and start losing inches from your body. I am one of those slow loser and I am always talking about losing weight. Every goal or mile stone will lead to you end goal.

Three years after gastric sleeve and I'm at a stand still and still have NOT lost what I want!
Lilu replied to Erica Brownlee's topic in Rants & Raves
I too am three years out and still have not reach my goal. In addition have gained a lot of other health issue. But I want you to remember that you did not gain the weight in one night. So please don't give up I haven't I will get to my goal soon. I started walking again and I do weights at home in a chair. I dance while I clean. I have lost 4 lbs. this week. Good luck I will keep you in my prays -
I watch the show on TLC, My 600lb life: Where are they now?. Just like the first time when I saw Penny's story, It made me mad.How dare you waste the doctor and weight lost clinic's time. I had my surgery in 2011 and have been on a slow weight lost. I make no excuses. I would lose more weight faster if I move more. I know this so I move as much as I can and I am careful. I don't let the fact that I had some illness set me back. As I watch this week I am so angry and sad for Penny. Since I recorded it I will use it to make sure I stay losing it. When you chose to do this weight lose surgery you really need to find out why you eat so much. Seeing a therapist before and after is very important. Penny need to do this because the doctor does not have to tell us that she is full of it, it is very clear. Later going walking.

All these complications...is it worth it?
Lilu replied to Flutterfly19's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well we all have our stories and with them we have success and failures. My is failure but it will be a success soon. I started out not knowing how sick I truly was. I had a stroke and 3 TIA which are like mini strokes, High blood pressure, Diabetes, Hypo- thyroid, A blockage in the vein in my brain and a ton of minor problems. After surgery I had a bad infection that was caused by the hospital staff and a Minor heart attack. With all this I do not regret having this surgery. So remember that we are all not a like and the horror stories are not every bodies. I did loss some hair but it was a lack of vit. Also some of the stories are about people not being honest with themselves and have problems afterwards. Good luck I hope it helps. -
