    Cludgie's Confessional

Ok, so yesterday super busy, and super pi@&%d off so didn't stray, but didnt count either! However the scale shows me up a lb so back to 184 This morning still at 184, but more positive, so cycled 17k on the stationary bike and 35g of Protein for Breakfast. I know this sounds dim, but for the "ideal" day what are my targets for minimum protein, max carb, and minimum Fluid. I try to reduce carbs and max out fluids and protein, but my Dr never told me figures to aim for. Thanks for helping folks! Cx

    Bookleen's Plateau

Yeah they were great, and certainly the mostt cost effective option too, the pnly dwn side is the lack of after care, I e-mailed some queries a few weeks ago, and got very vague unhelpful answers. But hey, I'm sleeved, and it cost me what most people pay for a cheap band, so I really cannot complin. Are you uk based too? Cx

    Cludgie's Confessional

Ok, so day 2, actually felt harder than day one! I think it is because I am under a lot of pressure at work, and usually I'd smother the stress with food, and because I am cutting out the bad habbits which have crept back in I feel all the more deprived, however this too shall pass! Todays stats: 183 (-1lb woop!) Food: 50g cooked ham, Protein Shake, low fat cheese omlette. Drink: 1 small cup of coffee, 2 1/2 pints sugar free cordial, 1 large cup oxo. Calories for the day (including milk): 520 Protein today: 60g Carbs: 16g Basal metabolic rate - 1617 calories Excercise - cycled 10k on the stationary bike before work (300cals burned) I make that a total of minus 1397 calories today. Phew that makes the abstinence feel better!!!

    Welcome new Members!!!

Hi Kay, Looking at our tickers we started off just one day apart, and have exactly the same overall weight loss goal of -81lb, I am sure we can all motivate each other along in this group, and it'll be fun to see if we can get to goal together too xx
  9. cludgie

    Welcome new Members!!!

Well, I looked at this grup, and thought, "one day I will join them", I checked my ticker yesterday, and only had 1lb to lose to qualify, I weighed again today, and I can join!!! So I'm 5 months and a week (or so) out, I have lost 51lb, and am already lighter than the goal I had set at my initial consultation last year, but am 30lb away from my revised, and far more sensible end goal. Looking at the average rate of loss the last couple pf months it will realistically be another 5-6 months before I get to goal, which I do find a bit depressing TBH, however as I said a year ago I'd have killed to get down to 188lb, and now at 184, I guess I see the bigger picture and know there is still some of that road to travel. It is great to be able to consider myself to be on the "final stretch" though that has made me smile!
  10. OK, so the scale is still not shifting, and I am still trying to hold on to happy vibes, and as a pick me up, my husband and I went out on a date night this week, which we haven't done since I was sleeved. Half way through the evening I tootled off to the toilet, and was surprised to see who was lurking in the bathroom mirror! This girl has a waist, a bust, and skinny wrists, and so I just had to take a picture to show this random stranger who turned up was not a figment of my imagination! I do hope she is here to stay!

    Progress made...

As a 5 month out sleever I am quite biased, however I think that the sleeve is the perfect mid ground in terms of wls. I was afraid to go for the full bypass because of the possible problems with absorbing Vitamins, however if I change my mind later, I know that my sleeve can be converted. I thought I was hungry post surgery for weeks, and then it suddenly dawned on me - my mind hadn't caught up! My stomach does not tell me I am hungry, my mind struggles sometimes with what else to do because until surgery food was the solution for every problem, or emotion I encountered. Things have eased massively since I worked that out, and yes, sometimes I pshychologically want to eat all the wrong things, but my stomach soon tells me what a massive mistake I'm making if I try. I have found a few evil "SLIDER" foods and alcohol will go down very easily, so my stomach is not fool proof, but it is a damn sight more effective than my willpower ever was. Good luck in your decision.
  12. You have done brilliantly to get to - 50lb so soon, and I agree that the steroids will probably be a big factor in you hitting a bit of a slow down, however I've found the 50lb mark in itself has been the issue for me, I got to - 48/49lb, and stalled, then I cracked it and hit -50lb, and for the last couple of weeks I have been going up and down the same 2lb! I think that our bodies do just get to a point where they have to stop and re-adjust. It is so hard, especially when you aren't feeling well anyway, but most people really do have this, and it does pass! Hang in there - hide the scales for a couple of weeks, and if you don't already start to measure, I found that in the month I have lost least weight I have lost most inches, so something is happening even when the scale refuses to agree
  13. Ok, so I am starting to think I am actually broken in some manner! I have only lost 6lb this month, and despite being so good I have gained back 2lb of that in the last 2 days! I still have 30lb to goal, but feel like I will never get there now.
  14. Thanks folks, I guess I am horrifically impatient, and my mood is all over the place at the moment, mid week I was literally buzzing because I hit the 50lb mark, and within a couple of days I'm devastated because I've slid backwards again. I guess it doesn't help that I just feel so fat at the moment (irrational, I know) so because I feel rubbish I want some moral support from the scales to keep me bolstered, which isn't happening either! GRRR! Thanks for listening to my rant though, nowhere else on earth would anyone understand his frustration!

    Height and Weight Photos

Not fair - on both of those sites all the people my height and current weight look sooooo much smaller than I do! Great links though!

    The POSITIVITY thread:

Actually feeling a bit blue today, so struggled with this, but once I got thinking about it - ended up almost crying with releif!! 3- No longer being the fattest Mum at my kids' school (infact I'm probably not even in the top 10!) - My daughter used to get REALLY upset when classmates commented about me being fat. 2- Having a discernible skeleton (mostly when I'm lying down still), I have prominent hip bones, I have collar bones, and when I breathe in I even have ribs - who would have known eh? 1- Walking into any clothing store with my head held high, and being able to look the shop assitant in the eye (I've been convinced for years that I'm greeted with pitying looks because they just don't run to my size!). This crazy journey isn't bad really!
  17. Ok, so after what seems like forever (yes I know in reality, it has only been just under 5 months), I finally hit -50lb today! With that has come some great changes, in the last 5 months; I have dropped 5 dress sizes (from UK 24/US 22, to a UK 14/US 12). I have become the lightest adult in my house (for the entire 12 years I have been with my husband I have weighed an average of 42lb more than him (today I am 2lb lighter than him) I have dropped 1/2 a shoe size and no longer need wide fittings (even in knee length boots). I have grown exponentially in confidence (seriously still trying to get over my moment of madness which led to nearly nude sunbathing - that is not at all like me!) My daughter can join her arms around me when she hugs me. I am less afraid of mirrors (still lots of work, but getting there) I have been complemented by everyone from near strangers to my nearest and dearest, with one friend not even recognising me when I turned up to her wedding (which felt amazing) I am 22% less of a person (yet have grown in so many other ways!) I am overweight, and no longer obese (my bmi has dropped by 7.6 points) food is no longer; my enemy, my punishment, my reward, my crutch, my shield, my friend, or a slow form of self harm. Food does not define me, and it does not rule me. Most of all I am making changes FOREVER with no thoughts of failure or relapse, every lb I have said goodbye to I have done so forever. I may not be a quick loser, but I can honestly say I have never ever (not for a single second) regretted my sleeve! Onwards and downwards!!
  18. I'm sorry you are having such a tough time, its is sooooo hard when you work hard and stall anyway. I guess the way I try to look at it is that in less than 2 months you have lost over 30lb, if you were following any other diet you'd probably be less hard on yourself and be really pleased with such a great weight loss (that is fantastic BTW), I know that I thought I'd lose consistently once I was sleeved, I couldn't imagine eating so little and not losing, but sadly stalls happen. This forum is a great place to come and vent if you need to, and there are loads of amazingly supportive folks on here waiting to help, so I hope things get easier for you reallys soon, and in the mean time, please do enjoy those 32lb - 32lb is what my son weighs, and I know I'm struggling a lot more if I have to carry him around, so although it probably doesn't feel that way you are giving yourself and your body the best gift byu losing weight. Good Luck. Cludgie

    My "Ah-hah!" Moment...

Truly AWSOME!!! I cried reading your post, and as so many other people have said my children were a big part of my decision to have this surgery, I lost my Dad when I was 26, and feel like I had so little time with him, if I can earn myself a little more time with my family in any way I can. I'll do it. My favourite moment so far was playing hide and seek at the playground with my 7 year old and my 3 year old, without thinking I climbed up into a plastic tube between two bits of play equipment intended for todlers, and it was only once I was tucked up inside it that I realised I'd managed to fit in there no problems, and whats more it wasn't even creaking a little under my weight!!

    Reward for 50 lbs lost?

Thanks for starting this thread - I hit my 50lb loss today, and wouldn't have made a big deal of it but you got me thinking, and so I did, and I bought a pair of non stretch, normal width knee high boots, I love them so much I am going back tomorrow to buy a pair in another colour (well, hell I have lost 50lb!!!)

    Fast Losers

Me three, stalling at 49lb loss, probably because I so desperately want to see that 50th lb!

    Reward for 50 lbs lost?

Wow we have almost identical stats - I thught I was the only person sleeved in January who hadn't hit the 50lb mark yet, its so frustrating, but we'll get there! As fir a treat, I'd go for jewelry, infact I'd go for a ring, and then you'll have the satisfaction of seeing how quickly it gets lose! Good luck.
